TimeI would like the complaint to be continued and i would like to appeal your decision. The payment due date was the 26th Feb. So in layman's terms i have until at least the close of office hours to pay the instalment. Which i tried to do. So the payment would not be missed. Your terms say "the payment could be taken between 0600 and 0800 on the due day, but may on occasion be taken later that day" Ok so what your saying is, its ok for MCE to take the payment at any time on the due date when it suits them. But its not ok for the customer to pay at any time on the due date. And every other company who i have had dealings with. If the first payment is declined. They will then attempt to take the payment later on that day. Due to the fact some people may not get paid until noon etc. But MCE dont do that do they. You are happy to re apply for the payment on another day once the £30 admin charge has been applied. So it proves you have the ability to re apply for the payment. In my opinion the whole thing stinks. Its not about the £30 admin fee. Its about the fact its designed to trick and catch out your customers. My wages were in my bank at 0900 that day. I offered to pay the monthly instalment on the due day. But MCE refused to accept the payment without adding the £30 admin fee. I will make it my goal to leave as many reviews on as many review sites. Highlighting this scheme MCE are running so that other potential customers are fully aware of this before they sign up with MCE It just highlights the poor customer service and shows that MCE see customers as cash cows to try and screw as much money as they can out of. At the end of the day the payment date was 26th Feb. I offered to pay the instalment on the 26th Feb. MCE would not take the payment unless i paid the admin fee. Your terms in basic English say it is ok for MCE to decide what time they take the payment, but the customer has no choice" Like it or lump it the computer says NO as the old saying goes and screw the customer. Iam just grateful and pray to God i never ever have the misfortune to have to make a claim on my insurance. Because i didnt dot the (i)in my name, would probably invalidate the insurance.

Not only do they make life very difficult when your bike is stolen. They told the ombudsman that I did not have a problem reporting the theft to them as their phones were down due to a systems upgrade which they then passed on as informing all on the website. I had to prove that and luckily I had a copy of a conversation with their helpdesk that admitted there were problems. No claims could be made to them even though they continued to write new policies in this period. All I can say is avoid these people at all costs.

People I have put many honest negative reviews based on my experience with MCE on this site, they are being removed, as will yours and be replaced by a fake good review from MCE themselves. Bottom line is dont use this company, they will get you on board, then they will take your money and fleece you good style. You will not see any of your money back when things go wrong, and they will!! the first time you have to try and talk to their call centre staff. Please be warned. Go to another company, MCE are disgusting.

I had the misfortune of using MCE last year.... They always show up cheapest on price comparison websites but there is so much negative stuff online about them that that I'm amazed they are still allowed to trade. I rang them asking about fees for change of address on my sons insurance (which i pay for) because he was thinking about living with his mother in the new year (this was Sept) MCE told me he would have to ring when he moved so i left it... A month later my son got a letter saying his insurance had been cancelled because he didn't tell them me had moved ( he hadn't) they refunded £190 out of £875 policy that had run for just 2 months claiming their T&C's say they can keep 80% of cancelled policies. He explained he hadn't moved and asked the policy be reinstated... they said this was impossible and he would need to pay again for a new policy even though it was their fault. We did get a full refund in the end after reporting to the ombudsman and making a fuss on social media but apparently they do this a lot as well as bait and switch where they'll contact you saying there is an error in the info provided and you have to pay X amount more making the policy more expensive than competitors who you didn't choose.. Another thing is texting/emailing you asking you to ring them, but it's a premium rate number and people have reported £50 bills for the call MCE need shutting down

Could not believe the that i made 2 short phone calls to MCE and £5 phone charge had gone in a few minutes. What rate do they charge?? Certainly will not be ringing them again! Only rang to confirm a quote i got on line with 200xs make sure all was ok. Got cut off so had to ring back to be told rate had gone up to 575xs Wasnt happy at all as price was still the same but xs dearer.

I have been a customer of this company for several years, not had a problem - until I made a claim. This year my policy cost tripled - because I work in 2 shops 3 miles apart I am required to have business cover for commuting for both my motorbikes. So, I'm away at work. An old dear manages to reverse into my other bike - on a private car park outside my home. Knocks it over. Once insurance details are passed on, I contact MCE. Their IT crashes during the call. I'm promised a callback, doesn't happen. Contact them 3 times via their web mail service asking for the email address to send pics of the damage & other matters. No reply. In the meantime, the other parties company contact me asking if I want them to handle my claim. Am beginning to think this might be a better option - at least they could be bothered to get in touch with me!

