“Positives: ”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 14/04/2011

Positives:
+ Good 10mp camera with a variety of features (this is why I purchased the phone in the first place)
+ Easy to use (I especially like the ease of sony ericsons)
+ Built in wi-fi connectivity
+ 3G

Negatives:
- Too bulky
- Heavy
- BROKEN speaker after less than 6 months (same with others I knew with the phone)
- Although good camera, xenon flash makes people look orange or hair look different colours than normal
- Bad network coverage with Orange (sometimes no signal or just one bar)
- Not worth my money (orange contract: 18months, £20p/m, unlim texts, 300 mins - considering how often upgraded phones are released)

“This handset should come with a health warning! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 27/07/2010

This handset should come with a health warning!

My excitement at being in receipt of this all singing, all dancing 8.1MP camera phone was short lived. Six weeks after entering an 18month contract with the 3 Network through the high street store Phones4U, the ear piece stopped working rendering the phone element useless so it was returned to Phones4U who refused to replace it because it had exceeded the 6 weeks they give for a full refund and so it went to be repaired, I had afterall entered into an 18 month contract and now had no phone after just 8 weeks!!! It transpired that this would be the first of many trips my handset would make to the factory for repair and each time it was for a different problem. By the time the third problem occurred I was understandably fed up but my stress levels continued to climb as Phones4U then washed their hands of their responsibility, my contract was with them, and left me to deal with 3 direct. The guys in the high street store were very helpful but communications over the phone were difficult due to language barriers and following scripts but they did at least try to understand and put the problem right.

I fulfilled my part of an 18 month contract thanks to an old handset - my C905 gave up the ghost long before the contract's expiry BUT I cannot say that Sony Ericsson, 3 and especially Phones4U have fulfilled theirs. I feel totally let down by all three establishments and as a result have reverted back to a Nokia handset, cancelled my very expensive contract with 3 and now use PAYG and to top it off, I get all of the benefits bar an expensive phone that doesn't work for a fraction of the price I was paying.

I've had the c905 for about 9 months. In my expireince it is a very good handset with more than enough features for myself. The camera is excellent and simple to use, more importantly the lens has a slide cover which protects it from scratching. It has a large screen which is big enough to watch films etc on. Battery life is resonable and all functions are used easily.
All this and it fits easily into a pocket!!

I am coming to the end of an 18 month contract with the C905. I love this phone and wish sony erricson would make a newer smaller version. I have had to send it back a few times due to faults but was replaced within a day. The camera is amazing, very easy to work. It fits into my pocket easily. Battery life isnt a problem as i charge it every night. Sound is good from speakers, good quality screen, good size buttons. Never had problem with it freezing. Best phone i have had.

I waited a year and half to get this phone, and I finally got it less than half of the original price. That was fine. My speakers are still good; camera, perfect. Most prominent problem after two months of purchase and immediately after first update was difficulties in charging; completely annoying. It just wouldn't charge, making me feel like my charger is bad, when I have two more chargers from previous phones. I have to depend on the USB wire, before sending it in for repairs. Secondly is, during a conversation, the line goes silent like the other party is on hold without me pressing the hold button, yet minutes are counting. I am yet to discover problems.

I have a c905, was pretty cool the first time, 2 months after my speakers went dud. i had to send for repairs and took another 2 months to get it.

-speakers a dud.
-battery life a dud.
-key pads a dud.
-it's bulky.

i would never recommend this to a anyone. unless you just want it for it's camera which is a bad idea. you could just buy a generic digital camera with a cheaper price than buying this C905. thanks a lot sony

written by on 18/08/2009

Hi, i have got the pink C905 and at first i was in love with it and i thought i would be quite happy to keep it until my contract was up. i actually referred it to a friend who did end up getting the black C905. However i wish i had not because about a month after i brought it the speaker went and about a week later my friends black one lost its speaker as well. so it was not just a one off from my phone. Also the cancel button is not working and no damaged has happened to my phone and screws have fallen out as well. The black one got a tiny bit of water in it and is now not working at all and my friend has had to send it off to get repaired. I can not fault the camera or the phone its self its just the odd bits that make this phone not worth getting. i will not be getting it again.

written by on 12/08/2009

I got a Sony Ericsson c905 in Nov 2008 as my bday gift. It have a stunning look with 8.1 megapixel Camera. But unfortunately its one of the worst models I have ever seen. Its not been an year old piece but it needed service for every 1month duration. So it was in the service centre for more period rather than with me. I just got irritated with its functionality. The re-sale value is also tooooo low where as the piece was damn expensive. C905 SUCKS. Guys I advice all not to go for this model anytime.

