My drill is fine but the batteries (I have two) have failed. They hold a charge for about five minutes. B&Q don't sell spares, so I'll have to ditch a perfectly good drill. This is just not good enough and B&Q should be hanging their environmental heads in shame. No more PP tools for me - ever!

Bought one of these as the one I had bought nine years ago finally gave up the ghost. Seemed cheap at £38 but I soon found out why: The chuck locked up after a few weeks use and when I tried to unlock it with a pair of grips the plastic collar with no metal backing just came apart. Conclusion: They have tried to make it too cheap and it is not as robust as the model they were selling a few years ago. I have now bought an Einhill instead. NB don't bother with Black & Decker they have made the same mistake; shame really because in the past they made a really solid mains drill and I still have one.

Forgot to remove the chuck when using hammer action and so need a new chuck, but from the messages belwo there don't appear to be any spares in which case this has been a waste of money.
If there were spares it would be a 5 star product

My drill was working fine until it fell off my roof so if anyone wants 2 batteries and a charger let me know. Good performance, good batteries life and brillant quick charge capability

Cheap drill which performs very well considering the price. Batteries don't hold charge anymore but this happens to all Ni-Cd batteries, even from the big name brands. At least this drill is cheap to buy and therefore replace. Buying a big name brand drill costs more money initially and their batteries are even more ridiculously priced (I should know, I used to work for one of them). This means you end up throwing it out and buying a whole new drill just the same, except it costs a whole lot more money.

An amazing find really, with cheap drills I guess it's pot luck, but the drill I have is brilliant, it has out performed much more expensive drills in the past. Put it this way, the guy who fitted my kitchen used my drill after he used it once as it was better than his which cost 5 times as much!!
I might have been lucky with mine as I suppose the build quality on each drill varies at this price. Unfortunately, after 10 years of use, my charger has died, so I'm on the hunt for a replacement one if I can, as I'm not sure I'll get as good a drill as this one on my limited budget.

I would stay away from the Performance stuff. I had problems with one product (tile cutter) and when I phoned the help line they had no knowledge of the item. I had to photgraph the box and label and email it to them to prove it was one of their products. Perhaps the tile cutter is not the same as a drill, but the spares issue is the same.

The drill is still working fine but the battery is now life expired. No interest from B&Q in supplying a new battery or spares though.

The drill works perfectly, but like many here I found the batteries and charger fail, and B & Q's policy is not to hold spares. They regard these items as disposable. I think this is a black mark to B & Q, and I will certainly keep this in mind when buying my next drill.
If you enter the charger number into ebay, a company will supply you with a new charger, but no power supply.
I'd have liked to know just how long B & Q support these products from a spares point of view. Its not such a bargain when they become obsolete after a few years.

I have a performance power cordless drill 18 volt and the charger does not work any more Ihave contacted B&Q and they cannot even identify the drill ,because there is no type number on the drill,I think that is pretty poor, the drill is ok when it works but you try and get it repaired

Nice drill. No spare parts. Batteries and chargers fail and can't be replaced because the new models have a different shape. Stay away!

Performance Power Cordless Drill 18v, Keyless chuck was too stiff to open, had to take back to store.

Okay, this is the 3rd cordless power drill I have owned and the reason is simply that the old ones batteries has given up and I thought it would be cheaper to get a brand new drill.
Got my performance power cordless for 30euros and didnt expect much of it.
The good is the forward and reverse rotation as the switch for setting to higher or lower speeds. This kit came with two 18V batteries which are a must since they both run down in about 10minutes.
Bottom line after a week of use:
If you need the battery to last longer than 10mins, forget it...but lets face it, this is more or less a toy, hence the cheap price. My 5 year old Black & Decker outruns this one with it's original battery by 5-10mins, so really folks, this drill is not ment to be for serious work.

The Performance Power Cordless Drill 18v is a realy good tool, I have used 3 diferent ones for years. But it is badly let down by no spares available.
Switch assembly failed after a lot of use and would have been an easy repair if only a spare was available!!!

The Performance Power Cordless Drill 18v is a performance drill, great to hold in hand very comfortable, easy to charge coming with two batteries and case to carry around.
Chuck quick and easy to change drills, screwdriver bits, rubberised casing to drill not so easy to slip from hands.
18V power to spare, variable torque, reverse action and hammer action.
Gears broke after 5 years, would like to buy another or have repaired or spare parts available.

Have now had my Performance Power 18v drill/driver for 4 years and it has done a lot of work. I originally bought it because the amount of lateral movement in the chuck was virtually zero - very important for accurate drilling. It is still going strong at the moment on the original battery pack and if it gives up the ghost I will almost certainly buy another. A bit more expensive than some of the other DIY kit available but well worth it and vastly better than Black & Decker.

I have 2 of these for 5 years and they' still better than the best. My friend has been through 3 DeWalt battery packs in this time (but at least he knows he can buy replacements online, cheaply) Have to try the helpline number printed on the side of the drill to see if B&Q can help. Having used it before I somehow doubt it, so if anyone has had any success, perhaps they can post info here?

After days of surfing the web to find parts for my Performance Power Cordless Drill 18v I finally came across this website, this guy can lay his hands on lots of different parts including bearings and chargers. www.carbonbrush.co.uk

The battery power is a bit feeble and the battery has now worn out and I need another. Not sure if I would buy another cordless drill from performance power again.

I have had my drill for 6 years it cost me £39.98 from B&Q and I have never had a moments trouble with it, the batteries are now begining to get a little tired and I would like to replace them, but all in all its been one of the best cordless drills I've had, far better than the black and decker one I had, and it gets used a lot. For me I have know complaints what so ever.
