Beware - They Cause Damage And Then Deny It!
I booked my vehicle in for recall works. When I collected the vehicle, there were 2 x stone chips on the windscreen. I immediately noticed this as I left the garage so returned. They agreed to repair the chips, but when I returned to collect, it was clear that if they had been repaired, it was a bad job and it would require a new windscreen.
Once this was pointed out to Peugeot, they started denying it was them that caused the chips. The windscreen was totally chip free when it arrived, having only been driven the short distance from the MOT garage to BSM Peugeot, and the MOT noted that there were no chips on the screen.
When I dropped the vehicle off originally a staff member went over the vehicle with me and did not note any damage to the screen, but when I questioned this with the manager, he stated they only have a quick look over the vehicle - not my problem really. I know it was chip free when I dropped it there and when I collected it, it wasn't. They are now refusing to do anything about it - oh apart from an offer towards my insurance excess which quite frankly takes the mick that I should have to go through my own insurance rather than theirs!
If you do take your vehicle here, I would strongly suggest you be very very wary that they may cause damage to your vehicle and then refuse to do anything about it.
I will never use this garage again.
Sounds like you were trying to pull the wool over their eyes with a battered old van probably covered in scratches and chips and they found you out and called your bluff.
Bad Business And Customer Service
Wanted to part ex my car to purchase used peugeot, normal practice. Also normal practice for a dealer to come up with an initial low offer as a starting point for negotiation, not it would appear when dealing with Bristol Motors in Northampton. The first offer was £3000 below book price!, yes I had done my homework and did know the Glass guide, Parkers and CAP valuations. The "manager" tried to justify thier low ball offer with several silly stories along the lines that if they take my car it would need to be Mot'd, driven upto Scotland, all the alloys replaced (my car had a slight kerbing on one alloy, nothing to affect its value). Now my car was in A1 condition and they would easily be able to make a good £2000 on resale if they gave me the lower book price. Oh yes he also came up with the old stand by of"the trouble is there are too many of your style of car on the market" . For whatever reason as he didn't want to negotiate I can only assume he didn't want my car, fair enough, but why not say that rather than me having to be spoken to like an idiot. and leaving the dealership feeling that I had been insulted.
Next day with a visit to them in Kettering where I was treated with maners and respect I part exchanged my car for the top end of the book value, made a deal on a used Peugeot and left the dealership feeling that I had been treated as a customer should. I was happy with the deal and the dealership will make a good profit.
long story short, stear clear or Bristol Street Motors! You have been warned.

this company would rather make up a tall story than just tell you the truth and get over it, this is what makes it worse.
booked service , pick and delivery service, driver does not turn up, call Bristol they say driver left over an hour and a half ago for a 10 minutw journey, hhhm maybe not? suddenly the driver turns up and says he has just been told to come and pick the car up. so they had'nt sent someone earlier at all, then wait for the car to be returned , no phone call or any notification , the cars turns up at 3pm, ask driver what they have done regarding reported faults, he says he doesn't know. so no call to say its being returned, no report to the faults or follow up, documents say parts needed, no idea if that means they have been fixed or ordered, no follow up. if they ask you to fill out a customer satisfaction and you don't give them a full glowing report the look on their faces says , that form is in the bin as soon as you leave.
previous service - driver problem once again, they said none available - so car had to be picked up

The Vauxhall dealership in Northampton is a disgrace. Rude and abusive to customers and with some very dubious practices. One star is too generous.