When I first got this phone it was the best thing ever i couldn't believe how good quality the camera and conversation functions were, its great. But now only having it since April the phone turns off, it freezes,it turns off and when u turn it on it goes into Chinese,it needs charged every night, after being fixed for the first time iv had it back about 2 weeks and now the speaker only works when its on loudspeaker which is not very handy.sending it back tomorrow for another fixing. would not recommend as not trustworthy!!

when i first saw the Sony Ericsson C905, it looked amazing with its small compact size casing. its a very light phone although it deos feel like your carrying nothing in your pockets, so you may feel like you lost your phone for those who are paranoid. Apart from this, the features of this pohne are incredible and is a phone to have.

This is a sony ericsson C905. Menus same old same old :( tats the down side but hey at least I know may around with my eys shut !!!!!!

Camera is good but colours are not a good as my wifes camera phone which is only a £80 phone (LG kc550 orsay "or sumfing like that..... good phone by the way). Phones solid enough. Mp3 player is good. Some of the menus have changed ...... pics are now arranged neatly in blocks of Months in thumb nails. Pics auto rotate when u turn the phone sideways. Web browser is very good. It's worth saying that I had a Samsung Tocco for a week and took it back and changed it for this C905. The Tocco's web browser was really bad u were clicking on all the wrong things :( but C905 flies around lovely on the web... has WIFI for down at the Mcdonalds at WIFI spots has 3g+ too. ERM think I've covered it all LOL. Good phone a bit boring but the Tocco was "Jazzy" but rubbish so i say stay away from gimick phones !!!!!!! Tried the Cookie Tocco LG Viewty. There all slow you click on the wrong things texting is just silly !!!!! Tried a iphone too now thats got the only touch screen worth using BUT is a Apple so what do u expect.

This is the worst fone I have ever had!!wouldn't recommend it to any1!!battery life is woeful!!only lasts one day-needs to be charged every nite. i am currently awaiting it to be repaired for a second time in 4 weeks.(bear in mind the fone is only seven weeks old!!) phones 4 u have admitted there is a bad batch of these phones about but they wont replace the fone!have to send it for repair every time.it keeps resetting itself to default setting and it wont recognize my Sim card. i went to charge it and it said 'battery cannot be charged. please use a Sony ericsson battery!!!!' The only good thing about this phone is the camera and even the pictures i had taken were deleted off my phone when it took on a mind of its own. DON'T buy this phone. u will regret it!!I'm suck with it now for 24months :(

“Sony Ericsson C905 is a very stylish and well put...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by discomeats on 05/05/2009

Sony Ericsson C905 is a very stylish and well put together phone. The camera and videos are excellent, and it is very easy to use. I didn't have any issues with battery life, and found the internet was pretty decent and quick.

Unfortunately I have had a number of problems and am on my 3rd replacement, which is suffering from the same problem. Doesn't pick up signal where other phones do, and will not make calls even when showing signal sometimes. I have tried the sim card in my K700i which works perfectly. My c905 wont pick up signal, and if it does have signal, 90% of the time incoming calls go straight to answerphone and I recieve an SMS informing me of a missed call. This happens when I have full signal!

I am quite dissapointed, as I have had plenty of SE phones before and no problems (all still working!) but this one, for all its otherwise excellent features, fails at it's main purpose - making calls!

I would seriously advise against purchasing this phone! If you need a good camera, the c902 has a 5mp one which produces pretty good photos, that may be a good alternative if you still want a SE, but one that works!

Mine is orange branded (UK), running orange software.

written by binio on 28/04/2009

Got the Sony Ericsson C905 phone as free upgrade from O2. Really excited about its camera which is really good.
When it comes to SE phones I have great experience with K800i which was working horse as for phone. I can not however say that about C905 as its battery dies after two days. Phone is not even used so I am assuming It dies within a day if I use it.

It has got WIFI which is helpful but I can not get GPS to work as it persistently tries to connect the network. Ok if at home , not so great outside if telephone uses your internet usage through O2 access point. GPS should be sorted out as Nokia does.

Call quality is good, handful of ring tones and other stuff which is useful.
There is no power safe mode to spare battery. Even if you knock screen brightness down, switch off WIFI discovery and bluetooth battery still gets drained quite quickly.

Binio's Response to binio's Review

Year after I upgraded to C905.
<br/>I would not recommend that phone to anyone as keys fail to function, speaker does not work so I can receive calls on loudspeaker only. Battery got worse and currently lasts one day. Camera still takes great pictures. Outcome: Great camera, useless phone.

The Sony Ericsson C905 is a breath of fresh air after owning a LG Viewty with its awkward navigation and over rated touch screen. This phone is great , came with 8gb memory stick ,has excellent battery life and camera, best of all
is a cinch to navigate around ,even for a 'thicko' like me!
