I've been using the Dell Studio XPS 1647, for over 6 months now. I have to say it is alot faster than my old computer. It's light, and has a large screen. I do find that the brightness of the screen needs to be able to go lower. I like to have my screen on the lowest setting, however I do find that sometimes, this is still too bright for me (especially on days when I have a headache). Overall I would recommend this laptop, its a good all round machine.

It is a good laptop,I am very like it!If the battery dies, then the laptop isn't as useful, because it will need to be plugged in at all times in order to function. ~~laptopinc.COM.au~~ tell you the way to solve this is to purchase.

I travel a lot and so a laptop with enough power and storage to work on the go is essential. Just as important is the ability to play videos as alone in a hotel room with non-English TV channels can be very boring. That's where the Dell Studio XPS 16 really scores. It provides great processing power for spreadsheets (my main application) and does email and other stuff fine. But in my own time video playback is superb. The screen quality is just fantastic - probably as good as my home TV. When videos are played there is no colour distortion and no lag on playback. The only small problem I have is that the battery doesn't last long enough. Wi-Fi in the hotels or heavy video viewing drain the battery too quickly. But then mostly I have mains power so not a major problem. If you need a good all round work and play horse then the Dell Studio XPS 16 is a great system. www.dell.co.uk.

I have never had such poor service as that received from Dell. I used to be a fan of them however after a series of errors from Dell and charging me twice for the same product over the Christmas period. I am still fighting to get my money back. I would avoid Dell like the plague!

good laptop all round overheating isn't really a problem as others have said differently. Owned for 4 months and i'm glad i chose this laptop.

The laptop has a bad design at the heating free zone. The vents are covered by the laptop screen bottom. So the laptop gets over heated in a very short time. That causes inconvenience to use the laptop in a non ac room. Better no to buy.
