Do you close the machine's door between washes? Leave the door open between washes.

“Mouldy Machine”

★☆☆☆☆

written by cqRyan1945 on 16/07/2014

Hate this machine. Live in Aus where it is hot and dry and always leave door open nonetheless the machine rubber ring is full of mould. follow the advise to clean, do hot washes, rinse with baking soda etc but still get flecks of mould on our clothes. As the machine heats the water I cannot do a cold wash either so always have loads of hand washing to do otherwise colours tend to run, even with a special colour care detergent. Wish we'd never bought it!

“Wrong choice”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hackettts135 on 28/06/2014

Bought Indesit 4 years ago and was great for first 2 years. Post that it started showing it's face. Every now and then water intake stops and need to call up technician who charges a hefty amount. The current status is that technician is saying the PCB is gone and needs a replacement, which is costing me half the original price I paid when bought in the show room. Now in two minds to get it repaired at that hefty cost!!! Wrong choice MADE, not sure repair will be a good choice?

“waste of money”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KelvinBishop182 on 26/04/2014

Indesit Moon washing machine is the biggest disappointment and waste of money ever. I had it barely a year when rust started on the lower edge of the machine opening. The softener compartment built up a lot of black gunk and the rubber on the inside of the door is full of black mould. Initially, I was impressed by its great look, powerful spin and its simplicity of use. However, first impressions aren't everything as I was soon to find out. With each use my clothes continue to be covered with slime. There is a foul smell from the machine even though as recommended I cleaned the machine regularly and left the door open between uses. I bought an Indesit machine because I was so satisfied with my last Indesit model. I just wish Indesit took customer complaints on board and apologised for this model's failure. Customers should be refunded or compensated in some way. This model should never have left their factory. I definitely would not recommend this machine.

I took a policy out with Domestic and General.I originally reported my washing machine not working on the 2nd January 2014 via web site contact form.I left it for a week before telephoning them to chase up an appointment time (due to it being just after Christmas period) I was then told that my contact through the web site contact form has not been processed. The lady I spoke to then generated an appointment for the 14th January 2014. The engineer then surveyed the faults and told me he would then need to order DRUM ASSEMBLY, DOOR SEAL, X2 MODULES CONTROL BOARD DISPLAY BOARD. As they do not stock spare parts it would take a further 7 working days for them to be delivered and an Engineer would phone when they are available. I then got a text informing me that the Engineer would be out on the 23rd January 2014.The engineer then came out this morning and started stripping down the machine to fit spare parts. The engineer then pulled the door seal off and paint work came off the rim. I was then informed that the repair of the door seal could not be done as he would need to order a whole new cabinet.Obviously, not happy I phoned Customer Services at Indesit who are D & G Contractors for Washing Machine repairs. They informed me that they would have to order a whole new case and because its not in stock they would need to order it from Italy. They then generated a further appointment for the 30th January 2014. I have been without a washing machine since 2nd January 2014. I asked why Indesit where rebuilding the machine Whole ne casing,Drum Assembly. Door Seal and x2 Modules and water valve and x3 Engineer Visits. This did not make sense and I found it hard to believe that the amount of staff resources and cost of spare parts that the replacement casing was ordered. I asked too speak to supervisors and managers and was told sorry you cant speak to our department managers we are not allowed to put you through. They also used my mobile and credit to liase with the engineer. Appauling!!! CONSIDER OTHER RESOURCES BEFORE USING THIS COMPANY !!! BEWARE

“Hotpoint are rubbish ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ann302010 on 20/08/2012

I have three hotpoint products, washer dryer and fridge freezer over £1100 worth, they are all rusty and they are all three yrs old, I'm disgusted at how awful these item look considering how much money was spent on them, my last washer and dryer lasted me 10yrs..I bought hotpoint thinking they would be just as good, how wrong I was, I'm now getting on to hotpoint as the rust is so bad on the door seal it was leaking this morning, and flooded my kitchen, ..I can't afford to replace an item like this just at a drop of hat, it's ridiculous something need to be done..

