I have been ripped of to the tune of £75000 by MRI I paid for a studio aparment in Silver Mountain which has been built but Mri have not bothered to get Art 16 to complete which leaves me with an apartment i can not use. I would like to hear from people in the same situation with a view about doing something ie completing ourselves.

like almost everyone i have been ripped off by MRI and have lost over £60,000.One of the reviews recomended CPC holdings but thier website will not come up. I read about a group of MRI customers grtting togather and taking out a collective action against them and one group who took over thier apartments and i was wondering if all you owners out there would be interested in taking some sort of action together because as things stand no one is going anywhere and we are out a lot of money.I to tried to get the athorities and law enforcement to do something but to no avail.I can be contacted ar [email protected]

Further, i have been in touch with CPC Holdings and spoke to Liz who after looking at my paper work has agreed to take on my case She has asked me to see if i can get more people so she can take out a group action which works out cheaper for the clients. it will involve two cases 1 against MRI and 2 The easier one, against Legal Independance. So if you would like to have a chance to get some, if not all, your money back please get in touch with me at eddie_peva [@] yahoo.com

AS Mc ANTHONY has been a rogue plus fraudster with all his comrades since the start of his group starting up in his swindling business as I told everyone at our forum meeting in Lisburn an some still thought the world of him but were suppose to receive their properties in time an as i told them we will see but as he has been up in court twice in MARBELLA twice and has lost with his comrades whom are very heavily in his rogue business as they are twice as bad as him in aid an abetting on his behalf to exstorting money out of people its time boys and his family should be put away for life on biggest crime in laundering money.

I am also owed a great deal of money by Mr MacAnthony and MRI, and I have just seen a crowd of people on this forum in the same position as myself. I have no intention of letting this gentleman get away with it, even if he does own a football team. A number of us have gone to a company called CPC Holding in Durham, UK, you can check out their website if you are interested. It's

I bought a property in Bulgaria 4 years ago through MRI. We paid money upfront and then a further £12,000.00 deposit. We never got the property and were left with a £12,000.00 debt. I tried and tried to get something done, I phoned the embassy and the ombudsmen, sent solicitors letters but notbody was interested, after months of trying I gave it up as a bad job. It appears now though that many people are complaining about them and I was wondering what routes people have taken to try and get their money back? Thanks,

Hi annamj, there's a company we're dealing with that's moving really quickly to get it sorted. It's like a breath of fresh air after so long stuck in the mud!
We were given a useless piece of paper saying that we could have a credit note!! Fat lot of good that is. We havent got one even though they said we could and anyway, they've got nothing available and I just dont want to deal with them anymore. We're just fighting to get our money back now after all the lies.
We went to a meeting with the company and met a few people in a similar boat with MRI and people who had problems with other companies around the world. As sad as it was to see people stuck like us, it did feel good to know they've had results previously and that they know what they're taking about.
You can email me if you like. I'm andrew shiply at mail dot com (all one word) and I'll tell you who they are!)
All the best,

I went to a show in London around 2006 and was convinced that I could take equity from my house, put down deposits on discounted unbuilt Appartments in Bansko and by the time they were completed, I could remortgage them based on their new value, release my equity and put this back into my house in the UK. From being picked up from Sophia until being droped off again a couple of days later - the sales guys went to town on everyone with their constant barrage of smooth b*llsh*t sales talk. SO deposits paid. One appartment was valued at around 120000E and I paid a dposit on this, when it came to completion, the Surveyor ssaid it was only 90,000E and the developer (not MRI) asked for the extra 30000E in cash which I didn't have so I said I just wanted to walk away. I think MRI put this 30000 on top of the actual value and took this up front. anyway, the Developer said they would drop the purchase price to complete the deal and I got myself a nice 9.9% Bulgarian Interest Only Mortage which given the ever changing exchange rate gets more expensive as the years go by. There is no rental market and the place has never had any interest. I went to see the appartment a couple of years ago - the electric had been cut off as there was an outstanding 600E bill. Either the developer had plugged their cement mixer into the mains or the property had been let out. All the heating was found to be on full even though the power had been cut off. The Developer kindly advised me that I still owed them the 30000E difference - for which they can swivel as they said they would drop the price. I could not get answers to who had used the flat / electricity but only MRI and the Developer had the keys. The Developer has been hounding me for maintenance charges. I have walked away from the place and have no idea what the current state of play is. The other three appartments are another story . . . I have still haven't been able to recoup the £100,000 that I sank into Bansko to pay back the equity on my house. Lesson Learned: Don't test the waterwith both feet. NEVER make a decision on a sales visit - always go home and sleep on it because while you're out there, you're as good as hypnotised. Don't put all your money on Red / Black. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

