Truly Appalling Film

Whilst I enjoyed thr first Iron Man film I found this second installmwnt unbelievably bad.

With a lack of character building and an appalling script this film relies completely on Downey Jr's quirkiness to make it appealing which itself just doesn't work on this film.

Mickey Rorke's attempt to portray the villain is pathetic and completely unbelievable - as is the whole film.

The third film in the series is an improvement so I nelieve the makers recognised how bad this film is and acted accordingly.

Do not bother with this film. It will waste 2 hours of your life that you won't get back.

Iron Man 2: The Best Of Thrilogy!

Iron Man 2 (2008) by Jon Favreau.

After watching the first Iron Man, I was really pleased and hoped that the second one would be as great as the previous or even more.

I was expecting the plot to be gripping, fast paced and full of special effects and futuristic things. I have to admit that I wasn't disappointed at all.

As a marvel superheroes's fan, I like movies such as Iron Man 2 which is an action, Sci-Fi, and Superhero movie.

In the film, Tony Stark(the main character and Iron man) would have to deal with many problems such as villains as always but also personal and professional problems. For example, he had problems with the US government, Justin Hammer (another weapon manufacturer), a new powerful villain, a new spy in Tony's life and Tony's own health.

The main characters are Iron Man, Rhody, Hammer, Roomanof, Pepper, Vanco. I think that their roles were perfectly performed by these actors.

As a big budget movie, the camera work and animations were just amazing from my point of view. The special effects were simply perfect by the way. Of course, I'm not a camerawork expert but I think that they were really worth it. The scenes could be really intense and the plot fast-paced mostly when Iron Man was the main character in the scene.

There is a scene in the movie which I found really interesting and touching: In the movie Tony wasn't really close to his father because he was always too busy. But, surprisingly for Tony he had left a video recording for him where he was telling Tony about his feelings for him. After watching the video Tony knew that it wasn't an ordinary message and then he spoke out loud "Even after your death you still give me some homework".

I really enjoyed that movie and strongly recommended it to all people who like fantastic movies, even if it's been many years since it was released. I've watched it many times and can't get enough of it.

This movie can easily be compared to The Avenger movies as they both are gripping and the actors electrifying.

I Was Eagerly Awaiting The Release Of Iron Man 2,

I was eagerly awaiting the release of Iron Man 2, Robert Downey Jnr was everything I could have hoped for as Tony Stark in the first film so expectations were high. The one thing that put me off slightly was the over marketing of AC/DC's Iron Man 2 soundtrack (which is simply a rehashing of AC/DC's greatest hits with a picture of Iron Man on the front) in the run up to the film's release.

Jon Favreau has again helmed the movie and unfortunately his inexperience of working large budget films shows through during the first 40 mins or so of the film. It feels a little too slow and a little padded out. I would have liked some more of Whiplash (and a lot more action) before he descends on Tony Stark at Monaco. But once the film gets over this overly long setting up period and the action starts it starts to feel more cohesive. It's still a great film with a lovely couple of teasing nods to the next film in the collection; Thor and also Captain America (keep your eyes peeled for that one) and make sure you wait in the cinema until the credits have finished rolling.

I was disappointed that Terrence Howard didn't come back as Rhodey (replaced by Don Cheadle) but Cheadle did a pretty good job as War Machine even if he did lack the comic timing of Howard. Scarlett Johansson is irksome at first then her character develops making her casting justified. Sam Rockwell, as always, puts in a solid performance. Catch it in the cinema to make the most of Whiplash.