“Indesit 1400 door wont open”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/05/2012

Have the Indesit 1400 - also have mould on clothes and in drum and drawer. I am constantly cleaning it. Thought it was just me. I have also noticed alot of our clothes are getting small holes in them - as though they are catching on something. The electric screen keeps flickering which gets sorted if you tap it but today the door wouldnt open after the cycle finished. Indesit wont come out for a week despite me having cover. Im on my third phone call to them. I have wet clothes inside which will be mouldy in a week. They have just told me that if I turn the machine off, wait 5 mins, the door will open. Hello? I tried that before I called them and no it doesn't work. Indesit say I can claim for the mouldy clothes but cannot arrange for an independent engineer to come out. Doesn't really make sense. So not impressed with their service or washing mchine.

Totally agree with above statement .... I clean everything regularly , use Calgon , wash smaller loads with no avail !! All the washing comes out with dirty little scum marks and getting very fed up !! Also even though I leave the door open to avoid smells it still smells like an indian takeaway ... not happy at all

“Great machine, have had it 3 years”

★★★★☆

written by on 20/03/2012

Got this machine 3 years ago and unfortunatly a part has broken and i have to get a new one, I came by this site for reviews on other indesit model with a larger kg capicity. I wanted to let you know something i read in a magazine. Fabric softner remains in all machines and this is what causes the smell, by replacing the fabric softner with vinegar and using one eight the amount of washing powder with a teaspoon of bicarb of soda it is actually better for your clothes, and if you use the bicarb and vinegar to wash the machine (60 degree wash) every fortnight it cleans the machine too. I have been doing this for about 3 months now and the difference in my clothes is amazing. (saves money on washing powder too). Also spoke to a dishwasher repair guy and he said dont use the expensive tablets, use a store brand powder with a really good rinse aid. Also re the mould on the rubber, to remove use vinegar, vinegar kills the mould, bleach will only remove the colour. Hope this is helful.

“Do not buy this product”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 20/02/2012

Less than 2 years old Foul smelling, mouldy seals from month one, even after wiping seal dry every wash. Have replaced complete seal over 3 times in under 2 years. Its the loudest washing machine we have ever heard and vibrates itself all around the kitchen. Today the cast metal drive pulley shattered into pieces with a massive bang, spent 2 hours ringing Indesit only to get nowhere really. The 5 year manufacture guarantee on parts is only valid if you pay Indesit £140 to come out and undo one bolt to replace it. They have it in stock but after going round in circles finally found myself speaking to a rude lady in parts who could find the part on the computer but there is no price for his part to buy. She promised to find out and call back - NEVER DID. Had enough going to scrap heaven now and would never buy anything from indesit again.

“I love my moon too.”

★★★★☆

written by on 27/01/2012

Yes the seal does go a bit mouldy but so has every other washing machine I've owned. It doesn't come off on the clothes, they come out smelling and looking clean and fresh. I use liquitabs in mine. I like the look of it, its A rating and the fact that there are only 4 wash programs. It's so simple to use.

“moon washing machine, DONT DO IT”

★☆☆☆☆

written by bigbird69 on 02/01/2012

This is the worst machine I have ever owned, I have had it for less than 12 months, the door is full of mould and it stinks, ive scrubbed the mould on the inside of the door but it comes back within a month, the gentle cycle and the quick cycle leave powder all over the clothes, even when I have tried using the smallest anount, I hate it and wish I had never brought it, looks nice, but is totally rubbish, my best friend copied me and brought one, and has had exactly the same problem

“2nd Person in the world to love my moon!”

★★★★★

written by on 29/12/2011

I've owned my Indesit Moon for 4+ years and it's fabulous so I'm the 2nd person to love my moon! I generally use the 30 degree wash as it gets everything clean (although I pre-soak really dirty whites, mud and blood), only takes about 30 minutes and is sooo quiet. The rubber door liner has gone black and mouldy but it doesn't come off on the clothes on the 30 degree wash and isn't smelly. The removable door dispenser takes powder, liquid and conditioner and other types can be put directly into the machine. Obviously it is removable for cleaning so it always looks new. I've seen reviews about the clothes coming out with bits on them and I have to admit that I used a black dye (for use in machines) to darken up some black clothes and since then every time I use the 40 or 60 degree washes little flecks of grime were left on the clothes which I thought was residual black dye so I mostly stick to the 30 degree wash unless I'm doing a dark load which need a higher temp. In hindsight I think it can't still be residual dye, but the mould coming off the door seal on a hotter wash, it just doesn't bother me and I would buy a moon again, perhaps this time I'll try to dry the door and not allow the mould to accumulate.
