I wanted a portable car sat nav for some European travel but during these hard pressed times, I didn't want to spend a fortune.
Initially based upon personal recommendation I looked at buying a Garmin or a TomTom but even at sale prices I was looking at £100+ or so. I then came across the brand Navman which overall seemed to carry enough favourable reviews across their range. I found a brand new Navman F10 on eBay for £59 + delivery which arrived the next day. I believe this unit was originally priced when a new model around the £150 mark about three years ago?
I wasn't 100% sure what to expect for the money but was immediately impressed with the clean and slim design of the unit and overall quality feel, which extends to the windscreen mounted holder which also feels solid and durable. The in car charger though is not quite up to the same standards. It is made of cheap shiny plastic, and I find that I have to move the charger around inside the cigar lighter socket to get a decent connection and get the little green light on top of it to come on and stay on, so the unit stays charged up. I also find the battery life away from the charger quite short.
I found the software very easy to setup and configure out of the box, and to date I have only referred the instructions a couple of times as I found the multi trip feature oddly quirky, until I had allowed trips to not ignore ferries. This unit also warns of speed cameras and tolls and can be configured to alert you if you go above a speed which you select. Points of interest including tourist attractions, petrol stations and cash machines are all available. What more do you need?
Compared to a built in Toyota system I had previous experience of using and various Tom Tom units friends have got, the location and positioning was quick to pick up which is good. However when navigating at street level it is a few houses out which isn't a big problem as such but rivals do this a bit better. For example when you arrive home it is odd to be told you have parked in driveway four doors up. But a useful feature is postcode, street and house number display.
In summary I would say apart from the street level accuracy and the in car charger, for the money this unit is hard to fault. I also understand that this unit can be reconfigured to use TomTom software if that is your thing, but to be honest I would bother as my view the Navman F10 works fine as it is. Recommended.

The Navman F10 is good and easy to use. Has the ability to check target area before entering location, map scroll so you can see whats around you.

The Navman F10 looks nice. Navigation ok when your in the town. On a trip from a to b it kept telling me to turn right at every junction. Can't even get my own post code tells me it is not valid.

This Navman F10 was my first Satnav, easy to use and set up. I think it great, no more getting lost. May be basic but I don't need any more than finding the way and giving me speed camera sights, what else would you need?

I only ever managed to use my Navman F10 once, then it kept freezing, then would not start up at all. So completely useless and sent it back as not fit for purpose. Bought a Tom Tom now.
The slot in the bottom for the screen mount is almost the same as the place you plug the car lead in, not a good piece of design in my opinion, just awkward.

When it works, it's great. Just that most of the time, it doesn't. My Navman F10 is continually crashing or freezing. Very frustrating and makes the unit useless most of the time. Maps are completely out of date (not the Navman's fault). Telling me to take a road that isn't there anymore or telling me I'm not on a road when it's a main sealed road.

All round excellent Sat Nav (also have a Garmin) but a real nuisance flapping around in the car if I need to re-charge (which I always do!).

Would highly recommend the Navman F10. Very easy to set up. Gives very accurate directions in plenty of time for you to take up the correct lane or position. For me that is key to a good unit. Late instructions in heavy traffic makes your journey unbearable.

The Navman F10 is perfect for those who want a simple sat nav. If you are used to using the old book street directory, than this will be an amazing unit for you. It is only basic, so if you are after bluetooth, camera, etc, look for another unit. If you want to get from A to B, then this is for you.

The Navman F10 is a good piece of equipment, like any unit you get used to how to search, if you cant find the post code you can always get the street. touch screen and sound is very good I got it for about £115. I also have the Garmin i3 which if you want postcode only is better than the F10 as I use it for work job to job basis, mostly postcodes.

I bought the Navman F10 as my first sat nav for just general driving. It cost me less than £100 which is good for a sat nav by a decent brand like Navman.
The problem is that accessories for my sat nav are difficult to find. I think Navman focus on the S series a bit more now, which is a shame because they could corner the market with the F10 if they tried.
