Been to Protaras twice this year already with Olympic. This time we have just returned from a week in the Plaromare Apartments in Pernera area of Protaras. Loved every minute of it. The rooms are a little dated but perfectly fine and have everything needed. You pay 7 euros per night for the aircon which was needed as so hot unless you have a side apartment as my daughter did, then the breeze kept the apartment really cool. The maid came in every day. She changed our towels 5 days out of the 7, sheets once and mopped the floor, emptied the bins and left new toilet rolls every day. They were really friendly also. 24 hour reception with always someone there so felt quite safe. Staff all very friendly. Food in hotel bar very nice and good prices as at the moment in cyprus, meals are very expensive in bars and restaurants so for a hotel bar to offer good prices that is good. Drinks are cheap. Pint of Leon lager only 2 euros. Swimming pool quite small but great. Was warmed up by the sun every day so felt like you were getting in a warm bath. Location brilliant. Lovely to sit at the outside bar area in the sun looking out at the sea and lovely surroundings. Just up from the beach and directly opposite the watersports part. 5 minute walk to bars and restaurants (Mojitos really nice and Fools and Horses also good), 10 min walk to centre of Pernera (El Cavalier((Italian)) favourite restaurant of ours) and a lovely 20 min walk on the promenade to Protaras with a few bars on the way overlooking the sea. Must visit Romeos for the greek night (tues & fri) and experience a 'Meze'. Absolutley beautiful. Also the Shirley Valentine boat trips are great and value for money at 5 euros each. They are located just to the right of the beach. All in all would definitely return to the Platomare apartments again.

we first stayed at the platomare when we booked a last minute cheap holiday in 2004 and we have been back every year since. The staff are so friendly as are the cleaners and the bar staff, the rooms are cleaned daily to a good standard and the pool area is spotles, we have never had any problems getting a sunbed no matter what time of day, A 15 minuite walk along the cliff top path takes you into protaras or ten minutes the other way takes you into penera which is smaller than protaras but in my opinion more friendly, both resorts have great restrants (to many to mention). The only down side for me is that i feel there could be a bit entertainment on a night time there is a quiz night but maybe a bbq or cypriot night.
