I'm just coming to the end of the contact with my Nokia 6500 Slide and I can't really say I've had any problems. A few other reviews have mentioned problems with the screen freezing and the phone resetting itself during calls, however after having the same problems, one call to my provider's Customer Services pointed me in the right direction - you need to go to the Nokia website and upgrade the software. Beware though - this loses all your contacts/calendar entries etc so you need to make sure you backup first! I'm a big Nokia fan and have come back to Nokia after a Samsung and something else which I've blocked from my memory, and as always the texting facility of the Nokia is far superiour. I'm not one for too many features on my mobile - texting, the odd call and calendar is all I really need and this phone ticks all the boxes. The styling is nice and the phone is robust (has survived several attempts by my toddler to wreck it) and there are several nice features like automatically locking on closing etc etc. Lots of nice profile options and easily customisable. The PC software is great and easy to use. I have had a few problems with it 'losing' the memory card but this seems to have resolved itself. I will be swapping to another Nokia (probably the 7610 Supernova) when my upgrading time comes but only as I get bored easily and like new toys!

The design and looks of the Nokia 6500 Slide phone are nice, the stainless steal finish is particularly nice. The general firmware and makeup of the phone need work, i didn't mind the actual usual nokia interface. However, the fact that the phone keeps freezing and problems occur due to firmware and software update issues.! Not too bad.... i think the firmware and software need big changes!

Overall the Nokia 6500 phone is the best phone i have ever had, and has become part of my life . It has become so much a part of me that i cannot go anywhere without it, being an extention of myself. This technology is virtually me. Anything that can enhance my living style. In this case this phone has done exactly that. Good quality photos and videos, Scientific Calculator ,Plenty of free Themes , Games and Applications for this phone if you look hard enough. Micro SD Card up to 4Gb. Voice Dial. Cant think of too many bad points, Sd micro card could have been external. Speaker sounds could be better and battery could be longer lasting before recharge.

Overall a good phone, small but with enough features for me. I'd previously used an N series and I was a bit worried about 'downgrading' to a regular phone. But the ability to run J2ME programs and the nice screen meant that the phone is just as good as a smartphone

The Nokia 6500 Slide is worth the money i've paid for it, 99Euro. But the battery life is almost a deal breaker. It's worse than in a full featured smartphone.

Unlike others, I have not had any issues (yet) with screen freezing, fingers crossed!
The battery is a strange one. In terms of standby time, it's as good as any, BUT as soon as you want to play a game / watch a video, or make a 10-15 minute call, you can practically follow the battery meter going down before your very eyes!
As above, the plus points are the music player, which in my opinion is ironically much better than the Sony Ericsson W910i walkman phone! Also, the camera is great, a good range of picture size adjustments, and the automatic flash is particularly useful.

The style of the Nokia 6500 slide is simple clean and functional, the best Nokia at a good price. Shame this mobile is not a 5 meaga-pix it would be the BEST but it claims it's a 3.2 mega-pix so thats ok, buttons are simple and mobile comes with USB lead for phone to pc so download and upload is so EASY! Drop it and it could spell doom but with such a great mobile you should be happy to treat it well. Battery is short so be careful as talking and playing games on it will drain it down. Sounds like a 50/50 phone but trust me the style and simple style/functions all makes this mobile a good purchase and i'm on orange dolphin, it's all good for me!

Easy to use, sleek design and good for messages. It reset often and disconnect while you are talking. I wonder if they have found any cure for resetting

AFter reading the other views on the Nokia 6500 Slide i thought it might be a good idea to point out some other issues which i seem to have and not found anywhere else, does anyone else have them?

I have to admit that my Nokia 6500 slide DOES freeze, and, very annoyingly, loses it's background picture! And to think I was blaming my daughter for messing with my phone! I take it you've read my review (Lioness72), when I'd only had it for a couple of months. I WAS sceptical whether it would last me a full year, but I have to say, in the months following my review, my phone has not got any worse at all, but still has the slight niggles I mentioned before. If it stays like this, I'll be happy.

My Nokia 6500 slide i bought is on orange and it constantly freezes and locks meaning i have to switch it off to access my screen. It is a shame as other than that the phone is fab.

The Nokia 6500 Slide is a great phone. Am considering upgrading to N95 at end of contract, but this phone is smaller and fits in pocket nicely. Got all the features I really use, so wondering if N95 will be any better really.

The Nokia 6500 Slide has a really nice solid feel to the phone. Excellent phone all round. Wonderful camera, easy to use, first class results for the pixels available.
Best phone I have owned, and probably one of the best on the market.

For the price you can't really complain, i'm more than happy with the phone for my usage, i think the black brushed alu version looks amazing! i bought it because my old sony ericson battery was blown (k700i) and was 1.3mp served well but i needed a new phone, i use it as an alarm, and mp3 player and ofc to phone/keep in touch with friends and family to be honest i got more than what i expected when i bought it very happy with it, only regret is maybe the short battery life which would bug you if you call alot.

The Nokia 6500 Slide phone may look simple and stylish but it isnt simple, however, it is very stylish!!
The solid stainless steel shell is scratch resistant and offers a very solid, yet stylish outlook to your mobile whilst still allowing the phone to be relatively light. The screen offers 2" of incredible clarity and definition and is brilliant for viewing photos, and video on the move. The upper keypad above the slide is nice and shiny and comfortable to use. The lower keypad below the slide is excellent in the comfort department, allowing you to text quickly and comfortably. The camera onboard is a 3.2 megapixel with a Carl Zeiss lens. The clarity is astonishing for a 3.2 mp camera. The camera also includes 8x optical zoom and autofocus, so you can really catch those important snaps in good quality without needing a huge specialist camera phone such as the Samsung g800. The video capture is of great quality, and i found this particularly useful. The phone also incorporates a camera snapshot button on the bottom right handside, so that you can take photos like a real camera. The flash is of very good quality, probably the best i have seen, as it is incredibly bright. The speakers are incredibly loud and definitive, and are really good for playing your favourite tunes without being a specialist walkman mobile. I also found the video calling camera at the front of the phone to be of very good quality and the sizing spectacular. The features onboard are very useful including very easy to use functions such as FM radio and mp3 player. The settings and the choice of customisability is great, allowing you to make your phone perform how you want it to.
I would recommend getting the phone on the phone network 3 in the UK. You get very good coverage, free Windows Live Messenger for IM messenging and free news bulletins from planet 3. You also get a free 256mb micro SD card to store some tunes as well as your photos you take and the videos you shoot.
Hope this helps...!

First Nokia 6500 Slide handset bought in Jan 08, which was exchanged 4 times since then due to problems with it locking up and the buttons not working intermittently. I have given up with this handset now, and am going to try something else. Orange say that the new non-symbian software is more reliable but I say to the contrary. Never had these problems with my last 4 Nokias.
