“Communication lacking ”

★★★☆☆

written by 178Duncan on 08/10/2023

We stayed for the weekend our caravan was platinum, it was grubby and tired. No information to use any of the electrical items no WiFi password had to ring office. The mattress was cheap and very uncomfortable. I emailed office before we left to find out about the swimming was told to buy online, they didn’t mention we got free passes as we were platinum. The activities were very expensive hard going for a family. Shower, towel rail was all very wobbly will probably come off the wall soon.

“September very poor”

★★☆☆☆

written by Urquhart330 on 13/09/2023

Wardens very helpful we were touring pitch not. bad near toilets as requested but although we have been coming for 25 plus years notice definite decline.. weaned in September as we have before most venues were closed except for weekends and market days so no meals even the chip shop closed just Chinese open and that was ordered on line and had to be collected.: so. don't come in September We won't be visiting again lost its charm and not worth the long trip down to Somerset for.would have liked to have been made aware that everything is closed except for W/E. Ould have saved myself the trip.

“Only as there was no 0 star...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 26/08/2014

Well having read a real mixed bag of reviews on here, I thought it was going to be an interesting break. Unfortunately, only the terrible seems to have summarised our experience. Firstly, bear in mind the entertainment pass only allows you access to the one main venue. The funfair you get VERY little discount off, and the swimming pool is still over £4 per person which most other parks offer free. The service we received was pretty poor, and despite some staff being friendly and stating they were only trying to help, they did very little helping. A few keys things we found out the hard way... 1. Although they advertise, quite heavily, that there is late night karaoke from 11pm, if you go down there after 11.30pm you wont be allowed in. We arrived at 11.40pm to be told that although they didnt close until 3am we still would be allowed in - never known a camp-site like it! I should clarify this is not mentioned anywhere other than a small poster INSIDE the venue, which you can't see if you aren't allowed in. 2. There seems to be very little management around to deal with issue. We dealt with an incredible rude member of security but no one could act on it. 3. If no one in your group is over 30 then you will be asked to pay a £20 per person security bond - in addition to the £50 care bond for the caravan. Although this is all refundable, its still quite an expensive and in my opinion discriminatory way to start a holiday. In summary, whilst the accommodation is lovely (even though we were close enough to the club house to hear all the music, rather loudly) the service is quite poor, and there are more rules on the site then anywhere else we've stayed at. We personally will never revisit and I'd advise you really think before booking! We've done the Pontins next door and whilst the accommodation there was really bad, the staff and service made it much more bearable than this!

“Terrible staff attitude”

★☆☆☆☆

written by LukeQuinn on 29/07/2014

We are currently camping on brown field , and the attitude of the staff here is terrible . I have never been to a campsite like it , we will not be returning here , from the moment we arrived there was an issue with the wardens attitude , we declared the tent size on booking but apparently it is an issue . SEriously reconsider coming here , your children will be addressed rudely ( not doing anything wrong apart from playing ) ... You will get attitude ..... It's like being at school ..... It's ridiculous .... Not worth even contemplating coming here .

“unfriendly warden”

★★☆☆☆

written by fishing123 on 03/06/2014

Arrived day one told to move van 1/4 mile away from yellow to red field, there was plenty of empty hard stands opposite us, so parked the van in corner out of way but was threatened with security that they would move it and charge us if we didnt move in an outragious manner. there were vans every where else on the grass in view of toilet block.(i took photos to show) my daughter in law parked on dry grass to empty the toilet in the elsan point and was again shouted by warden to get off my grass and then said to her oh your the one with the van, which belonge to me, nothing to do with my daughter in law, i thought that was out of order. if it wasnt for the unfriendly warden holiday would have been ok, also we paid extra to stay the last day till 4 oclk but was awakened by noisey grass cutting machines at 8 oclk in morn and went on till we left at 3.30 feeling totally exhausted as couldnt enjoy last day.

“Poor booking/service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 15/01/2013

Last night I booked a weekend at this park and paid £125 today I received a phonecall informing me that the online price was incorrect and should in fact be over £300. I asked if they could honour the price but was told no this isn't possible. I can accept mistakes can happen but over £200 worth is unacceptable most places honour the booking so I was disgusted this wasn't possible especially as it is only 5 weeks until my break and I paid in full when booking. Just hope my refund now goes through but I will not book with these again. The price you see is NOT the price you pay.

