“I currently own the RX-V550 which is the predecessor...”

I currently own the RX-V550 which is the predecessor to this model. Have to say that for an intermediate range reveiver it is pretty rock solid and a bargain for the price compared with other brands such as Onkyo and H/K at the same range.

It would be great to have some HDMI input/outputs but they are now available on new models.
