Poor Value For Meney

The most disappointing two night stay we have ever had. The room had grey walls and ceiling thus giving a very gloomy appearance. Small wardrobe with lots of hangers but only three hooks at the back, no rail. As the safe was on the floor of the wardrobe it was necessary to crawl on the floor to set or enter the code. bathroom extractor not working hence all surfaces very wet after a shower. Bar service was, as other guests suggested, appalling, 15 minutes to get 2 G & T's. Restaurant food so poor and over priced we only had dinner on the first evening. Menu presented on a rather tired looking A3 card. Very limited selection and all vegetables were extra and again a limited choice. On our second day we went into Cheltenham and had a meal at the branch of a well known brasserie; good choice, good value and so much better. On the first morning the breakfast was almost cold and the service on each morning was painfully slow. This hotel claims to be an iconic luxury hotel. It failed on all counts, there seems to be a "Cotswold Premium" on The Lygon Arms that cannot be justified. I would never stay here again.