I brought through MRi in Spain and feel properly ripped off. Everything in the original post on this site is true and basically you will be paying well ove the odds if you buy through them DONt DO IT!
I am taking legal action against them and using a UK based lawyer. Anyone with experinece of taking legal action against these very unprofessional company then please post your experiences.
Thanks Jim

Hi Jimbob,
We're taking action against them too...
Did you manage to get anywhere?
Thankfully we seem to be moving really quickly to get it sorted. Which is like a breath of fresh air!
We were given a useless piece of paper saying that we could have a credit note! We never got one even though they said we could and I dont want to deal with them anymore anyway. We just want our money back.
We went to a meeting with the company and met people in pretty much that same situation as everyone on here. It was great to see they'd had previous success and that they're not full of hot air like so many people are. Most other companies are glorified ambulance chasers if you ask me!
You can email me if you like. I'm andrew shiply at mail dot com (all one word) and if you're not getting anywhere perhaps they can help.
All the best,
Andy

We have heard from thousands of MRI clients over the last few months and about 98% of those we spoken to have had quite severe problems. If you are one of those IMMEDIATELY change your lawyer to one who is independent of MRI. This in itself may sort out many of your problems. It is useful for all of you to campaign from the same place rather than be spread out across many sites. As mentioned previously: www.mri-sg.org/ deal just with MRI issues.
Sign petitions so that those of us with legal action against MRI have the backing of Europe and some real clout to shore up existing legislation.
If you're about to buy through them...don't!

Amazing how so many people have had negative experiences because of buying through MRI, but one person here gives a positive view. I wonder if he works for MRI?
My advice would be - don't touch these guys with a bargepole. Lies and more lies to get you to buy, then when it all goes wrong they don't want to know.
They will, very convincingly, tell you what you want to hear to make you buy, but it won't be the truth.

this company was run totally by crooks.i have been sold a apt of poor quality and shabby workmanship.i paid 1300 euros in Nov2007 because a salesman from mri told me that they had full rentals for the next 3-4 months,i never heard a thing once i had paid the money and decided to visit the following july only to find that the member of staff who met me requested quite strongly that i sign a disclaimer stating that i was happy with the apt and any snags thereafter would be my responsibility before he could hand over the key for inspection.i obviously refused and after much arguing got hold of the key.as i walked thru a blatantly unfinished building i was met by hundreds of cardboard boxes left in the hallways along with building workers.the apt had many major faults such as vent not working above cooker, drain flooding water out under the sink, floors out of level handrails screwed to walls with 1 screw instead of 4.the swimming pool was still being laid no restuarant,gym.bar,staff,television,fridge. i strongly argued and was told that as my apt was finished there was no comeback at which point i refused to stay on a building site and told staff i would be returning to UK and start court proceedings. they then put me up at thier expense in another hotel for my 2 nights in Bulgaria.the apts are not 3 klm as stated but 5 miles (8 klm) from slopes. mri said they would refund 500 euroes for rental agreement but never sent a cent.while i was over there bumped into a family who were already in process of making documentary about this outfit.feel sorry for anyone who bought thru this company especially as i was going to by with a company called seaterra in northern cyprus, what a mistake that was on my behalf

MRI set me up to purchase at the International Retirement Club at Lagos, Portugal - all highly recommended. The developer went bust and we lost our deposit. Never again - these people are crooks and thieves. The developer was one Peter Weaver - avoid.

