A Great Camp Site Very Well Run, Really Sorry To S
A great camp site very well run, really sorry to see Sandra and Colin our favourite wardens leave, wishing them lots of luck for the future, they certainly made our stay very enjoyable. Could not find wardens more cheerful and helpful, sure whatever they do in the future they will be very successful.
Campsite is easy access to Edinburgh, number 26 bus from the bottom of the hill takes you there without the hastle of car parks.
We Spent 6 Days On Musselburgh Drum Mhor Camping F
We spent 6 days on Musselburgh Drum Mhor Camping from mid August. It is well run and very clean and adequate facilities. There was no noise at night. It is about 1.5 miles to Musselburgh and there is a bus stop that takes you to Edinburgh about 5 min walk from the Park. There is also a park and ride stop for Edinburgh about 5 min. drive from the Park. A day ticket on the bus costs £3 which gives you travel throughout the city to various attractions as well as fare to city. So much cheaper and easier than parking charges and no hassle.
I found this review very helpful because..i am planning a visit to edinburgh soon.
The Location Of Musselburgh Drum Mhor Camping Is S
The location of Musselburgh Drum Mhor Camping is superb and very central to Edinburgh. The staff make you feel like you are the only holiday maker there. Overall attention to detail. The owners are so helpful and only ever seem to be smiling and offering help. Bad points, None!
Friends And I Decided To Visit This Lovely Park Ag
Friends and I decided to visit this lovely park again. This time we booked into a three bedroom lodge [with hot tub], and the difference was amazing! The hot tub has just recently been added and what a bonus! This one however is outside, unlike the inside hot tub along in the two bedroom lodge. It is sunk into the decking with good privacy and the fence helps to act as a windbreaker. [Very handy in this part of Scotland].
On arrival we were greeted by the friendly owners who again showed us to our lodge and gave us a guided tour inside and out. We really cannot fault the customer service. The lodge itself was fantastic. Spotlessly clean and roomy. The kitchen has all mod cons including a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave. There is a large dining table with seating for 6. A three seater, two seater and a chair in the living area, along with a coffee table, lovely feature fire place, tv with a dvd set. The double bedroom has en-suite with shower and plenty of hanging and drawer space. Two twin rooms share a main bathroom, with bedroom two being bigger with more wardrobe space. Beds are comfy and I slept like a log. [zzzzzzzzzzz]. The decor throughout is bright, clean and airy.
Outside is accessed through either the main door or a set of french doors situated in the living area. A plastic patio table and plenty of chairs are situated on the large decking area. The hot tub can seat six comfortably. Three jet settings with lights. [BLISS}. Someone came every day to check/clean the hot tub.
We stayed for three nights and could easily have stayed longer. This cost us £270 between 6 of us.[ in November]. Prices will obviously fluctuate throughout the seasons. Electric is included in this price. Bed linen is also supplied, but take your own towels. Packing a couple of dish towels would also be handy, as none are supplied.
We had a great time and intend to go back very soon.
P.S...............No cobwebs at this lodge..........outside was just as immaculate as inside. [whew].
Just Back From 3 Nights At Drum Mhor Camping And C
Just back from 3 nights at Drum Mhor Camping and Caravan park which is situated at Levenhall, Musselburgh. It is situated in what used to be the gardens of a monastery. Roughly a 20 minute drive into the centre of Edinburgh. There is a 24 hour bus service into Princes Street. The bus stop is situated just outside the park, although the walk to and from it woud be very dark and long at night. A torch would be advisable. A three night stay in a two bedroom lodge [with a hot tub]. is priced at £280 in September.
Entry time into the lodge is 4 pm [although we phoned them to advise them we would be arriving later and this was not a problem]. On the day of departure you must vacate by 10 am. Friendly owners who showed us down to our lodge and gave us a guided tour of how to work all appliances. The two bedroom lodge has a large open plan living area attached to the kitchen. We had a sofa, two easy chairs, table, tv, dvd player, kitchen table with four chairs, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle and all crockery was included. You must supply your own towels and this also includes dish towels. The bedrooms consisted of one with a double bed with en-suite shower room and a twin bedroom with en-suite bath with over head shower. All electricity was included in the rental price. Showers were fairly temperamental and were not an enjoyable experience. Filling a bath would also have taken around two days as the water pressure was pretty poor. The decor was fairly average, but clean. Nothing special. The beds were adequate, but the duvets on the single beds were tiny and obviously designed with children in mind. Each bedroom had drawers and a wardrobe. Plenty of heaters throughout the lodge and the place was warm as toast throughout our stay.
Outside there is a decking area with a plastic patio table and four chairs. Attached to our lodge was also a seperate wooden 'hut' with smoked windows, which houses the 6 person hot tub. This is accessible with a key. The hot tub was the saving grace of this lodge. The 'hut' has spotlights, along with two wooden chairs and hooks to hang your robes or towels. The windows open to let in air as it can get fairly steamy when the hot tub is in use. We made full use of the tub!
Now, although there are around 13 lodges comprising of 2 and three bedrooms, our lodge was the ONLY lodge with a hot tub. This is for your own personal use, hence you have the access key.
I cannot comment on the facilities for tourers and tents, but the park has a 5 star rating on its website, so believe they are pretty good. The shop is very well stocked for anything you might need . When you arrive you will be given an access code for the barrier that effectively stops any non-guests from accessing the park. This four digit code will lift the barrier.
Although we enjoyed our stay, the one overwhelming memory we have taken away with us is how many cobwebs there was. Not inside the lodge, but all around it. I walked through a very large one on arrival when going into the front door. [not good when you hate spiders]. I never actually seen any spiders but them boys sure have been busy with their web making. They were EVERYWHERE. All over the access doors, around the patio area, a few big ones inside the hot tub 'hut' . Quite a few wasps buzzing around too. We came to the conclusion that there must have been a nest nearby.
We did enjoy our stay and the lodge was adequate - if not luxurious. The grounds were lovely and beautifully mantained. Easy access into Edinburgh. A hot tub is always a bonus. Just don't hire Arachniphobia as your evening entertainment!!!
