I Purchased One Of These As A New Item. The First

I purchased one of these as a new item. The first thing I noticed was the maps were at least two years out of date. The A421 Great Barford Bypass opened in August 2006 and is not on the system. There is no way of updating the maps except by purchasing new ones from Sony another £59 plus P&P. The icons on the nice large screen are small and difficult to distinguish especially when driving. There is a very annoying beep which sounds every time you press one of the `keys' which you can not turn off. To navigate using a post code is very difficult, a) you can not enter a street number and b) you have to flick between a letter keyboard (laid out in ABC.. fashion and a number screen to enter the post code itself very time consuming. The large screen looks nice. If you want to use TMC you have to buy a very difficult to get hold of docking station for £59 plus subscription to TMC. Speed camera warnings are available to download, but I could not get mine to issue the desired alert when approaching the camera sites. All in all from a renowned electrical manufacturer this is a very disappointing Sat Nav. I sent it back after just three days.

Sony Are More Than Happy To Sell You A Subscriptio

Sony are more than happy to sell you a subscription for TMC but they dont tell you need to spent a further £50 on a cradle.

I would not buy another sony system ever again. It has never got me to any me to any destination correctly e.g the voice command is telling you to turn right but the on screen map is telling you to turn left.

Over rated and over priced.

When Bought New From Argos, Second It Broke Down,t

When bought new from Argos, second it broke down, took it back to argos after lot of hassle,it was sent for repair, was told it will take 10 working days, had to wait more then 25 days to get it back, after making many, many, many calls direct to Sony UK service centre, because I wasn't getting anywhere with Argos,I had a lot of headache with Sony's service UK,so next time its "GARMIN" for me.

As I have mentioned above I had trouble with my new Sony U82 from day 2, please e careful before you go for Sony, because I have learned my lesson the hard way.

Your review gives 9/10 overall but you seemed very unhappy with the Sat Nav. Were there some features that brought the overall score up or was this a mistake?