“lovely clean camp. ”

just back from a wonderfull 4 night stay and had a brilliant time. First i must praise the friendly staff who was very helpfull. We arrived very late on the sunday night and the security man was very helpfull in finding the keys for the caravan and giving us general information about the camp and surrounding area.We private rented our caravan and found the caravan immaculate with a enclosed garden for our dog.All the other caravans around us all seem in good order and the grounds was very clean and well looked after. we used the indoor swimming pool which was full of people having a good time and i loved the fact that the swimming pool floor was cushioned. changing rooms was clean.we did use the club house, it was out of school holiday time so a little quiet but we loved the comedians on the monday night, very funny. Also would like to say a big thank u to Amy on the reception who took the time to write down the directions to chedder.

“caravan owner from hell”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/08/2012

we booked this caravan direct with the owner through the internet, we needed a van for a couple of nights to go and pay our respects to our Dad that died last year 27/07/11 and his ashes are scattered in brean, we 1st experienced problems when the owner of van 116 said we booked it for 3 people, which we had not, then she texted a couple of times to tell us to make sure it was clean,we always leave as we expect to find, ok the caravan is dated and seen better days, and we were abit disappointed at a cost of £200 for 2 nights plus £45 for passes which we had not intention of using, but thought we'd make the best out of the situation, on returning to the van on the 1st evening, we turned the bedroom light on and it blew the fuses, we tried the consumer box but to no avail, we ended up having to text the owner who even then tried to imply we had done something wrong.... the outside box had fused and maintainance got it sorted, on our day of departure we cleaned the van so it was spotless, washed the table clothbecause i had spilled a small amount of coffe on it, and really we expected to have trouble just because of the way she had seemed to be, i was going to take photoes as we left and thought don't be silly, but now wish i had..since returning we have had a phone call, very heated call stating we had put 2 cigarette burns in the table cloth, none of us smoke and i know there was not, there were 2 marks on it that would not wash out and as far as we knew they were there before, she has verbully chastised my mother over the phone, especially when my mom is still grieving and we would not rent this caravan again if it were the last 1 in brean, so Lisa caravan owner we know the truth..why lie????????

“Oh dear I prefer a week in my backgarden”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 27/06/2011

This is possibley the worst caravan sight I have endured. firstly they were aware there were two sets of adults and two cars, yet only provided one caravan key, when I approached staff for a further key they were less than useless telling me they have no spare key (strange that there were two doors to the caravan with two diferent locks but we only had one key). The caravan itself was not as advertised and if it had been cleaned I am blue bear, it was filthy and to be quite hoenest I was glad to get out of there, no ball games and keep your children quiet but you can let your dog deficate all over the grass if you want (strange). The nice sandy beach as advertised is nice and is sandy however it is over a main road so lovely to stand and play chicken with the cars. The leisure park was exspensive in its defence the staff there in particular the manager were extremely friendly. We didnt try the pool, mainly because it looked like it was a building site to be honest. The entertainment club was ok, but not very adult orientated unless you enjoy a Hannah montanna tribute act. Food, well theres a cafe/takeaway, that if you dont mind waiting 30 minutes for a breakfast is ok! the shop was well stocked but was supposed to open 8 till 8 , i went at 6 it was shut? In fairness whats really against this park is the fact there is absolutely nothing to do in the area, in fact the best thing we did in the whole week was drive to Wookey caves over 30 miles away. This is one of the most exspensive yet poorest quality places I have ever been to. Even my children couldnt wait to get home.

Food, well theres a cafe/takeaway, that if you dont mind waiting 30 minutes for a breakfast is ok!<<< there are plenty of places to eat in brean , quick service and a good price , overall ur review of brean is rubbish , we go there every year and its lovely

I dont get how you can say there was nothing to do.

youve got parks, ALOT of arcades, beach, golf, fair ground, swimming, bowling. and the market on the back of the rides
its clean, tidy and there is ball games, more that 1 entertainment club, some just for adults. and staff are lovely

