“Happy to take your money but not give it back”

Opened a fixed term savings account, which transferred to a normal account upon completion of the agreed term. Left the money there as, quite honestly, it was down my list of priorities after bereavements and other fun occurrences. So when I try to log on to transfer my out I get a message saying my account is locked, I contact Virgin Money to unlock account only to be told that I now have to prove my identity again. Missed a payment on a 0% credit card in the pressure of planning our wedding (balance due two days before). It was an honest mistake and technically breaches contract, however we swiftly rectified the mistake and agreed that the interest being charged for both that month and the following one would not be challenged as this was our error at a stressful time. “Ruthless and taking advantage of people”

“Getting your money out is far harder than putting it in”

We wanted to close my wife's on line ISA Account. However the account was password locked and there is no online way of sorting it.So we wrote and sent recorded delivery. After 3 weeks no reply, so my wife rang and the account was reset. This was confirmed with the correct details on the website, which I printed off. “Watch the small print”

After my experience with Virgin Money I could not recommend this company for any financial product. Put simply I feel like I have been conned out of money. I took out a buy to let mortgage and found the stated 'offer' valid period affected the length of the discounted period of the mortgage. This means that if you accept the offer in March and like most mortgages do not complete the transaction for three months you will lose out financially as the discounted period clock starts to tick a lot… Read Full Review

“Sound mortgage lender”

I am a buy to let investor and have used Virgin Money mortgages directly a couple of times now. The best thing about them is the staff are polite and knowledgeable. They do have tight criteria - but if you or your property doesn't fit, they will say. So I find them easy to simply ring and ask info. The staff also clearly have good notes on their system as you only have to give your mortgage or application number and they immediately have all info to hand. Virgin offer a good ISA cash rate at the moment. Opening an account and transferring other ISAs was fairly straight forward. So we have a BTL mortgage which needed to be re done, decided to try VM.... biggggggg mistake!!! Used their solicitors, who did nothing! But despite wanting over £1000 from us, Virgin money blames me for the mortgage not being registered within their time frame. This is despite me telling the branch that the solicitors were being a problem. 2 complaints and nothing sorted. “staff stole my money from my virgin money prepaid card.”

“Discrimination at Virgin Money when opening a bank account”

I was denied a Savers account despite having others accounts in other banks, Uk National since birth, 30 years teaching and have never been declined for any thing. When asked why, they opened the account and then closed it, they where unwilling to explain their actions. “Unable to even close an account”

I've spend the last 8 months trying to close my credit card with them and get the outstanding credit balance refunded. Every time I call they have an excuse why they are unable to do it and make a promise that it will be sorted soon. There has been no transactions on the card for 10 months and the credit balance which they owe me hasn't changed either. So far, I had no luck and it doesn't seem like complaining helps either.
