“Almost good”

written by Simon Spiers on 07/11/2011

I brought the Grado on reading many reviews of great sound quality. I find them comfortable and very lightweight. The build on the headphones is very cheap and plasticy, not what you would expect at this price range. After some running in to try are find some bass response, the result is mixed. Some tracks such as Pink floyd's Fletcher memorial home sounds good, with fantastic vocal detail, better in fact than my Senheiser hd580's! Low frequency response is also good with a fairly punchy sound. But it's the upper midrange and lower treble response that's just far to forward. Guitar sounds too harsh, as do many vocal tracks. I can't recommend these headphones on this matter alone. Fatigue soon sets in, wishing I had a graphic equaliser!
