“Car broke 2 days later”

★☆☆☆☆

written by CassiusGustafson222 on 05/01/2018

I was struggling as the week before i purchased the vehicle my car broke down i bought a Vehicle for around £900 From the auction and thought good cause i needed cheap after recently buying my first house so thought yes finally a bargain. But what i didn't realise is how bad it was going to get 2 days after a bought it i was driving back from work heard a pop and the oil was shooting out the engine took it to a garage i needed to pay £1000 to get it fixed. After i did that my drive shaft snapped like 3 months later another £278 And at this moment i have to change a bearing housing on the opposite wheel and i have a few more jobs that need sorting too like the exhaust etc. But i am one to say i have told a lot of my friends and family who have used this place in the past and they said they and me will NEVER come back again due to cars because they are pretty much ready for the scrapyard. so if i was anyone of you who is reading this. DO NOT GO HERE FOR A CAR SAVE AND BUY ONE YOU KNOW WILL BE RELIABLE AND IF YOU ARE NOT SURE TAKE SOMEONE WITH A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CARS. Thank you for reading but i truly hope it helps you.Wish i had read something like this before i went there would of really helped me out.

“Junk status Cars , insider bidding !”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Yamilet1962 on 22/07/2014

Nearly every car had a fault here , many carefully hidden to fool the amateur. Went yesterday , and one car sold for £2650 , and then broke down ! Had to be pushed of the stage - what a joke ! Bid one one car , a 08 vectra , 59K , for £1100. Winning bid for 2 mins , then insider bidding happened , so obvious , so corrupt ! Will NEVER go again , please I beg you , do not RISK it!

“I bought an old BMW from there. The car overheated...”

written by on 07/02/2014

I bought an old BMW from there. The car overheated within 5 minutes of leaving site. They must have known about the problem, because it was happening so quickly, but they hid it. I have often seen the same cars going through week after week, despite being sold. I'm not sure whether this is because staff are bidding on them, or because they break down and the new owners put them straight back through to try to get some of their money back. You may be lucky enough to get a good car from there, but for the most part I wouldn't bother. There's better value on ebay.

The cars don't belong to the auction, they sell them on behalf of the vendors. You could just have easily bought this car from a private seller and had the same amount of comeback, i.e. None. You should learn a little about how to appraise cars properly before you buy at auction, or indeed anywhere other than a main dealer.

“Good Value ”

Bought my son his first car, a fiat panda, milage was a little high at 100k but it seems fine. Staff helped me find the car, they printed a list of cars in my £1500 budget, I would be back to buy again I think. My boy has had the panda two weeks and its been great no problems, I did have a service done and a once over by mechanic. I may be looking for a diesel and I will be back.

“INHOUSE BIDDING”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 27/02/2013

Its very very blatant that there’s in-house bidding GOING ON because 65% of these cars that have been sold will Reappear in the next day auction And again and again which have been bided on and sold?

“Good Value & Experiance”

★★★★★

written by on 30/05/2012

Well its been a while since I went to an auction. I visited newport aucxtions a couple of times to see what prices the cars were making. I had a budget and needed to get an estate for work. Anyway after two visits I saw a volvo estate diesel on an 06 plate. I bifd on it and the staff needed to contact the owner with my bid as it was less than they wanted. I was asked if I wanted to increase my bid by another £100 to win the car. I took another look and decided to go for it. I have now done 1500 trouble free miles in the car. I am pleased overall, i did have to get some tax for it and service it as I do lots of miles. I would recommend buying from Newport Auctions, just take someone with you who has some mechanical knowledge. The staff are lovely, and they have a nice cafe too!

“'great first car'”

★★★★★

written by on 30/05/2012

I must say that I was cautious about using a car auction, as I had never used one before. I had a look at the website before attending the auction which was great, as it has detailed reports of each vehicle so you know what you need to know - I found a few vehicles I was interesed in - (I was only after a small runaround as a first car for my daughter). I attended a sale on a Friday evening! I asked the lady at the window for reserves, unfortunately they wouldn't give me reserves but asked whether I had a budget (which i did) and they were able to tell me whether or not each particular car was within my price range! They also pointed out what buyers fees I'd need to pay around my price range.. I ended up buying a 1 litre 52 plate black corsa! Daughter loves it so I'm an overall happy customer :)

“First time bidder”

★★★★★

written by on 13/12/2011

Went to an evening auction after being recommended by a freind, I only had a limited budget and the staff helped me find a vehicle within my price range. The bidding process was very easy, placed a 10% deposit then waited for an answer of the owner. I paid in full and drove it away the same night. The staff were friendly, bidding was easy and the price was good. Would definitely use again.

i have been successful in just one car out of the three cars i have purchased from the auction. Its not fair that traders use this auction as a means to get rid of their wrecked or faulty cars. I think in my opinion, they should only receive vehicles that are road worthy from clients. I paid over 5 thousand pounds for a car and as we speak, i am still in the garage trying to sort out what the problem is. Its not fair what they are doing. I will be taking up this issue to the police asap because i am beginning to find this whole auction thing a sham.

written by on 31/01/2011

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE SHARKS! the last one we bought seat was a death trap with a 12 month MOT, this was told to us by our own garage, the car wasnt road worthy.£1200 for the car and its cost us over £3000 to repair it. and today my friend bought a nissan there and oh my god its worse then my seat was! £750 for a car with again 12 month mot and its a right off scrap value only! needs new gear box, new electronics box which alone cost over £500 plus coding to the car. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY A CAR FROM THEM. sold as seen means its a death trap! i have the proof if anyone wants to see it!!! dodgy MOT's maybe? we'll never know.
you complain to the auction and they say sold as seen, the owners didnt list faults prior to auction! well when theres BRIGHT ORANGE WARNING LIGHTS flashing you know theres a MAJOR problem or are all the staff working there thick! my answer is YES THEY BLOODY ARE!
