M&S claimed that I could pick up my euros 'today' I paid the £ and drove the 20 miles to the shop in Cardiff. Shop shut. Travelled home, drove back the next day to get the cash. Thanks M&S for your incompetance and causing me to drive 80 miles.I do occasionally shop at M&S, I certainly wont in future, on principle. Staff made aware of the double journey.

I tried to place an order for click and collect travel money last week, at the end of the process I got an error message saying the transaction has not gone through please try again. I tried for a second time and got the same message. I went into M&S Bureau de change in Milton Keynes and was promptly told it's nothing to do with them I need to contact click and collect. I called click and collect whom told me they have no record of any orders and nothing has transacted there end. OK, no problem, a little disgruntled I thought I'd go elsewhere for my travel money. I went to purchase the money elsewhere and was told my card has been declined, odd i think as the money is 100% in my account. I then call my bank whom were extremely helpful, to my utter shock M&S had taken two payments from my account equating to total of £3400! It transpires that whilst an order was never generated by M&S they had still transacted the payments from my account. This money is sitting in an M&S holding account and has been since last Thursday. My bank are unable to raise a dispute due to the monies being in the M&S holding account, a dispute can only be raised once the merchant has completed the transaction (even though the money has been debited from account). I spent 2 hours on the phone to M&S travel Money whom said because there has been no order placed they cannot do anything and I need to wait 3-5 working days for M&S to release my money back to me once the they realise there is no order that matches those transactions. I provided M&S with the date, exact time of said transactions, exact amounts and the authorisation numbers, yet still they are unable to give me my money back! So, to make it clear, they have taken money from me without an order being placed. I'm now incurring charges through my bank because I have had to borrow money to enable me to get my travel money, I have had to take time off work to sort all this out and I'm experience significant financial hardship! Who wouldn't after having that money taken. The money as of today still remains in the M&S holding account and M&S not accepting any responsibility of providing anyway of getting it back. Nice little earner for M&S, keeping peoples money in there holding account earning interest on money that isn't theirs.

After purchasing travel money in a rush, I almost immediately found out that when compared with a competitor, I paid £70 more by going through M&S, which was about 6% of the overall purchase. I phoned the branch within half an hour of making the purchase to see if they would reverse the transaction, but was told they would only do this at the buy-back rate, despite the transaction being so recent. Although I acknowledge I should have researched beforehand, I would never have thought the difference would be so extreme.

Produced my paper driving licence to buy £200 worth of Euros, couldn't believe I was refused as they would only accept picture driving licence. No problem getting them at a bureau accepted without ID under £1000, and a better rate too. Know where I will be going in future.

When you buy currency from M&S you have to provice ID Passport/Driving Licence, is you purchase with a debit card, although they say if you get the money out of an ATM then you dont need ID, How ridiculas is this, the post office dont do thism why are M&S so awkward? I asked and they said it was anti money laundering regs, hogwash, so you can launder money if you use cash, but not if you use a debit card. Hilarious

Excellent service, ordered the currency online and it was delivered the next day as promised even though it was a Saturday. Would definitely use the service again.

Exchange rate is the best we've found every time we've used them to buy dollars for trips to the US. Staff friendly, and always quick to point out that it's better to buy cash with cash. The first time, I went with my debit card, and it was pointed out to me about bank charges and where I could find a free cash machine if I wanted to save on charges (I did!).
We've used this service for buying our spending money for four trips to the US, and will continue to do so as it's hassle free, and the exchange rate has always been the best we've found at the time we need to purchase our money.

Exchange rate was best around at time of buying. Staff were careful to explain that it was best to use cash to save on card advance charges. All together very helpful person on the till. Found the service and the exchange rate first class. Willing to use again. Advised against card use to save on charges so good operator in the store that we used. Good overall experience.

I used the Marks and Spencer Travel Money service for the first time 13th July 2008. The rate I got was slightly lower than xe.com and even the post office, but I accepted it, as I believed that was to cover them for there being no commission charges. I paid by debit card, but found out a few days later that the transaction went through my bank with a charge. M&S must know that banks charge but never thought to tell anyone. I found it really irritating as the store I used had an ATM, and if I'd known I would have paid in cash to avoid any charges.

Marks and Spencer Travel money was easy, quick, very helpful staff, weren't pushy trying to sell other products such as travel insurance. Had best rate around the day I went. This was first time id used them but will definately do so again.

Banks in Florida would not cash Visa traveller cheques although small shops did! These banks would only cash American Express TCs if we had an account with them. Obviously we didn't. On our return I contacted M&S to advise them of this. They stated that they only sold American Express. Today I have come across the actual documentation from M&S - definitely Visa!! Maybe they now sell AE but beware. If visiting America always make sure you take American Express TCs

When I was going on holiday I was able to check the M&S site to find the best price for dollars. I was so impressed I even bought my money from them. All the calculators on there website were very accurate and I was able to work out how much it was going to cost to buy $2000. They also offered the best exchange rate at the time. I really recommend Marks and Spencers Travel Money check out the site www6.marksandspencer.com.
