Cardiff riding school, was going to offer 1 of my horses on loan to them so went to watch a class lesson,I was absolutely horrified that the " instuctor" said to steal a horse you have to whip it,where do they get these so called instructors,I could not believe what I heard. SO MY HORSE IS NOT BEING OFFERED.

We just had a lesson (class lesson) for my daughter at the riding school and it was just awful, I felt like I wanted to stop her and take her out of there! The teacher was so rude, and unhelpful, and she did not explain to her upfront what to do, like how to hold the rein on the horse for example your thumb needs to be pressed down firmly on the reins, and how to position your legs etc. AND then suddenly expecting her to run with the horse!! She was going to fall off the horse and nobody was next to her!! The teacher does not seem to care at all for the safety of the children, just an awful experience!!! They gave her the biggest pony ever, and she is very petite and one of her legs was coming off the stirrup iron all the time!! I Will not recommend anyone going there especially those who are beginners.

I spent close to £500 on private lessons at this riding school, each time I went there I was given a horse that was far to forward going, and often resulted in spending at least half the lesson fighting with the horse, the horses clearly wanted more exciting things to do than a beginners horse. When I asked if it could be arranged to ride a more laid back horse I was told no because they were already working the number of hours specified by their owners. One lesson, the instructor LEFT the school whilst I was on a bolshy horse and the horse decided it was not happy with me riding it, resulting in it crushing my leg against the wall, the more I tried to control the horse the worse it got, when I called for some one walking past to help the instructor told me it was my fault, because I should have told the horse what I wanted from it, very unhelpful and rude staff.

This sounds extremely unlikely the school has very high standards and I find this review hard to believe in any shape or form.

The council want to shut down Cardiff riding school and sell it to a private buyer. My friends and I have been riding at the school since we were children. The school is an important part of the community and unique to Wales. Don’t let the council close the school because once it’s gone it will be gone forever.

1 word and one word only AMAZING :) i have learned really quickly and all the staff are friendly and always happy to help :) the horses are all well trained and VERY gentle and well behaved. i have never had a bad experience with a horse in cardiff riding school like the previous riding school i have been to. and a realy good thing is that the horses are really well looked after.......they always have clean stables, fresh drinking water and a good supply of hay at all times and when they are turned out i have noticed that they are ALWAYS wearing coats which shows me that they are very well cared for and they are very well looked after.....i will always go to Cardiff Riding School until i finish all my grades and have completed all my learning! :)

I have been riding for seven years and started off at Cardiff Riding School. After my first 2 lessons there, a friend recommended Rockwood Riding Centre in Caerphilly. Seeing as i had only been riding for a number of weeks i decided to give Rockwood a try aswell. From the onset i fell in love with Rockwood riding centre and continued riding there for 6 years. Unfortuanelty i suffered a very bad fall resulting in me breaking my arm very badly in 3 places , i was unable to ride for 6 months. During the 6 months i moved house making it much easier for me to return to Cardiff riding school although very reluctantly because of my love for the horses and peeople in Rockwood. I lasted in cardiff riding school for just under 4 months , i found some of the horses very difficult to ride and get on with and considering i only just reuturned riding after my nasty accident , the staff were not very understanding and made me feel very uncomfortable. I did not find any of them very professional. Also, prices were expensive and you do not form a bond with any of the horses as you ride a different one everytime.I would never recommend this riding school to anyone but on the other hand i would strongly recommend Rockwood Riding School for there excellent horses ,staff and facilities of amazing treks across Caerphilly mountain with cheap lessons too.

Cardiff Riding School is a fantastic Riding School in terms of the quality of the Horses and Ponies, and Instruction. It is situated in a largely urban area, but when you're there it seems you're in the middle of the countryside which is great for those who wouldn't have access to the countryside otherwise - which gives you the oppurtunity to see an array of wildlife as well as enable those to Ride and learn about the most wonderful creatures on earth, who could not otherwise have the oppurtunity to spend time with Horses. The Horses and Ponies at CRS are perfect for the job they are required to do. They are all very well cared for by the hardworking Staff and unlike many other Riding Schools, the Horses and Ponies at CRS always appear to be content and seem to enjoy their life, and their work. You are taught from the outset that a Horse is a Horse and not a 'machine', which is also something many other Riding Schools neglect to teach their clients. I personally would recommend CRS to anyone interested in having Riding lessons or just simply learn more about Horses. The only 'downfall' of the Riding School is that sometimes people aren't put up to the next grade when they believe they should be, but it is understandable that you don't get moved up a grade if the - experienced, qualified - instructors don't believe you are at the adequate ability to be moved on, or that there aren't any spaces in the next grade! All-in-all CRS is a lovely place to be. Generartions of Families return there again and again, because the atmosphere and general running of the Yard is warm and welcoming - even in the wintertime! If you want to learn to Ride and gain experience of Horses for yourself, go to CRS, it's fab!

Cardiff Riding School is a really good riding school for the younger children but they tend 2 forget to put the children up a grade until u ask . Maybe a bit expensive but on the whole and overall very good ! The children will find the shows are great fun and the children have beaming smiles on there faces as they get in the car.The children have nice long lovely hacks and jumps outside they could possibly do more.i would have liked to have a free lesson before i had made my purchase instead of paying an £18 lesson if my daughter didnt like it thankfully she did! The toilets could do with a freshen up my daughter had been there for 3 years and we have been riding since she was 3.In the past we have been to other riding schools and this is probally the best, but now we have gone to get our own pony. Try to build up a cafe now !

Cardiff Riding School in Pontcanna Fields is nice. My two young daughters have recently started riding and really enjoy going to this school. The horses are great and the lessons have been mainly well structured. Although sometimes a new teacher hasn't realised the level they are at. Helpful and friendly staff. Lovely ponies that are matched to the pupils. However I do think the school is a little scruffy and could do with a little TLC and some money to be re-invested in the facilities.

Cardiff Riding School, Pontcanna Fields have Lovely horses, great open spaces, well maintained indoor school..
Sometimes the teachers forget about putting people up to the next lesson if you're too good to be in your lesson... Until you ask them about it.
I love going there.
