“Very Misleading”

Written on: 09/05/2020 by Catlover25 (1 review written)

Having recently finished university, I spotted that Katie Bard were recruiting for a graduate recruitment consultant position, which I clicked on and applied for. I got a phonecall the same evening, asking if I'd like to come in. The guy who rang me said that 'we'd look through my cv' when I arrived which I thought was a bit strange but nonetheless, he'd made it sound like an interview. I'd done some research and some interview prep and was ready to go. However, when I arrived, I was confused… Read Full Review

“Avoid like the plague ”

Written on: 04/10/2017 by Nin_bayl (1 review written)

Poor service!!! After being out of work I had my interview with one of the consultants, they were positive and offered me temporary work until a permanent position became available. They called me a few days later to offer me the work for the following week but haven't heard anything. The person who deals with the temporary workers ignores me, the consultant ignores my calls and emails. They do not find you work they make you believe you will and they advise not to sign up to any other agencies… Read Full Review

“Disgraceful”

Written on: 07/06/2017 by dougthepug1 (1 review written)

Registered with Katie Bard immediately after being made redundant and although the interview went well and it was very positive, the company is an absolute disgrace. Not once did the representative (Birmingham office) contact me with any potential leads and I had to contact them to ask why after seeing lots of HR admin roles with their name attached that they hadn't contacted me to put my name forward. Would not touch this company with a barge-pole!!!!… Read Full Review

“Worst of a bad bunch”

Written on: 27/11/2016 by Madden361 (1 review written)

Despite a good first impression during the registration process, I began to feel uncomfortable during the interview. The woman (fairly senior) seemed shocked that someone with high grades didn't already have a job and asked inappropriate questions about my personal circumstances. They collected a lot of information about past experience and skills... then offered completely irrelevant jobs in locations that were expensive or impossible for me to reach! I was patronised in my first role, which… Read Full Review

“terrible”

Written on: 18/10/2016 by iwMcKay123 (1 review written)

I would not recommend Katie Bard to anyone, I am in the process of changing career paths to become a PA I e-mailed 3 different staff members at the agency and made 1 phone call I did not receive a response back! Clearly they looked at my CV and made the assumption that I wanted to continue being a fee-earner and could not be bothered to respond! Shows the lack of professionalism and greed, only willing to help people who they can place in an instant. Staff need training or to change career… Read Full Review

“No contact waste of time!”

Written on: 03/10/2016 by Terry119 (1 review written)

I submitted my cv for a job I really was interested in. The email that came back stated it may take us a couple of days to get back to you which I thought fair enough. But after over a week of no contact I got suspicious. When I read reviews on here I realised it's just a ploy to get details. I can imagine they build a database and sell it. I will be contacting indeed.co.uk to tell them how awful they are hopefully no one else has to waste their time!… Read Full Review

“Waste of time”

Written on: 24/02/2016 by AdalynnPatterson481 (1 review written)

Very shocked! Consultants appear to be very enthusiastic at the beginning during the registration process. However they take 2 hours to interview with irrelevant questions. Very appalled by the lack of communication, given the most random temp roles opposite to my preferences which were addressed at the beginning. Furthermore, as I was hesitant to take on a role which I did not appear to like the sound of, I was then told in to come in and have a 'catch-up' with one of the inexperienced… Read Full Review

“Absolutely shocking”

Written on: 14/07/2015 by NoahKerr (1 review written)

Katie Bard fabricate jobs, lie in job descriptions and post multiple adverts for one role creating the illusion that they have many varied and exciting roles available. In order to be put forward for any role, you need to be interviewed by one of their consultants, which I believe is pretty standard these days. However, during my interview my skills, interests and experience were disregarded and I had my personal life picked apart bit by bit. The consultant even made a note on my CV that I was… Read Full Review

“Angry ”

Written on: 09/08/2014 by Orlandoq1975 (1 review written)

I met with KB in he Birmingham branch about a role , they seemed very enthusiastic to register me. They barely spoke with me but once I got an interview they were almost harassing me and flooding my inbox. At this point alarms bells were going , I had been told that I was the only candidate from katie baird going for the role but discovered that their had been some sort of conveyer belt of people going for this job who had failed within the last week. KB explained where the others had gone… Read Full Review

What most probably happened is that KB asked the company for a finders fee and the company did not want to pay it. Always get feedback from the company yourself - a lot of companies are quite happy to give feedback, most recruitment companies don't actually want to put you in a permanent position as it will make them very little money. They want to recruit and sign you onto their books because 1 - they will get commission for it, and 2 - they will constantly bug you with temp and contract jobs which will make them a tidy sum whilst you will see very little in return.

