“AVOID AT ALL COSTS”

PLEASE AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COSTS! On 15/9/22 I purchased a car from the Leyland Branch, to 10 days later notice 2 faults on the car, squeaking brakes and a faulty fuel tank reader. I would drive on to the petrol station with 10 miles, and leave with still 10 miles showing after placing £50 in the car. I rang the dealer and told them of the issues. I requested a service car due to being self employed and had to wait 10 days. When taking the car in, I was told they had no cars for me and to find an alternative route home. The car was return and they found no fault with the fuel reader. I then rang at a later date informing the branch these fault were still happening. To then my Filter Light came on and the car would not go faster than 20mph. Due to being self employed I need my car to go to jobs, and this day I lost work and could not get to Manchester via the motorway. I rang the branch explaining the 3rd issue, were I spoke to 3 different managers explaining myself again each time. Which they that on there customer guarantee ‘an efficient and simple experience’- this doesn’t happen. After speaking to a manager i told them I wanted to reject this vehicle as it’s not fit for purpose or as described- failing to meet the Customers Act 2015. I brought the vehicle in to be approached by the head of business. This man is rude, disrespectful and a bully. To top it off this man has 2 other reviews and the page describing how he is rude to younger females- seems like a recurring theme? He is a bully but unfortunately is the site manager. This man told me he makes decisions of rejection and he has the final say- yet the finance is actually via Black Horse. It has now been 33 days and I’m still paying for my vehicle I do not have. I have never been offered a service car, instead I’ve spent hundreds of pounds on buses , taxis to get to and from work- sometimes I finish at 9pm at night. The branch offers no customer service we’re they quote ‘pleasant environments for customers’ and ‘customer service being there core principles’. This does not exist at this branch. The stress, upset I’ve dealt with through this branch is now unbearable and if I can help any person out, it’s please never ever use this branch! I wouldn’t want another person to experience the stress I have had! I want to reject this car and be done with this company as I’m at my wits end. But they keep saying they are doing everything they can but it always seems to be a barrel of excuses. Just stay away. PLEASE READ!

I had a fantastic experience at Arnold Clark Leyland! This was my first time buying from a dealership and I was made to feel so at ease with the two guys I dealt with ! I was took on a lovely test drive, as I didn't know the area one of the men made sure I got a good feel of the car without getting worried of being lost! The staff are so friendly and as id never bought a car on finance before used all the right language to make it easily for my to understand! Will definitely be buying from here again.

“terrible after care!”

Bought a car from arnold clark, very excited about it as had been looking for one for months. BUT the day after collecting it, I noticed a strange noise coming from the rear. I took it back in where I left it for the day. I went to collect it and was told that they had replaced a shock absorber but that it wasnt the cause of the noise! Noise still there I was told to take it away and let the noise "develop"!!!! After a couple of weeks I rang up to telk them I was booking it in again, only to be told that they had already looked at it and couldn't find the fault! Basically to put upwith the noise!!!! Obviously ive taken it back in and after telling me thatthey will take it to a specialist , when I arrived, the services manager said that that would be too expensive! When I telephoned next day, I was told that it was booked into specialist next day........ oh and no courtesy car available for 3 weeks! Call me cynical but I doubt very much that my car has even moved in the last 4 days from where I left it!!! I have been told so many different things every time I call!...... still waiting for some kind of resolution! Services manager has advised it could "take a day, a week a month"!!!! Not good enough!

i got my citroen ds3 from arnold clark leyland and all the staff at arnold clark were great had a scratch on the front of the car and it was put in to the body shop and come out like new and the sales executive was great very happy with the deal he got me 10/10 to all the staff at arnold clark leyland

“pushy, arrogant and lacking in knowledge”

We drove out of our way to visit this dealer, as we had bought a car from them last year and were really impressed. Not any more. We sat down to do the figures before the test drive, as we wanted to be up front that it was financially dependent on a sale. We were told that pcp was nit good for us but the repayments offered were six hundred pounds a month. When we Said no chance, we were asked out right, what made you think you could come here and afford this car in the first place? How rude! Then it went downhill. We need a car to tow. He knew nothing about towing and would not listen to my husband when he explained what was needed. Suggested that we two to the south of France with an illegally matched car and outfit despite us explaining it was nit safe and would invalidate our insurance. He then proceeded to try to sell us anything, even when we Said we did not want it. We went to another dealer, bought the brand new version of the car at a price that was right for us and they helped us with the towing stuff. Do not bother visiting this dealership. The boss and sales rep were on us straight away, as it was a top end car. He had to go to his boss to explain why we were walking away whilst we were there, rubbish. If you tow anything, don't bother buying from them, they will sell you any old car at an extortionate cost.

“I am convinced that all they do is hoover the cars...”

I am convinced that all they do is hoover the cars out, slap a yellow sticker on it and send it on its way only for an unsuspecting customer to have to determine the various faults. I have had my car in 4 times since I bought it 2 months ago and the useless, terse, unhelpful unskilled unprofessional staff still haven't fixed the various problems. I think they'll only be interested in fixing issues once the warranty is up and il have to pay for it.

“Cocky, lack of customer service or accountability!!”

Discussing! Bought a car on the Saturday signed for it on the Tuesday I was due to collect, to receive a call to say the under valued the car and want to change my deal!! I could not afford there offer, instead of an apology for there error I had to beg for my deposit back and compensation for the cost of me cancelling my car insurance! The manager is cocky and lacks people skills, I'm defo off to Evans halshaw , never again please avoid!!!

