Neither of the two reviews are actually talking about the Welsh Highland Railway, Porthmadog. They are both about Welsh Highland Railway. WHR Porthmadog - now renamed Welsh Highland Heritage Railway - is an excellent attraction with a super team of staff that I would recommend to anyone.

The Welsh Highland Railway had plenty of space, the train was virtually empty so we had lots of room to spread out. The station at Carnarfon was in a portacabin and felt more like a building site. The area around the station is a little run down and I was a little concerned to leave the car there. I felt it was quite pricey for what it was, the scenery for about two thirds of the journey is rather dull. The speed we were travelling at you would think Nigel Mansell was driving the train. It was most disconcerting.

A lovely day out with a difference, due to expand in 2009 when an extra part of the railway opens through more fantastic scenery. A great bonus for the car driver who can sit and take a good look at the scenery for a change. A real 'not to be missed 'venue when visiting north Wales, but not very well known so not crowded out.
