It was a delight to read this well known story from a different perspective. We all think we know the story of Scott, but in this carefully researched and beautifully written account, Isobel Williams has, despite knowing the tragic outcome, reignited one's interest.
The book is possibly a real triumph because of the medical empathy and awareness Dr Isobel Williams has with Edward Wilson, as well as being absorbing to those of a more artistic nature.
I look forward to more biographical accounts being written by this creative and intelligent writer. Myra Abrahams.

Everyone knows about Scott, and most people have heard about Oates' sacrifice, but this book covers fresh ground in the person of Edward Wilson - someone to admire and respect, and with a most attractive character. I did not want to end it because his life was so fascinating, and his character so admirable.
