I like this Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for the Ps2, the game is easy to play and I find the gameplay very fun!
Infact the only bad thing for me to say is that your mostly riden not snake and I think that Snake is the most fun to play but I would recommend this playstation 2 metal gear solid 2 game to anyone!

This game is perfect in every single way. Buy it now! It has everything a good game needs, including addictive gameplay, good characters not slot-mouthed nobodies, intense gameplay, playable structure and much more. And believe me, it has the best story ever seen in a video-game before.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty took the world of gaming by storm with it's advanced graphics engine and the amazing story line.

When I first played MGS2, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The gameplay is intense with plenty of boss fights.
You can also play a little pre-mission... mission with Solid Snake trying to seize a ship carrying the new advanced ('better than Metal Gear REX') 'Metal Gear Ray'.

“MGS 2 Sons of Liberty is one of the best sneaking...”

★★★★★

written by capecod on 17/02/2005

MGS 2 Sons of Liberty is one of the best sneaking games on the PS2. The graphics are top notch even although this is one of the earlier PS2 games. The storyline is similar to a film storyline. It keeps you gripped from start to end. You start off as Snake on board a tanker taken over by Russian Terrorists. Metal gear RAY is housed in the belly of the tanker and Snake must stop the terrorists and a few familiar characters from getting their hands on it. After that you go on to the Plant miision and play as the rather annoying, woman-like Raiden or Jack as he is known in the real world. You play as Raiden for 90% of the game. There are a few surprises along the way in the plant mission.

The characters are mostly the same e.g Cambell, Snake, Otacon etc but there are a lot of brilliant new characters that you learn to love. All of the bosses are new and harder than in the previous game, they range from being a whizz with knives to and master bomber to one who cannot be hit by any bullets or weapons and thus cannot die.
Some other characters include Rose, Raiden's girlfriend who saves data for you, Emma Emmerich, Otacon's sister who can destroy metal gear as she is a whizz with computers but what childhood fear will hold her back from doing so? Finally there is Plisken whom Raiden meets early on in the game. This familiar face will reveal his true self later in the mission.

Completing the game is an acomlishment in itself as you need a lot of strategy to finish both missions. When you have completed the game there is the option of going back and collecting all the dog tags from the enemies which I don't reccommend you do because it takes ages.

From defusing bombs to rescuing people to starring in your own love story, Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty is one of the best stealth games on the PS2.
I hope my review was helpful to you.

“Metal gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty is a welcome...”

★★★★★

written by British 241 on 31/12/2004

Metal gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty is a welcome relief to the gun related games out there. What most people will notice at first is the fantastic graphics. Considering this was released fairly early on, the graphics are one of the best out there.

Another thing is that the game has a near film storyline, a lot of the game is devoted to the fantastic cinematic scenes. These are glorious to watch but can be too long (some lasting up to about 20 mins), however you can easily skip these.

One of the things which seperates this from other gun games is that this is 3rd person. This is surprisingly effective but uses a first person view for aiming the guns. This, in my opinon, makes the game more fun and stretches it out.

A further thing is that it relies on stealth, but you can attempt guns blazing, although as most people will find this is not a good idea and the "back up squad" will surround you in seconds and kill your character very shortly after that.

A third thing which makes it original is that it has video training with the buttons for doing the action on the right. This means that if you hate reading manuals you can watch the videos and it is easier to take in.

The final thing original is the use of dog-tags. It is common to hold up an enemy point your pistol at him and he will shake off his dog-tag. This allows a second task of collecting all of the dog-tags for rewards after you complete the chapter(s).

However if you hate collecting items and you complete the game, you may find that it suddenly becomes repetitive and you may find the game rather linear. However this has not stopped me playing the game as it is superbly fun even after about 1 or 2 years on.

The only too dificult part is if you put it on hard or the extreme difficulties, however this allows hardcore fans to keep on playing without criticizing it of being too easy.

So to conclude, this is one of the best PS2 games out there of it's genre. You are only going to hate it if you hate the genre or put it on a too high difficulty or if you find the storyline too complex.

MGS2 Sons of Liberty is an excellent game. No doubt about it. Highly polished, highly playable and vey impressive to watch. It's presented extremely well, especially the intro. But, as many people have said before the cut scenes are a bit long and go on for a fair bit. Personally, my biggest gripe is the soundtrack. The quality of it is vey good, but I believe that the soundtrack from the PS1 version of the game is so much better and that it should have been reworked. Hopefully they'll consider it for the third instalment. Well worth every penny!!

What a great game !!!
Superb graphics,
superb stealth-action,
superb story.

Single negative point:
Some players think there are too many moviescenes. I think that's a revolution in console gaming: The playable movie.

Metal Gear Solid 2, Sons of Liberty was the best game for me when I was just getting into PS2 and learning how to play and I think it is one of the best shooting games on PS2 PS1 Xbox or GameCube.

“ Anyone who has played MGS on Playstation will Know...”

written by RR. on 03/06/2003

Anyone who has played MGS on Playstation will Know that this is the greatest game on the Playstation. This game does not follow on in that respect.
Don't get me wrong,it is a supurb game but it just doesn't have what it takes to cut it out in the games market.
Konami has tried extremely hard on creating a movie feel which is great but this could be their downfall. Gameplay is compltely destroyed by being interupted by so many codec calls and drawn out cutscenes. If you play the game for half an hour you'll probably get 10 mins of gameplay!
This said, the game has great interaction between objects and guards. The guards are much more intellegent but you can still have so much fun tormenting them!
If you seriously want this game remember that MGS2 Substance is out now which includes this full game and ton of extras (even Solid Snake skateboarding!)

Even though people are not going to like me for saying this, Metal gear solid 2 sons of liberty was a massive dissapointment. It started of great and just sunk about half way through. The quality of the levels is superb with plenty of veried things to do like disarm bombs. But you can't really get into the game properly because of the really long cut scenes which end up ruining the flow of the whole thing. It seems to me that the developers were to busy trying to stun us visually, that they compleatly forgot that the main reason people play computer games is to have a good time interacting with them not just watching one cutscene after another.

The original Metal Gear Solid was the coolest game i've ever played on Playstation, the storyline and atmosphere had me gripped from start to finish, so MGS2 must be mind blowing. I'm off to buy my copy now!!!

This has got to be absolutely the best damn game on the PS2 console yet. The graphics story-line and characters rock. The creators of MGS have most certainly outdone theirselves on this one.

MGS2 changed my view on what video games are and can be. This game proves that even with violence, blood, and gore, a game can still have a deep and meaningful story that not only benifits from the violence, but blosums from it. This is game is a true work of art that will be looked at as the mark of the second renassience.
<br>P.S. Gamecube Maybe working on some MGS project. It's rumored to either be MGS3 or a remake of MGS1. I hope this'll be enough to teach nintendo what it really takes to make a great game. Were tired of mario and zelda. The times are changing. It's time to move on to bigger and better games.

I agree with you. The "Metal Gear" range has been blessed with another class-leading game. This is a timeless classic and despite it's shortness it will still last a long time. ps. X-box is lame.
