welcoming. Suite 15 was so clean and posh. The food was excellent and had a taste of real home cooking, I was still full when it came to breakfast time, again there was lots of choice. The room had beautiful soups from Sedburgh Soap Company, which they also sold in the Village shop next door, this was so quaint. We loved the fact that there was a booklet in the room which detailed walks you could go on. We will certainly be going back before the year is out! There was free wifi available but for us it only worked in the bar area, this was probably down to lack of signal on our iPhones

The Black Swan is in a great location, and it's really well worth a visit, but I left disappointed as we hadn't been told that on our second night a function would effectively take over the establishment. I was also in a an annex building, which on the first night more or less played host to the pub-smokers, and on the second I "enjoyed" the merriment of the late function leavers.
Otherwise very good - and breakfasts which include eggs from their own free range chickens and "award winning" black pudding are worth getting up for. Very civilised, clean and friendly. It you're in Cumbria it's worth getting off the very beaten track and heading to Ravenstonedale!