Absolute joke. Bought car, extended warranty and 2 prepayed services and MOTs. 4 months later and its 1st service after 3000 miles. They charged me 700 for changing timing belt and brakes! Only after 3000 miles! 4000 miles later and at 2nd service it cost another 400 for brake discs and fluid. There was also a problem with the clutch but even though it was covered under warranty they wanted a few hundred pounds to investigate 1st! So much for extended warranty and prepayed services and MOT. Avoid at all costs

The staff at Leyland were very helpful and provided me with a great deal on a Ford Fiesta. I love my new car more than the old one, which i part ex. I want every one to know that if you want great customer service and good deals, visit Arnold Clark in Leyland. You are sure to get a great car at the right price. I had a good experience and the sales team made my family very welcomed and gave everyone a hot chocolate before we sat and negotiated the T&Cs. Never thought i would be so excited over buying a car, the experience was very plesant and i would recomend Arnold Clark in Leyland to everyone who is looking for a new or used car.

“I went to trade in my older car for a 56 plate....”

I went to trade in my older car for a 56 plate. Salesman was pushy tried every trick in the book to make me buy (saying things like, we've only just got this in, had alot of interest, so be quick etc)
He must have thought I was born yesterday!
I did actually buy, because the price was right, my trade in price was right and it was the car i had been looking for for a while (and it was local!)

You MUST check the car thoroughly before you buy because after you drive it off the show court they will wash their hands of you.

Did my research on the Arnold Clark website. Saw the car that I was interested in. Made a phone call Tuesday morning and arranged an appointment for that afternoon. My contact was waiting for me and after a few pleasantries and a welcome cup of coffee we got down to business.
This was conducted in a friendly and professional manner in very pleasant surroundings. As in all of these type of transactions the operative follows a standard pattern. I was in no particular hurry so it wasn't a problem. After all the discussion I was presented with a sheet of paper detailing the amount it would cost me to drive the car away. I immediately dismissed certain extras (extra warranty, Arnold Clark servicing) but kept the gap insurance. I then haggled a little and got a small increase in the valuation of my car - and some mats. I was very happy with this because The 08 Vectra that I was purchasing was very reasonably priced and I got a fair valuation for my car. And the car would be ready the next day!

I did ask for three things - a replacement front silver grille, a good valeting of the engine area and the aforementioned mats.
I am pleased to say that this was all done and my car was waiting for me on the Wednesday, gleaming like a new pin!

My only negative relates to the car that I was selling being given a thorough check-over as the final bits of paperwork were being completed on the Wednesday evening. As we had signed the major paperwork the night before I thought that the sale was done and dusted. I knew that my car was mechanically sound but there is always the worry that something is found that you were unaware of. Fortunately it got the OK!

Apart from that inconvenience, I thought that the whole set-up was very professional.

All in all, I found the experience of buying a car from Arnold Clark, Leyland, to be a rewarding experience in more ways than one!

This Sunday after a lot of research on Arnold Clarks web site I called at the Leyland branch. I have already made my mind up want I wanted, I found the car I was going to buy the sales looked at my part exchange a 57 plate car and I thought a deal would be done and I would have been driving my new car today.
But before he would give a price to change cars they wanted to know a lot of personel information, all I want was the price to swap.
So I had wasted a lot of time in research my time on Sunday.
In future I will continue to buy from Evans Halshaw. I ask how much to swap and we always do a deal on this occassion they did not have the car I wanted so tried Arnold Clark.
I tried to find an e-mail contact on the AC site but could not find one.

After passing my driving test, I initially wanted to buy a second hand car from the autotrader, due to my budget and lack of driving experiance. After viewing about five cars I realised they were all high mileage and in poor condition. To overcome these problems and for peace of mind, I decided to buy something a bit newer and reliable. I had heard of Arnold Clarke (AC) as their show rooms are local to where I live, and my research indicated they offerred competitive finance deals.
On arrival the staff were friendly and pleasent, and the show room seemed very professional. I chose to buy a used 03 Peugeot 206. After having the car for two days I noticed noises from the exhaust, brakes and the roof squeaked, I approached AC immediately regarding this, stating I was unhappy and wanted the car exchanged. At first they said they would repair any problems but I did not want any repairs undertaken, as my point was the car should have not been sold in that condition. They carried out repairs to the exhaust but the problem still remained. AC advised me if I wanted to swap the car I would have to trade the car back in at a considerably reduced price. I threatened them with legal advice and they soon swapped the car for me at no extra expense.
The nightmare continues, I had to drive around all the local AC's in Lancashire to find a car I wanted to swap mine with, eventualy I found a VW Polo 56 Reg. The same problem happened again, the car roof had been spray painted and the edges were still rough (this would have lead to rust in the future I have been told) and the interior smelled of stale milk. I did not expect a car of this age to have such problems and when I originally viewed it, it was dark. After having the car for 24 hours I appraoched AC again. They were rude, unco-operative and unhelpful. They insisted I was the problem and they would not be able to swap it. I then explained I just wanted a brand new car that had not been used so these problems were unlikely to happen, at this point I think they seemed to change their minds. They explained to me I could use the current car as a good will gesture until the new one arrived. After waiting for six weeks for the new car, I returned to the show room angry at the time it was taking, at that point I was told I would have to trade my current car in for the new one, meaning I would be left out of pocket! I am still wating for the new car (been about ten weeks and will be out of pocket) I don't know what to do as AC inisist the new car has been ordered and will be delivered soon.
Like other customers, I wish I had seen these reviews before I entered a contract with AC, they have caused me nothing but misery and heartache in what should have been a happy occasion (first car).