The exact same experience happened to me. We placed a deposit in 2007 and waited for the IRC to be built. In 2009 surprise, surprise a phone call from Ana Veira -a lawyer appointed by MRI to represent us, telling me the Espaco (Peter Weavers lot - supposedly based in South Africa) had gone bust and a company who apparently owned the land called Neocivil and were the actual builders of the IRC, had taken over and decided, without any consultation, to remove the retirement club element and just have the building as a collection of holiday apartments. They discounted them to what we discovered to be a more realistic price but wouldnt entertain our request for the return of the deposit even thogh the original contract was not with them. Between 2009 and 2010 we explored a number of ways we could get some justice but in the end decided that on our own we would just be throwing good money after bad and we let it go. This was by default the best decision of all as I am sure we would have lost a great deal more had we completed the purchase of the apartment. Looking back the deposit would probably now buy one of these Units !!! It was and still is a dark period in our family history as we lost £ks of our hard earned money on what was a very clever scam. DO NOT GO NEAR THESE PEOPLE is my message to anyone even thinking of buying overseas!

ADVICE TO ANYONE, PLEASE DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE CROOKS. THEY ARE VERY APPROCHABLE WHEN THEY WANT YOUR MONEY AND ONCE THEY'VE GOT IT, YOU ARE THEN COMPLETELY IGNORED.
THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE LOCKED UP.

MRI are nothing but a bunch of thieves. We tried to buy an apartment in Romaina through them. We have given 43,000euro so far and have come to a conclusion that some things are better left alone before lose everything we have. Darragh is a smooth talker and will do anything to get money out of your pocket. We found out that the do not even have a licence to build apartments in Romania, we were made to sign some form forfeting our money (under duress of course) we only realised this after going through their documents over and over again. Never sign anything from MRI under pressure always check with your lawyer first. These are con artists of a kind. Beware my brothers and sisters. After taking our money he offered us a Bulgarian apartment in Aspen Heights for an additional 28,000euro. We have decided that we are not going to talk to him or his people ever again. The more you talk to the MRI people the more you lose money. You are better off keeping your money at home under the bed or something.

MRI / DCC Property are nothing but a pack of con artists. They rip people off and brag about it. They offer a development which looks promising but the reality and their service are exact opposite. Do not touch them. Just google problems with MRI Overseas. It can't all be lies!!

We have been on a viewing trip with MRI Overseas to Bdorum, Turkey last year. Before the trip we were promised that the money we spent for flights would be returned to us before we leave Turkey. Not so! We have written to them on numerous occassions - they just ignore us..

I purchased a Comprehensive furniture pack from MRI in Jan 2007 after being pressurised by their aftersales team telling me that :
A - my apartment was almost compete and
B - the price of furniture was about to go up.
The cost was a staggering Euro 6450.00 for a small Studio!
Two years later and after telling them for for almost three month that the apartment is complete they ignored my requests for an update until I wrote an angry email to them last week asking for my money back. Their reply? Pay another Euro 1229.00 or lose all of your money, as there is now Vat on furniture! They never even pointed out that the original price was net of vat!!
This is just one of many problems I have had with MRI
Written on: 07/06/2009
I agree with this review because..My parents have come across same problems. There maybe something collectively that you all may be able to do about getting your money back?.
Written on: 18/10/2009
I agree 100% . Also been ripped off by MRI and cohorts. Still ripping me off by refusing to install furniture that has already been paid for and have a receipt to prove it. Now they're asking for vat or some such rubbish. They're cheating lying scum. Don't go near them.

I have bought a studio in Bulgaria and find myself in the same position. Has anyone been able to extract their furniture from MRI after facing this situation?