Where is my money you owe me please? Your customer wrote my car off, myself or my insurance company cannot get the money off you, my car cannot be released from the salvage yard, stopping even further payment.

Still waiting for them to process a claim after 8 months. Spent hours waiting on the phone, sent them all the documents (many times over). Ignored 2 recorded delivery letters. Will now have to refere to FCA for resolution. Cannot understand positive reviews when they have treated me like this.

Tottaly disgusted after passing my test yesterday I thought I would ring up to adjust my licence status with MCE to keep all my info correct & got told I had to pay £40 or my policy would be cancelled within 7 days!!!!! All someone had to do is adjust one thing on their screen what two or three clicks of their mouse at most!!!! NOW SEROUSLY THINKING ABOUT NOT RENEWING MY POLICY WITH MCE IN JULY!! I have contacted other insurance companies & all the others that I have spoken to do not charge for changing licence status. I would except the charge if I had changed the bike for a higher cc but staying with the same bike I feel it is not fair or justified

I had been with MCE for years. I recently had my bike stolen, and upon "notification" not "CLAIM" my premium went from £280 for the year to over £1700. when asked they said that it had taken away my no claims bonus. which should not have been affected because I never "CLAIMED". Went with Bennet's and they quoted £348 for the year with a stolen/recovered notification. MCE may claim to be the best but i urge you to keep an eye on what your asking of them when amending a policy or renewing

I decided to change my bike for a newer one and the day before I was to pick up my new(secondhand) machine I rang the customer service line to notify the change of bike on my bike insurance policy. The call took about 20 minutes and the end result was that on a policy that cost £100 for twelve months back in Feb. of this year they wanted an extra £91 just to change the bike. Whilst the new bike was newer it was a lower performance one and should have been about the same to insure. They wanted £50 additional for the policy and £41 admin fee just to insure the replacement bike for the 5 months left on the policy. Having, prior to this, found a price on comparison sites of £124 for a year I was not inclined to pay £91 for 5 months so I told them that I would take out a new policy for twelve months elsewhere. I was then informed that despite having 5 months to run on the policy there would be no refund. I subsequently cancelled and went elsewhere. Whilst they are on the face of it competitive and value for money when it comes to help after that forget it.

Took 3 months to pay up in spite of sending them everything they asked for, so why no credit for that period in which they carried no risk? Helmet, gloves and wet weather gear in the back box when the bike was stolen but such items are only covered in the event of an accident, not the theft of the bike, they say. Doesn't say anything about that on the schedule but 'it's in the booklet' No it isn't. Reduced payout by 5% because no service history. I sent copies of services in each of the 3 years I owned the bike but they want history from when the bike was new, not from when I bought it. Again 'in the booklet', but no it isn't.

Having purchased MCE Insurance due to being one of the largest and well respected companies, I felt I'd made a good choice. Roll forward a few months and my bike took a fall off the stand breaking a mirror and scratching a few panels. Enough damage to warrant a claim. The initial call was smooth enough suggesting a few photos should be enough to get an idea of the repair cost. A few of days later with no request for photos, the bike was collected and transported 100 miles away to be assessed. A week later the bike was assessed as borderline repair/ total loss. It was then transported a further 250 miles away to the repair centre. Two weeks later still not having heard anything, it turned out the repair centre had done absolutely nothing and we still didn't know if the bike was to be written off or repaired. After four weeks of wasted time, and having to cancel my advanced rider exam with no bike, and having missed weeks of what is in this country a very short summer, I have been forced to request the bike be returned and the claim cancelled. The only way I can be sure of riding what's left of the summer is doing it myself - something I could have done within two days at the start of this fiasco. We buy insurance for the simple reason we want to enjoy the things we have if something should go wrong. It's the headline statement on the MCE website - they sort it FAST - absolutely not the case. This has been a terrible example of how they have handled one of the simplest claims possible.

