“Wintringham Delays, delays and more delays ”

If you want to buy a house and then have delay after delay after delay then buy a house from Morris Homes. Originally given a moving in date of 5 months ago but the house keeps being pushed back with unrealistic reasons for delay!! If you pay a reservation plot fee, be prepared to then be ignored and given unreasonable push backs for completion… Read Full Review

“Terrible customer service ”

Logged a number of rather large issues with Morris Customer Care team, they have been appalling - 6 months later nothing has yet been resolved. The contractors used don’t turn up when they have been “booked in” or do an absolutely terrible “repair job” and the customer service representative are no help at all; corners are cut everywhere so the materials and contractors used are very very poor. “Poorly laid tarmac”

We moved into our Morris Home in summer 2019. Around 2 months later, our tarmac driveway was surfaced. The contractor that Morris Homes used botched the job, and now I have large hideous streaks of tar across the surface, as well as holes everywhere. Communication non existent. Moved into home in July 2017, noticed holes in back garden which can occur. After constant chasing this was inspected and was told it would be repaired. It is now May 2018, I have been told they will do nothing as it was due to lack of care for the garden. Absolutely agree they should be called customer care not and it's really annoying when they never call you back something for me that could of been sorted in one day took three weeks.

Oh how I wish I'd read reviews like this before I put down my deposit. Have found Morris Homes to be arrogant, uninterested, poor quality and habitually untruthful!

Regret ever knowing the name!

Only one resident has managed to sell their home after three years, at a lower cost than they bought it. No one can sell. Many of us want to get away from here but with the LEASE (£300 ground rent a year, increasing every ten years) and SERVICE CHARGES (£210 increasing every year) - we have to pay for the upkeep of a small play area at the end of the site - that is over £1000 a month at present! “Worst builders ever !!”

We are on Forest Grange Swadlincote. Dirty untidy site every day except Thursday when bosses walk around. Ineffective management. Not proactive sees problems and ignores them. One site with roads leading off in 4 directions so constant site traffic over the WHOLE site. Having come from a Taylor wimpey site there’s no comparison. Bad language by employees all over the site. Boys...... interesting that one of you is a sales manager for St Modwens. And the other one works in sales for another builder. You should know better. I have been to see your developments and they are not good. I considered buying from 3 builders and chose Morris Homes. We live on a building site. This will be like this until all the houses are finished. You should know this as you are in the industry. They do care but it is not always possible to have a clean and tidy site in the winter conditions. It was explained on the home demonstration that we would experience a few snags etc. They do not ignore you and I found them very pleasant to deal with.

So we would like to ask the person who replied to this post to get their facts straight before making comments!!!! We do work for other house builders but can categorically state that this review of Morris Homes has not been made by us!!!
Whilst we do have issues with Morris they are not linked to the build of our home or the state of the site (unlike other people). We have been happy with our house and reasonably happy with after service provided.
As you have rightly stated we do know better and we know the processes e.g. Snagging and we know what to expect whilst a developer is still building!!!
So I will reiterate my comment "get your facts straight" before commenting!!!!

Morris homes sell you the dream, the exterior of there houses are superb but once the cash is in there bank, they do not want to know you. My first gripe was when we purchased our house, the leasehold was £4800. “faults galore at Victoria Park, banbury”

I am a pensioner and thought stupidly that a new home would be best for me. I have had pages of problems and still waiting for some to be rectified. I have a gutter that the mortar has crumbled so that the brackets are forcing the bricks out. I had a gas leak in first 6 weeks due to cross-threaded pipe joints, leak at box and unsafe fitting of gas box- could have been really dangerous. “Very poor service, poor quality and awful people ”

We moved into the property in March 2017 and were very quickly had problems with the new build. The garden was full of building materials and clay soil the walls and ceilings were leaking water and there was loads of other faults. I could live with faults but to get the repairs done would have been good. I have had them back three or four times since to do the same jobs still not fixed. We did not get an option to buy ours .( Oakwood View , Cheshire ) Not been in a year yet and it's already been sold on , my next door neighbour wouldn't buy unless they sold it , he bought for £4200 on completion . We were told we could have first refusal after 2 years . In selling inconsistencies are not acceptable.

I write on behalf of 10 residents in relation to the substandard shared car park that was inadequately constructed by Morris Homes circa 2007. The failures of the car park were first reported to your customer services team back in March 2013. be warned, when you first go to look the staff are all over you, and make promises they have no intention of keeping. Lease - was told I could buy at later date for £6000, tried to and told no we are selling your lease to someone else next week - but I want to buy now and have the cash, no. Two years later you can buy it for just under £20,000 from the company that bought it and this will keep going up. “Sharp practice”

Putting aside the faults, which to be fair, have been mostly addressed satisfactorily, our detached house was leasehold (£300 per annum increasing every 10 years by RPI). We wanted to buy the freehold and when asked prior to purchase, they said that it would be £6000, but it could be bought later. This was more convenient for us but 3 months later they sold the freehold to Adriatic 3 (Guernsey) who then wanted £17750 ! “Shocking Quality”

If you want a new home in which the brickwork starts crumbling after a few year that this outfit is the one for you. There "Committment to Quality" is nothing more than marketing BS. 30% of the properties on my estate suffer from the same problem - crumbling chimneys. Its either poor design or poor quality brick. I cannot believe the ineptitude of staff at this site and the awful customer service one receives. They just do not communicate. Once you have purchased a property you no longer exist to them. Their staff come across at the start as jovial, kind and fun but as soon as you sign that reservation form it is next to impossible to get them to help. We couldn’t agree more. We moved to Forest Grange June 2017 worst decision of our lives. Sales staff, lovely before you sign, but complain and they blatantly ignore you. We have paid to have work done as we do NOT trust Morris homes to do it correctly ! We didn’t have a working shower when we moved in or a plug in the sink and the house was filthy. They didn’t care !! The site is left in a disgusting state at times. The management is ineffectual. They are not proactive or even reactive, the builders laugh at him behind his back and call him Harry Potter. We had a gas leak when we first moved in we were days without hot water. We had to have a new meter. It was a long saga. All in all buy somewhere else !!!!!!
