Waste Of Money!!!!!

Waste of Money!!!!! Don't buy it! I was mugged by knife point in Central America, bag with Phone, Camera, lenses and 100 USA dollar cash stolen. In total well over £2000 worth of goods stolen. I had a police report, receipts of every item, etc, etc. In total I got £150 back. That's their limit per item for the camera. Excuses for everything else. They don't cover mobile phones and I didn't have enough money stolen evidently to get be covered for the cash. So I was robbed of everything what I had, on 20/04/2014 and yesterday I got £150 total. When I go to complain it's like a circus. I get referred to other third party insurers who then refer me back to 247. So no one will take any responsibility. What's the point of paying so much money for this. What a poor decision to use these guys. Very glad I did not have any serious medical bills as a result.

Avoid At All Costs

247 Travel insurance is a waste of money - avoid at all costs. I wanted to give less stars, but one is the minimum. I have always bought travel insurance in over 20 years of travelling but never needed it. Well this time. I went with 247 Travel Insurance as the costs seemed OK. So when I got mugged abroad and lost my mobile phone, I was at least confident of being covered. After spending a day with the less-than-helpful local police I got the necessary forms and reports and submitted a report to 247. But they rejected it and said I was not covered as:

1) a mobile phone is not covered as part of my goods and valuables

2) a mugging only counts if I am hospitalised and even then the costs only cover medical bills.

So I was mugged with violence and lost my phone but am not covered as I wasnt seriously enough injured for them to count it as a mugging (is this encouraging victims to put up more of a fight and incur more injuries) and also my phone (costing over £400) is not considered as a valuable.

If you are not covered for a violent mugging and robbery - what on earth are you covered for and what is the point of the insurance. Avoid at all costs. They will find ways to weasle out of ever paying out.

Waste Of Money - They Find A Way Not To Pay

I suggest you use another insurer. 24/7 take your money but when it comes to making a claim do everything to avoid the policy. For example, they insist on a police report even if you goods are stolen in South America underr gun point by the police. They refuse to accept that in such circumstances it is not possible to get a report. I would strongly recommend that you go with another insurer.

I will collate other tales of woe - I'm sure there are many people out there.

Wasnt Worth The Paper It Was Printed On!

got the backpacker insurance for travelling around southeast asia and had our passports etc stollen while on a beach - this insurance doesnt cover theft on a beach, or a lido, or actually any theft where your valuables are not on your person I.E unless you are mugged good luck making a claim.. this cost us £200 each for tempory passports and exit visas out of cambodia, £80 for a new passport back home, £100 each for flights out of cambodia because if we took the bus we would miss our bangkok flight home, as well as this we had our phones, cameras, money, drivign lisences, everythign in our bags which were stollen (btw, we are not stupid having our stuff with us, we couldnt leave it at our hostel because the owner was dodgy and stuff kept missing from peoples rooms, surprisingly they asked where on the beach we would be, knowing we had our stuff on us, set up? probally, if your going cambodia be careful) AND not only this, but we couldnt even get hold of 24/7 gap, there are about 10 different numbers in the insurance policy, NONE OF THESE WORKED, not even when we tried to get friends and family to ring at home, we and our families sent various emails as you have to contact them within 24hours else you CANNOT make a claim, EVEN IF YOU ARE IN HOSPITAL, YOU HAVE 24HOURS TO MAKE A CLAIM, STUPID HUH?!! anddd we got no reply to our emails! this company are a waste of time and space and completely ruiined our travels! what a scam! cannot imagine what would have happened if something more serious had happened while we were travelling! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

I was mugged in South America and also even that was not covered. My claim was rejected as they only cover muggings that involve hospitilisdation and even then they only cover minimum hospital costs and did not cover the cost of the item stolen (3G mobile phone). I had to buy myself a new phone out of my own pocket. And the scrapes and bruises were not covered from the mugging even though it stopped me doing several tours as I was still in pain.

UPHAPPYCHAPPY

My Fiance and I have just got back from travelling and a similar thing happened to us, couldn't believe how much it ended up costing with emergency passports and new visas etc. I have sent a letter of complaint into 24/7 insurance and will also be taking it up with the FSA it's so misleading especially page one of their policy which states travel documents are covered but then in the small print it actually means transport and accommodation incurred in order to obtain travel documents. I agree do not use this company!!

"wasnt worth the paper it was printed on!" — because you didn't read that piece of paper before you bought it

Wouldn't Let Me Give 247 Travel Insurance No Stars

Wouldn't let me give 247 Travel Insurance no stars. I had to return from my trip due to a death in my family. I called for advice, they said I was covered. I received £160 from a £550 flight. Apparently my taxes and fees were not included, nor was my return journey. None of this was mentioned on the phone.

I Found The Website Easy To Use And Got A Quick Qu

I found the website easy to use and got a quick quote without answering loads of questions like you have to on other sites. 24/7 travel insurance seems to be one of the cheapest insurers on the market and they cover a long list of activities which are included in the standard cost (which was ideal for my holiday). My insurance documents were emailed to me immediately and I even got a late bookers discount! I would recommend this company.

Pointless review - try making a claim and then see how (un)helpful they are and then you will realise that those documents you hold in your hand are worth nothing!

This review is irrelevant. An assessment of the worth of travel insurance can only be made by persons who have experience of making a claim.

I found this review not helpful because... i used this company and they were DREADFUL
