Very disappointed to find that although a table had been booked two weeks earlier than our night out, when we arrived the pub was closed. Although they took my telephone number when I booked no one thought it necessary to inform me that the pub was closed. This was a special occasion and friends travelled quite a distance to help us celebrate and we were all thoroughly dissatisfied as we were unable at the last minute to find suitable alternative arrangements, although we eventually found somewhere after driving around for a hour.
I telephoned the next day and a recorded message relayed the normal opening times, but I was unable to speak to anyone. My advice to anyone would be to telephone on the day of your booking to make sure the pub is open.

Fish on fish and chips cut really thin and too much of a tail end. Not much fish on the portion I received.

Have eaten here before and always found it to be very good. Maybe for whatever reason we hit an off night.

If you like pub food, try The Spindle Tree in Wakefield, its great. No frozen rubbish here, great menu on chalk boards and menus for tables with chefs specials.

The Spindle Tree, Wakefield has a great building and parking, great welcome, great service, and lovely food at a very reasonable price. I had a great time. I cannot rate this place highly enough. Apparently it has been owned by the same family for over 6 years, and I am told they are very very consistent.