“Terrible communication”

Written on: 06/08/2014 by Power117 (1 review written)

Went through the laborious process of registering and initial interview with katie bard- all seemed well. Interviewed over the phone and put forward for a position. This company then went blank. They say they will help you find a job and are considering you for every role that comes through...after one interview I heard nothing back from the, no more feedback or interest in jobs. Throughout is all, I had to be the one to chase them and call back etc. would not recommend this agency to anyone… Read Full Review

“for the employer not the employee”

Written on: 17/07/2014 by Olsonlm250 (1 review written)

Would not recommend Katie Bard to anyone, very two faced, all for the employer not the employee. Very unpleasant on the phone when asking for help, not interested when you are not happy at the company they have placed you. Making job roles up so you will sign up with them. On a few occasion I asked about a few roles they were advertising, to find out it was the same role, but worded different. KEEP WELL CLEAR.................... … Read Full Review

“Experts in registering candidates -not sure about...”

Written on: 09/07/2014 by DavidDalton (1 review written)

Katie Bard are very keen to register candidates. I have registered 5 times with them throughout my career but as yet have never been offered a temporary position or sent for an interview. Having used other agencies, I have gad no problems at all and as regards permanent positions I have been able to secure most of my permanent positions through own efforts. Don't waste your time with KB. Instead utilise it to look at websites etc… Read Full Review

“Terrible! ”

Written on: 02/05/2013

I have applied for many jobs with them, registered with them and they have not bothered to keep in touch in regards to jobs. The worst recruitment agency! I would not recommend them to anybody. They seemed friendly when I went to register and said they would be in touch. I have not had a call from them once! They spam websites like Reed and totaljobs and it seems that there are loads of jobs but they have advertised the same job 5 or 6 times! How can we make complaints against them?… Read Full Review

“Don't care about the candidates!”

Written on: 19/10/2012 by Mel1989 (1 review written)

I registered with Katie Bard a couple of months ago. I am a recent law graduate with a very good academic record and a fair amount of experience in busy administrative roles. I too went through the very lengthy process of registration etc. During the interview the job I had expressed an interest in was not mentioned (surprise surprise, it probably didn't even exist). Despite the fact that I have impeccable grades and some solid work exp, I feel like Katie Bard treated me like I was bottom of… Read Full Review

Somethingwillturnup's Response to Mel1989's Review

Written on: 13/12/2012

A few months ago I went to register with this agency. They gave me all the usual agency spiel about my skill-set and experience and how they would easily find me work etc etc etc. Well, they turned out to like 99% of agencies in this respect, but they did tell me that the relationship with them would be a two-way process so I should email or phone them once a week to let them know I was still around etc. Then suddenly the told me that I couldn't be placed because I lived too far away from central London to get to work on time. Well, I live a 20 minute Tube journey away and in 14 years living here I have only been late 3 times and this was due once to London bombs, once to massive electrical failure and once to the Tube breaking down. Nothing to do with where Iive. What an excuse to come up with. They would have known where I lived if they had read my CV. I have worked with people who travel down from the Midlands every day ...

“Katie bard, the joke of Recruitment agencies”

Written on: 17/10/2012 by Sally29 (1 review written)

Where do you start with this agency. I have used them as a candidate and behalf of a company as i handle all the inhouse recruitment. As a candidate, there treatment of candidates is awful with little communication and clueless consultants. Do not touch them with a barge pole if your a candidate and want a realistic good service unless your a desperate graduate, in which case you will fit in well with the other clueless graduates who know nothing about recruitment. You constantly get messed… Read Full Review

“any real jobs advertised?”

Written on: 19/08/2012

I have applied to numerous roles advertised by this agency and havent recieved so much as a phone call or email back. I actually work in recruitment, I am applying for relevant roles and have lots of experience - so i have been very surprised not to hear back from them. I know agencies cant contact everyone, i didnt used to either. But i am convinced a lot of their advertised roles dont exist. I have given up applying to the roles advertised especially as I now have numerous interviews over… Read Full Review

“A complete waste of time! ”

Written on: 06/07/2011

I also applied for the 'Graduate Trainee Recruitment Consultant' role in January this year. I was quickly emailed by their 'longest serving' consultant asking me to call for a chat. When I did, no reference was made to the role I had applied for, she simply asked me the generic 'what type of work are you looking for?' questions. She was keen to get me in for interview and arranged for me to meet with 2 consultants the following day. When I arrived, it became clear they were only interested… Read Full Review

I think your not the only one as the service and treatment from katiebard is awful. Do not touch them with a barge pole and thats business's as well. I was looking for an administrator and on behalf of a company and the consultant Alice Gagg didn't have a clue about recruitment processes and discrimination. There was no way i was using a company with clueless graduate consultants who havn't got a clue about recruitment themselves. By the way most recruitment companies post fake adverts to attract gulable candidates through. A few other individuals have told of experiences with Katiebard and you do not want to be using them unless you want the runaround.
Their consultants are also clueless.

Written on: 04/05/2011

Quite often when I check the Reed website or other such admin job sites i will undoubtedly see jobs posted by Katie Bard in their dozens, I really wonder how many of these jobs actually exist. They re-word adverts and post multiple times so they receive as many applications as possible. They are definetly a recruitment firm to stay well clear of.
I have registered twice with Katie Bard. Once in 2009, and again earlier this year. On the first occassion, I applied for a job on the Reed website… Read Full Review
