“My Waterside DX500 water softener is great! Twin tank...”

★★★★★

written by gfinlayson on 06/09/2008

My Waterside DX500 water softener is great! Twin tank means softened water always available, even during regeneration. Unbelievably easy to set up - simply set the water hardness on the dial after installation and you're done. Robust construction and standard industry proven controller parts give good reliability. Flawless performance - my unit has been in service for 8 years without so much as a hiccup, and has delivered consistently softened water. Other than having to add a bag of salt every few months, you forget it's there. Relatively compact dimensions mean it's easy to tuck out of the way.

Writing this review some 10 years after installing my DX500, I can do so with some experience behind me! Unlikely my previous model, the DX500 has the important advantages of having:
1) Metered water so that it only regenerates when it needs to (against a hardness setting that is programmed just once upon initial installation). This reduces salt consumption. There is no need to change regeneration settings if you go on holiday or if the entire family come to stay over Christmas!
2). Twin tanks. As one regenerates, water is switched to the other tank so that you are never without soft water.
The unit has been totally reliable and trouble free with the only running costs being salt and minimal electricity. Remember to have a separate hard water tap supply for drinking and cooking and some dish washers also prefer a hard water supply.

My machine will only start when I use the manual dial. Noise that it is working is evident but this only lasts about 15 minutes. Any help would be appreciated?

I need to get an engineer to come and look at my DX500. I have had to turn it off as it just kept filling and so overflowing. Any ideas who I should contact?
