I thought this year's tattoo was very disappointing. It was very dull and I was very bored. I thought only two acts were worthy of a place but in all I thought it was very basic. We actually had good weather and stayed very dry but not enough to tempt me back.

I went to the final performance of this year's Tattoo, and it was my 4th visit. I've sat absolutely spellbound in pouring rain in the past, so I can't blame the weather for my lack of enjoyment.
I'm wondering if it's the lack of military personnel that is causing the gradual run down of this once great event.
All in all it will be some time before I venture north to watch it again. I'll probably stick to the televised even, It's a smaller commitment.

I have never been so uncomfortable during a seated performance. The seating is very narrow (I'm an average sized person) Your knees hit the person in front and the person behind has their knees in your back. You are squashed from either side. I've waited years to see the Tattoo live, but it was a wasted journey. The performances this year were very average. No wow factor at all. The torrential rain didn't help. Performers did the best they could considering the conditions. I thought the whole thing was very amateurish, but then again maybe I've been spoiled watching the Chinese Olympics - probably the greatest show on earth. I'll watch the Tattoo again, but only on the TV.

My first Tattoo and to be honest probably my last. The bands and artists at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo put on a good show despite the awful weather (there were a couple more suited to a local Highland Games or Country Fair not the Edinburgh Tattoo?). My main gripe though was not with the show or the weather but the way we were packed in so tight that at one point I thought I would have to leave as I was in so much discomfort. 2.5hrs and not being able to move is no fun, I even had to ask the person sitting next to me to move so I could take a hankerchief from my pocket!

Having never been to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo before I have nothing to compare it to, but me and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the Tattoo this year - apart from the weather as it rained non stop!! But the atmosphere was great and bands were brilliant. I know people are saying it wasn't as good as previous years but we still loved and will definitely be going back again!

Edinburgh castle itself was the star. Poor show compared to shows in previous years....what a disappointment. Somebody needs to review shows of previous years and get this star attraction back to where it belongs.

Well organised. 2008 lacked variety, too much of a sameness. Toilets inadaquate and dirty. Very disappointed in the lack of variety this year, too much of a sameness. became boring.

Very disappointed in the lack of variety, no more than a marching band display. Total lack of adventure. The audience responded with only polite applause.

Always thought the tattoo was way over-hyped, even though I enjoyed it previously, twice. Edinburgh Tattoo 2008 is very disappointing...no ambition - a couple of wow factors, no more.

Spectacular venue and views, good value night out-especially for tourists. The 2008 Edinburgh, Military Tattoo show isn't as varied as it could have been. Worth a look
