“Avoid the granddaughter ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 138Brooks on 13/01/2024

Absolutely horrific owners , the granddaughter manipulates people and only wants there money , won’t let anyone help each other as she would loose out on a pitiful £7 , it’s her way or the highway , if you don’t suck up to her you’ll be chucked off before you know it with no notice , the dogs poo in the stables and gets left for us to pick up , livery is done half hearted and shaving out on top of the muck that needs picking up even tho you pay for the service, the fields are full of ragworts , would be a lovely yard if she just legged it ????

“Avoid at all costs ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JordynPrater1960 on 13/01/2024

This could be a nice yard, just a pity the granddaughter of the owners is such a vindictive, money oriented control freek. Horse’s welfare are a low priority and her only concern is how much money she can get out of you for livery. If she’s not making money of you she doesn’t want you there. People on the yard are nice, just avoid the granddaughter who likes to throw her authority around and pick on the younger and vulnerable.

“Awful owners”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Seanl51 on 28/12/2023

My friend was on this yard a few years ago and in general is a lovely yard with good facilities. The bad side is the people that own it. The granddaughter is an absolute horror and likes to bully young kids, she tried to reason with her which was a mistake as she just makes your life even more miserable and she eventually moved off to a lovely yard with friendly people.

“Friendly family Yard”

★★★★★

written by Yelsel7810 on 13/02/2014

I have been lucky enough to have been on Dye House for nearly 3 years, I can honestly say hand on heart it is one of the best if not the best yards in the area. The majority of the liveries have been there several years. I have found all the liveries friendly, The owners are fantastic and really cant do enough for you it is a very well run yard if something is broken it is fixed the very next day. the midden is on the back of a tractor and taken a few days a week so it doesnt smell. The indoor is brilliant all year riding and with british weather we need it! with the option to use the outdoor. There is also a communial cafe with a heater so you can make a drink or food and get a warm. This is one of the few yards that you can walk on in shoes and not get covered in muck as all paths are concrete and you can leave your dog for a wash and brush in the Grooming parlour. I had bad news of late and the whole yard offered a lot of support. more like a family then a Livery yard. Lovely atmosphere would highly recommend to anyone.

“Could be a lovely yard”

★★★☆☆

written by on 11/08/2012

I was on this yard with my daughter, its a lovely yard with a large indoor and nice large stables. The downside my daughter was bullied by the owners grand-daughter,i did go and have a word with her grand-mother which to my regret was a mistake as she would not have a word said wrong about her, and more or less told me if i didn't like it move off. After that my daughters life was made so miserable by her she wouldn't go down there any more. We moved off just after that to a lovely friendly yard which my daughter is very happy

“Bad yard”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 02/07/2012

I was on this yard for a while it is a lovely yard with great facilities, but is very bitchy, the daughter (Bev) is a bully and if you don't suck up to her, and be in her little gang your days are numbered on there, When your riding in the indoor she will deliberately start banging around to spook your horse and make nasty comments when she has her so called friends there, (Which they probably don't like her but to scared of getting thrown off.

“Would not reccomend to others”

★★☆☆☆

written by jazzymum on 24/01/2012

I want to be truthful and factual with my review.I too have kept my pony on his yard and left!!The facilities on the yard are superb abd cater for any owners needs. However, the down side is, this yard is VERY bitchy and clicky which causes an atmosphere if like me I did not get involved with all the nonsense. The main problem is the owners (Who are elderley and delightful) daughter (Bev)and grandaughter. The daughter who is in her 40's is the main cause, she is a bully and all the younger more vunerable pony owners go along with her to keep in the crowd. There are some lovely facilities at the yard including a great tea room but if the daughter is there, she is a first class wicked woman that if you are not in her gang- look out and dont dare go in the tea room. The grand daughter can be slightly OTT but is overall ok. I would never recommend this yard due to my experience there which is a shame as great facilities for ponies.

Dye House Farm has everything you could need in a livery yard. It has excellent facilities inculding a purpose built indoor school with a state of the art wax cushion floor which is not only dust free it is the best possible flooring you can ride on to reduce the risk of lameness to your horse. My vet recomended I move my horse to Dye House Farm as he kept on going lame on my old yard even though it had a new sand and fibre outdoor school. I was told those such surfaces were too deep and weren't helping my horse. Since my move my horse hasn't had a days lameness and i've even been able to start to compete him again. It ia a family run yard and both owners and liveries are all very friendly. I strongly recommend it.

★★☆☆☆

written by on 18/12/2010

FORS: This is a good average yard which is good value for money, nice indoor. The indoor has a nice surface with hardly any dust. Some nice big stables some smaller one. Yard owners live onsite and dont let anyone on site so good security.

The yard owner is strict which is no bad thing.

AGAINSTS: The granddaughter of the yard is owner is nasty and acts like she owns the place (shes always right). It is a very opinionated yard and other liveries tend to look down on the newer riders if they dont have the best of everything.

As long as you just want to go and ride and keep yourself to yourself then you should be OK just dont let the snooty ones who know everything get to you.

I found this review not helpful because...This person has obviously never been a livery on the yard. I am a yard member and can asure anyone reading this review that the yard is nothing like they have made it out to be. We are all very friendly and come from all walks of life.

I have never been to the yard, so rely on reviews from others who have experience. I am looking for a livery yard at the moment.

From what I read in the reviews, the facilities are excellent - no one has said otherwise. However, what is ringing loud and clear is that there are issues with those who run the yard>

Reading the "excellent" reviews, it seems like someone connected to the yard is writing these to get a better overall review rating. This is sad because you should really be taking in the feedback given and making improvements in that area

I don't think anyone was being overly harsh, just expressing their disappointment and reasons why they left the yard.

Rather than take offence, take note, and reviews may well improve

Meantime, I will take note of the honest reviews here and look elsewhere.

I found this review very helpful because...out of all the reviews I would say this is the most honest one all of the others seem to be written by the same person as if it is taken from the Farms Website the description. I too have been on this yard and moved because of favouritsm, but that is not for all of the liveries some are nice.

“Dye House Farm is in my opinion the best livery yard...”

written by on 11/11/2010

Dye House Farm is in my opinion the best livery yard in the area. It has large american barn style stables and outdoor traditional ones. So everything your horse could need. The yards are kept spotlessly clean.

You have the use at any time of the floodlit outdoor arena and the indoor arena which has a state of the art waxed surface so no dust is created when riding, and use of the show jumps when you want them.

There is a heated kitchen for all the liveries to use with tables and chairs, fridge, kettle and microwave oven which overlooks the indoor school.

It's a very friendly yard where the owners go out of their way to assist you in any way they can.

I strongly recommend this yard to anyone.