“absolute rip off-TERRIBLE.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 04/06/2011

just arrived back from brean on the 3/06/11 and it was a total rip off!! swimming pool was like a construction site with no outdoor pool as advertised!!! cant believe we had to pay £423 for a caravan for 4 nights and then the children had to pay £3 to use the on site pool for 2 hours. Fun fair was a skank too. If you bought a wrsitband for £20 you could only use this on half the rides. Most rides cost 5/6 tokens while the go karts cost 8 tokens(£4!!!) tried to speak to staff who were not helpful. Went and spoke to Ssrah House, the managing director, who was very abrupt and non helpful. Terrible place would definetly not advise anyone to go there as it is a rip off and horrible place. Save yourself some money and camp in your local farmers field.

arrived on site and got the keys to my static caravan (no point in arriving early as you won't be given the keys) found the caravan well presented. if you are thinking of going swimming don't bother seen better pot holes the night life was a waste of time it starts with bingo at 5.30 then goes on to the kids entertainment if your kids like to see a large man shouting and giving away the occational cheep toy then this is for you and goes on to a few of the site staff doing a very bad karaok 'mmmmmmm nice'

written by on 20/09/2010

We were camping, toilet blocks are very clean and underfloor heated, pitches are very close together!! ideal if you got on with your neighbours as we did. funfair was ok for all ages as they have tried to cater for everyone - although most of the big rides were shut when we was there due to repairs. The passes are a con really as you cant just pay for the nights you want to go into rj's if you go for the week you have to pay for the week!! so our £56 we paid for the week only used the club twice!! food is readily available on this site with fish and chips, chinese take away, cafe, pizza!! not badly priced the same as @ home really. its like anywhere the site is clean and its what you make it!! personally we had a fab time!!

Just had a long weekend on Brown Field. The wardens Steve and Bridget were very helpful and friendly. They kept the toilets and showers spotless. They worked hard to make everyones stay a good one. We will be sure to visit again soon. Brilliant location as directly opposite the beach.

written by on 16/08/2010

Leisure parc is mainly old stuff, play yard only centered so on some places not reachable for little children, Staff could not help with whats was interesting nearby, no respect from campers for other campers.
Nothing compared to whats common on the main land.
Swimming pool was nothing. Slides should be special but aren't compared to most of the swimmingpool slides in Holland.
Only good thing where the big pitches.
We will not visit Unity again.

★★★★☆

written by on 19/06/2010

I went with 3 friends that I had not seen for months. We did not use the facilities as we wanted to chat. The caravan was first class, we left it perfect. The site was well manicured, surprisingly quiet with a reasonably stocked shop. The clean beach was across the road and the touring site was landscaped and neat. Enough fun nearby for children.
My biggest complaint is:I can't get them to return my Care and Respect Bond value £50. Promised to be returned after 1 week. Answer; We sent it 1st class post.(They didn't) I have told them to cancel that cheque and send a new one (they haven't)A really good way to spoil things and totally dishonest. Beware before you consider booking.

Just stayed at Unity last bank holiday Monday, in touring caravan. The toilet facilities were a long walk from our pitch and the one block served a couple of hundred pitches. Got fish and chips from 'Treasure' takeaway the chips were the worst we have ever had from any takeaway. I complained to Unity and were told that mine was the first complaint received regarding the quality of food!!

My family has visited brean sands holiday park a couple of times now. I loved it because the caravan we stayed in had a lovely garden for my dogs to play in. The attractions are fantastic such as go karting, horse riding, the swimming pool, the club house, the fun fair and there is a wonderful play area for children of all ages. The staff were very friendly and when we arrived our caravan was very tidy. the holiday park is quite near to some beaches which is where we took our dogs. We were extremely sad to leave because we had so much fun, but i hope to go there again sometime as it was one of the best holiday parks i have ever been to. there is only one bad thing i have to say and that is that i didn't really think the arcade was that good because it was rather small. apart from that my family and i enjoyed ourselves sugnificantally.

We have just returned from a last min break,to Holiday Resort Unity, we thought we may have been taking a chance this way but were so very pleasently suprised at our accomodation. The owners met us at their van, which was out of this world, a real treat, very very clean, and equiped with everrthing you would expect plus so much more....even a wii machine and a tandem free of charge. the owners were very welcoming, with tea coffee milk cake, even a couple of bottles of wine and a bowl of choc's for us. Have never had anything like it before and have been taking caravan holidays for years. I have heard of some sub standard vans on site but this one was the bee's knees.....take a look on www.unitycaravans.co.uk very friendly people and we will definatly be returning to them next year. The site itself was clean and lots to do.
