What a great idea, instant boiling water, a real time saver. I've had this product for years now and I use it every morning to make a cup of tea for me and my wife. It's important to note that we both drink herbal teas and the Quick Cup provides water at the perfect temperature so no need to wait for it to cool. Transversely, when regular tea and coffee drinkers visit, they comment that their beverage is inadequately heated as the addition of milk means that the water isn't quite hot enough. So on that not, this isn't great for people who favor milked beverages. It's also worth noting that if your serving 4 or more drinks, the Quick Cup becomes more time consuming than just putting the kettle on!

I was given one of these older machines by a friend. Certainly cheaper to run than a kettle. I have overcome the 'lack of' softener cartridges, we use a Water Jug with it's own cartridge and I removed the cartridge from the Tefal. It seems to work very well. As some say, it's a bit splashy with dispensing water, but apart from that very good. I must find the instructions, as I didn't know about the descale function.

A great little product, my only concern was the cost of filters but we then found them at a reasonable price on the internet, be careful some sellers are asking £10+ for each filter we found them here at the right price

I would say this is well worth the money and just hoe it lasts

We were bought this as a Christmas present Dec 2008, by my father-in-law and it still works great. So does his and my sister-in-laws, which he bought at the same time. Ours is used to make on average 6 hot drinks a day, and occasionally for hot water for cooking. We live in a hard water area, but have not bothered buying the filters as quite expensive. We have run vinegar through it about every 3 months using the cold water button.
It doesn't dispense boiling water, but hot enough for a drink for us, and our friends think it's great.

we have one at work it's used every day 8-9 times making upto 4 cup at a time water is hot and it's fast best thing we've ever had.

great for a quick cup but it does seem to leave a scummy layer on top of the cup.

not happy only with the water dripping after every use as someone else alread said, apart from that the Tefal Quick Cup is..brilliant!

Bought this Tefal Quick Cup from Argos to replace our kettle. The idea is to save energy by only heating the exact amount of water required for a cup. We only use it for hot drinks. It is great because of its ease of use and the filter with gets rid of the scum on the surface of a cup of tea/coffee. Granted it is on the noisy side, but then what do you expect for £30????
We have had no problems with it at all. A great product

Tefal Quick Cup is a good little device, very useful for the growing number of homeworkers.
Some users complain that the water's too cool for tea making - I've never had a problem - and I like the way you can drink the tea immediately. I have to be careful when drinking tea at friends' houses to give it enough time to cool !!
Coffee is good too, although putting the right amount of milk in can make it a little too cool to drink.
I think I measured my water temp at about 90 degrees.

Hot water in 3 seconds, need I say more! Water is hot, not boiling, can be more noisy than a standard electric kettle. Tefal Quick Cup is easy to use, very simple to set up, no fuss, no mess.

Tefal Quick Cup is quick and easy to use. Instant hot water! Ideal for Cuppa Soups. The water has a 'taste' .... like water that has been heated in a Microwave. Looking at the vibrations in the water tank, I am assuming that this is part of that technology? A good buy, I think. But the water taste is making me wonder if it is as good as it seems!

I love my Tefal Quick Cup. I've read back many of the comments here and have to tell you all that you can't have followed the instructions and cleaned the system out with white vinegar every month as instructed. This means limescale builds up inside the thin heating coils and they can't heat the water properly
I've been doing that and have no problems at all.

As mentioned before, be sure to get the updated nozzle for your Tefal Quick Cup to stop spluttering.
You must turn it off at the wall straight after you have finished with it.
Change the filter when recommended.
Descale using vinegar when recommended.
If you take care of the product it will perform well. If you set and forget, then you will run into issues as describe through out this forum.
And yes, Tefal need to refine this product : updated nozzle supplied already, manual stating correct water level and the fact it is noisy in the manual. Making it quiter and maybe a little hotter. But all new ideas take awhile to perfect.

I have used the Tefal Quick Cup for more than a year and would absolutely hate to have to return to using an "old-fashioned" ordinary kettle. Water is filtered. More economical on electricity than an ordinary kettle.
One day, ALL "kettles" will be like the Quick Cup.

bought this Tefal Quick Cup approx 18 months ago after using a friends one. I think it's great. Never had a problem with the water temperature, no it's not boling, but my tea is always hot. Bought one for my grandparents recently that didn't heat properly, Argos changed it and they haven't had a problem with it since, and it also makes life much easier for them as they find kettles to heavy to lift.

Got one 4 weeks ago. It was fine for a couple of weeks, then as others have said, water was gettting progressively cooler with virtually every use, to the point where it was not even luke warm. Drained and unplugged it ready to take back when I thought I would give it a final try, and it was fine ! We now keep it switched off when not in use and it works great.

Bought the Tefal Quick Cup for my 81 year old mother £49.99 with free brita water jug from comet, tried out ourselves for two weeks, so impressed we got one for mother inlaw as well.
Be sure you purchase the one with updated spout, as early models tend to splash when filling cup.

Overall I would recommend the Tefal quick cup. No more waiting for kettle to boil, one appliance for hot and cold filtered water, saving on electricity not re-boiling water, I feel these points outweigh the bad point.
written by WGrounds on 19/08/2008
I have read lots of reviews where consumers have complained that the Tefal Quick Cup does not boil the water. As far as I know Tefal do not claim that it boils the water its clearly states that it heats the water to the optimum temperature to make hot drinks - and it does exactly that.
I find that I can drink my coffee within about 5 minutes of making it which is perfect for me as when I make one using a regular kettle I have to leave it to cool but by then I have forgotten I've made it and its cold.
Don't let negative reviews of this product put you off buying it, although I have only had it for two weeks, as yet I have had no problems with it and would not want to be without it.

If the blue light comes, it needs de-scaling....
To reset, simply hold both top buttons down until the blue light goes out!
Simples!

Thanks.
I haven't seen any blue light yet !
When I do, I hope I will have remembered your tip.
Is there any way to stop the water splashing about when filling the cup?
I've tried cleaning the spout filter thing but sometimes it splashes out the cup.
Thank you.

Here is the correct way to descale:
Descaling your appliance
In order to optimise the lifetime of your appliance, we recommend that you descale it at least every 2 months.
Descaling should be carried out more frequently if you live in a very hard water area.
Certain models also have an indicator light K, which indicates when descaling is necessary. When this
indicator K is on during use, it is time to descale the appliance.
To descale:
1 Remove the Claris filter cartridge fig 6.
2 Place a container of at least 1.5 litres under the nozzle.
3 Empty the tank A, if it is still full of water, then reposition it on its base fig 2.
4 Pour 1 litre of commercially available white vinegar at 8° into the tank.
5 Press the hot water button H and the ambient water button G simultaneously for at least 5 seconds fig 7.
You have the possibility of launching a descaling cycle even if the indicator light K is not on. To do this, press
the hot water button H and the ambient water button G simultaneously for at least 10 seconds
6 The descaling cycle thus runs automatically for approximately 10 minutes.
The indicator turns off at the end of the cycle.
7 When the cycle has come to an end, empty the container and refill the water tank to a maximum.
Relaunch a new operation for rinsing the appliance by holding down one of the buttons fig 3 and fig 10.
8 Once this last cycle has finished, reposition the Claris cartridge; your appliance is ready for use once more
As regards splashing:
Its the nature of these machines, just try and raise the cup on block of wood, when ur filling it to prevent splashing.................