BEWARE OF COMPULSORY EXCESS WHEN PURCHASING ONLINE Not happy with MCE, watch out for their compulsory excess as I did not realise that they had set mine to £1050 with a voluntary £250, total £1300 which is the same value as my bike so hardly any point having comprehensive insurance. If it got stolen they would of paid out £100 only. It was not obvious that it was so high, I only noticed after paying my first payment and receiving documents, when I phoned them they admitted thats what they do so they make it to the top of the comparison websites. They changed my policy to third party f&t so that my total excess was only £250 and that was £30 more expensive than fully comp. To lower the excess to £250 with fully comp doubled the quote. After checking other companies for third party cover many where over £100 cheaper so I canceled my policy as I was still in cooling period and they will only refund me £8 of my first payment. So £72 for a weeks insurance...daylight robbery.

I moved into a new apartment without an indoor parking in May 2016 and I asked for an extension of my insurance - to cover for theft. I asked explicitly over the phone whether I will be covered as of that day and MCE confirmed that. Within 48 hours my motorcycle got stolen, police had footage of the thieves from 3 CCTV cameras, the thieves were arrested, the motorcycle recovered - non repairable - and MCE started making all sorts of claims, not to pay. First claim was that I was not insured because the starting date was one day after my motorcycle got stolen. I rejected that and asked for the recorded phone call which they did not provide and after I was chasing them for some time they admitted I was right. Then MCE said I should undergo investigation since the motorcycle was stolen suspiciously close to the day I extended my insurance (reminder the thieves were in police custody). I underwent a 2 hours interrogation at home by Examworks, the company that MCE outsources all the investigations to. They then delayed the payment as they were claiming they were waiting for the police report that got stolen and although I provided them even the names of the police officers that had the CCTV and the officer that was calling me to inform me of the status of the trial of the thief, it was not enough. I waited for around 8 months until I said I will contact a lawyer. Nothing happened they ignored me. At around 10-11 months (I had already lost hope) i contacted them again and they told me that i am not covered since i was insured the day after my motorcycle was stolen. I told them to go again through the recorded phone calls. I followed the normal process of filing an official complaint with the aim of contacting the ombudsman as a second step. That is when they finally started doing some work and I received my money after almost one year a more than 20-30 phone calls (endless hours of waiting to speak to someone), numerous emails, document gathering, interrogation at home etc etc... Good luck if you are insured with MCE...

Very good premium - good sign up process - but the best of luck if you need to make a claim. Basically they are like RyanAir but worse. My bike got stolen - value approx £3900.00 - ended up they paid me £841.00. They chipped me down with a low valuation - then hit me for 13 different deductions. And their customer service is powerless to assist or make any changes. This is why the guy who owns this company drives around in a £500k Bentley.

I have been with MCE for many years. The renewal for the year was £289. The previous year it was £221. I asked why it had gone up so much and was told it was due to the tax. I sighed and accepted the amount. Immediately afterwards and out of curiosity I used one the comparison sites. The AA were charging £83 for the same insurance but better excess! Not only that, MCE were showing as £119 with legal aid and breakdown recovery! I immediately called back and said I wanted to cancel and explained why but was told someone would call me back to see if they can match it. What, you mean match your own quote?! No one called back, so I called back later that evening to cancel but was told again someone were call me back the next day. No one did so I called back yet again (the insurance had now come into effect) and they put me on hold for quite a while and said they will charge me £32 for the cancellation. They were no longer interested in retaining me as a long serving customer – not even giving me the price they’re offering on the comparison site! I tried to quibble the £32 charge but said they would’ve normally charged me £60 as the insurance was now active (even though I had phoned before then to cancel) therefore making it look as if they were doing me a favour! I would have (and still could) gone for their offer on the comparison but (normally I really wouldn’t use this tone at all but I’m so disgusted) they can go screw themselves. Obviously, loyalty means absolutely nothing and neither does customer service. Their attitude absolutely stinks and I’m still in shock. I’m off to fine tune the comparison quotes and if MCE come up as the best option, I will take the next one. MCE, you really are the pits and extremely disappointed with the way you have treated me. Goodbye.

In a non fault claim that would be normal practice and you would need extended use class 1 insurance as you have 2 workplaces.
This is the same in any insurance business.
