Have been with Paymentshield for several years. We have Labndlord Indurance as well as our own buildings & contents insurance. Tenant noticed a black liquid coming down the flue & this was reported to Paymentshield. Their assessor stated that it was due to the cawling missing. We had recently had storms where the winds reached 74mph... Contacted this insurance company to put in a claim for damage too my roof caused by wind Doris. Lost a few ridges and tiles, I got a quote a couple of quotes from reputable roof contractors, thinking all was well. They sent out. Their own surveyors and came up with the sum of £208 to fix damage, the scaffolding alone £250.. I got back in touch with insurance and asked them to send out one of their contractors to fix it. “Mortgage protection insurance.”

I fell ill May 2015 I contacted paymentshield to notify them that I was off due to an illness. I was told that my policy only covers me for employment only. My company who I will have worked for for eight years has made a decision to medically terminate me, I am no longer employed. Paymentsheld told us time and again they were giving us the best quote for home insurance. As we have never made any claim whatsoever and they told us we were getting a big discount and we also have a large property, we thought this was a good deal. As the Administrators of your home insurance policy, each year renewal prices are returned to us by the insurer who underwrites your specific policy. All the insurers we work with view and price the ‘risk’ of a property differently and return prices to us based on many different factors.

I will contact you again. I did contact you at the time but only received a very long quite unpleasant letter from you full of excuses. The crux of your explanation was that the blame was with Royal & Sun Alliance. You said: "The insurer of your policy is Royal & Sun Alliance who are responsible for the pricing of the policy, dealing with any claims you may need to make and setting the terms and conditions for the policy." I think the problem for me as a customer is I believed Paymentshield were some sort of brokers who searched for the best insurance. I now find out you are actually some sort of middleman which appears to only deal with a very narrow number of insurers. I am unsure what your role is frankly but you also stated that going through a comparison website means people are doing so on 'a non-advised basis where commission will be paid to the seller.' How you make your money you didn't say but basically you did advise me and you advised me wrongly to go with a company that was ridiculously expensive. I would say your advice is deeply flawed if the companies you recommend are six times the price of one someone can find themselves. And presumably some of that money is paid to you - after all you are not a charity are you? So for anyone considering going with Paymentshield be warned - I recommend people simply go online to a good comparison website and purchase insurance that way. As an aside this is what happens if you write a horrible long letters to a customer - they leave a review for others to read on a website like this.

We very much appreciate your reply and again we’re very sorry to hear if you felt any of our communication with you has been unpleasant. It certainly is not the impression we want to give any of our customers!

As a company we design the insurance products we provide and we work with a number of insurers who will then underwrite our policy. So they are indeed responsible for pricing the ‘risk’ of your property and who would assess and pay out for any claims. Our responsibility in the process is for administering your policy. So if you needed to make any changes to your policy, or increase/reduce any cover levels then we would look after all this for you, along with issuing your renewal documents each year once your insurer has confirmed their renewal price. So your policy is in fact a Paymentshield Home Insurance policy, but it is underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Plc, who determine your premium for underwriting the policy.

We work with a panel of insurers who include Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Plc, ABC Insurance, Aviva, Allianz, Ageas, AXA, Legal & General, Towergate, and Zurich. From the information you provided in your review, it sounds like you may have had one of our older home insurance policies which are underwritten by just RSA, rather than one of our newer policies which is underwritten by the full panel of insurers mentioned above. This is why we would be keen to talk to you again so we can re-assess if there was more we could have done for you when you first contacted us, like for example moving you over to our newer policy.

We appreciate that you have now found an alternative insurance policy, but we would still love the opportunity to speak to you once more. We take customer feedback very seriously and our reason for asking you to get in touch is so that we can better understand what went wrong for you and how we can make the experience better for our customers.

the same happened to me. comparator quotes use the same underwriters in various guises plis better insurance offer. from 550 / month down to 135!! it feels like profiteering

I regret the necessity of writing such a post; but I fear the safety of the elderly and young. Appalling company with a lack of professionalism. Our house was broken into and the premises due to deliberate delay tactics by Paymentshield was left unsecure for weeks. On average I was placed on hold for 20+. “Appalling service and systems.”

Even trying to book cover with this company is a difficult, long-winded, expensive and frustrating experience. We've had a policy with Payment Shield for 8 years, and recently wanted to add buildings and amend contents to our new house. Quotes never saved so had to go through a half hour new quote every time. No help given to a relatively simple request of getting a quote in writing for our solicitor. Paymentshield company is very fast for renewing monthly payments every year without any problem. On the contrary, they are very slow, unhelpful and useless when you need them when you made a claim. Think everyone noticed the storm on 15th January. I woke up to find one of my weather boards in my garden rather than on the roof. Supposed to have home insurance with Paymentshield so I phoned them--never claimed for at least 7 years. They sent out a surveyor from another bunch of unscrupulous characters called BVS who decided no storm damage because the board which was painted last summer was not in good condition. Have had insurance with payment shield for two of my houses for 2 years but when adding another one on, they said I would get a call back in the morning on the Tuesday, waited all day and then phoned on the Wednesday and said will get a call back within 48 hours again waited and phoned and was told no it's five days. Having seen negative feedback here maybe the company have improved based on my dealings with Paymentshield. I have had a policy for 5-years and took out when I moved house with a bigger mortgage. Having recently been off work I contacted Paymentshield and they sent me a claim form. Yes i had to send lots of personal paperwork to prove my disability but after completing one form they confirmed I could make a claim. My husband took out a policy to cover our mortgage should he ever be made redundant. Six years down the line and it happened in May this year. He contacted Paymentshield immediately to let them know and after countless telephone conversations and a stupid amount of forms to fill in we are now in July with still no sign of our mortgage being paid. I will never use Paymentshield again. This is the first review that I have ever written, but I really felt compelled to warn people away from Paymentshield. I took out a home insurance policy with paymentshield through a financial advisor, making a monthly payment. After a couple of weeks, I realised that I was paying interest on the policy charge by paying monthly, so I contacted Paymentshield to pay the balance in full in one go (to avoid paying interest).
