Riverford's delivery service has been excellent and the fruit is always fresh we also get very useful emails telling us about promotions which help us to decide what we want in our box each week

I have now had my second delivery with Riverford and am very happy. All the veg is great and I can change what I want each week online, I can see what will be in the upcoming veg boxes and the variety is great. I like the fact I have to wash the soil off some veg, would rather that for being able to get a big delivery for across 2 weeks. It's made us eat so much better and we think more about what and when we should eat things so we don't waste anything. Great juicing bags / boxes too :) Was in for first delivery, second time not but I didn't even get a phonecall, they got let into my building and left in safeplace before lunchtime :) Great!

The riverford boxes were good. Quality was fine, recipes were usually decent though you inevitably got the odd one that didn't suit our paticular tastes. But the delivery..... In roughly a year of being customers (roughly 20 boxes) our delivery was wrong 5 times, ie roughly 25%. For example, we either got the two meal box rather than the three meal box we paid for, or the wrong box (eg meat and vegetarian boxes confused). This would be poor in a bargain basement supplier, but this is suppposedly a premium product we are talking about. Worse, the mis-deliveries were really poorly handled. As an example, when the wrong box was delivered, their delivery driver expected my wife to stay at home for the rest of the day so he could pick up the box he'd wrongly delivered and take it to the person who should have recieved it, and seemed to a) view it as unreasonable when we asked what time he would pick up the box and b) seem personally offended at the idea of correcting a mistake he himself had made.

Have had the boxes for about four weeks, medium veg and fruit bag. Always lovely tasting and fresh ,I am enjoying the variety. I love the fact that it is organic and local, just feel that it is expensive, however I feel that it is worth it. As a veggie anyway we use it up and the recipes are a great idea.

I really don't know why Riverford are getting bad reviews as I have had nothing but delicious fresh fruit and veg from them for nearly a year . Our delivery man is very happy and friendly and always has a smile on his face and asks if I would like the delivery brought inside even if it's a small light box. Our veg has been very fresh and the fruit is so tasty and crisp. We also order from another organic fruit and veg company where you can substitute products but have stopped recently as their products are nowhere near as fresh as Riverfords and are smaller portions and less tasty . My partner has always just been a carrot potato and cauli eater he said he did not like other veg but since getting the veg boxes he now eats broccoli sweet potato butternut squash swede and green beans to name a few so that speaks louder than anything else. All I can think is that these people expect fruit and veg straight from the farm to look like it does in a supermarket and not different shapes and sizes from the normal boring examples. I will continue to order from Riverford as we love it and would highly recommend.

Iam totally surprised by the negative replys. The veg is really good quality and taste so good.Had 2 tiny issues and customer service was really kind and replaced the veg the following week. The person who delivers the veg and fruitbox is always kind and helpful. Thanks Riverford. Joanna.Bramley

I am thoroughly disappointed and annoyed by my experience of attempting to give my custom to Riverford. I set up an account online to have a regular delivery. On the day it was due it didn't arrive so I contacted customer services by email and next day telephone. I was told there was no delivery due, although I had logged in earlier that day to check and it was definitely due that day! I was told it was set up for the next week . Next week no delivery - I phone customer services and told payment wasn't set up. I had in fact set up with world pay but they claimed there was a "system error" and that was the problem. They took a one- off payment and I was to receive a delivery the following week . Most people would have walked away by now! Next week no box delivered again!!! This time I'm told there is a system error and when I probe for more info they say there was a human error where something wasn't auctioned and the problem was because I'm a new customer! I said I wanted to close the account and to have my refund. I emailed asking for confirmation of the refund but heard nothing so 2 days later called to ask for my refund. The refund hadn't been auctioned. They were still claiming I hasn't set up a world pay account (I had) no apology for wasting my time to try to give them my custom. I'm still awaiting the refund. Riverford does not value their customers so poor and disappointing.

I missed the cancellation time by 28 minutes so emailed customer service asking for them to cancel the delivery as I was going on holiday. Basically the reply I got was tough get somebody to come and pick it up from your house. I know I was at fault but how much effort would it really of taken for somebody to pick up a phone and call somebody and tell them not to put that box on the Van. Previously Riverford would go out of the way to help you. SO don't know what has happened here the change of emails I received I could not believe so unhelpful..having experienced such excellent service before so disappointed. So I cancelled my account there reply was basically we have done nothing wrong feel free to cancel your account. If you are looking for good customer service stay away

Most things which we revive are relativity fresh. The staff are kind and helpful and the veg is of good quality. Whilst it may cost more than some leading supermarkets we shop there because we don't get lots of stupid substitutions. So... 4 Star! :)

Have just signed up for riverford veg and salad boxes again and was very disappointed. The asparagus was old and woody and the carrots were way past there best. The sad fact is that there was far too little food to feed the three of us for a week and I had to shop for more produce meaning my food bill was astronomical. My other major worry is the food miles clocked up importing food from Europe ... it seemed that more than half the food was imported. The customer service people apologised and refunded half of the money I had paid but I simply cannot afford to shop like this. I shopped with the market garden man at my local market and was blown away by locally grown top notch products at bargain prices rather than stuff imported from all over Europe. Riverford ... I won't be shopping with you again

Title pretty much sums it up, the fruit and veg I received from Riverford was nasty, worse than supermarket veg. Mainly because it tasted and looked like it had been sitting in a warm warehouse for a few weeks before being despatched. I'm new to organic veggies, and was aware the shapes and sizes would be gnarly and varied, but carrots should not bend, and apples should not be mushy. Even I know that, and my taistebuds certainly did. They seem more akin to a giant supermarket conglomerate than a local friendly organic veg supplier. Shop around for a local farm that's not part of a soulless nationwide chain, or just stick to your supermarket, it's cheaper and infinity fresher.

I wanted to love Riverford... the idea of getting fresh organic fruit and veg - and supporting local farmers at the same time - I really wanted to love Riverford. Unfortunately, Riverford's business practices have really put me off. I understand the idea of seasons and I also understand that sometimes nature decides that there won't be enough of an item to fill all of the weekly boxes, meaning that substitutions are necessary. What I DO NOT understand, is taking items out of the box (often the nicest items in the weekly box) only to sell them as more expensive add-on items. When I queried this with Riverford, I was told that: "In this situation is seems better to put what we have on the extras list so that people who really want it can order it." The flaw in this argument is that we KNOW we want what's in the weekly box - but we DO NOT know that we won't get it - meaning that we can't even order it as an add-on for fear of getting double! They have taken the idea of a CSA (community supported agriculture) scheme and twisted it to the point of perversion. Buyer beware I suppose.

I received my first Riverford organic veg box today and I was very disappointed. The delivery driver left the veg in the cupboard outside, without even bothering to knock on the door to see if anyone was in. When I checked the contents of the box, my heart sank. Instead of the fresh, firm veg that I had hoped for there were very small portions of old, sort veg that had lost any vitality they once had. The mushrooms were wilted, the carrots bendy and the aubergine looks like it needs to be used in the next day or it will have to go into the food recycling bin. This is the first review of this type that I have left. And I felt sadly compelled to write it as this box really is thoroughly disappointing.

I had a few boxes but have got fed up with sweet potato, kale & squash! A bit repetitive for me. I'm a bit fed up with making soup. Also I had to make meals around the veg rather than the other way round. Too much like hard work! Also expensive.

Riverford Organic veg is a home delivery service that delivers so much more to your door. A flexible colabarotive approach to extending your healthy eating intent... into reality. Delivered with a smile this uncontaminated food arrives weekly. Orders can be adjusted > added to , subtract, paused , whatever your need at the time. Check out their site.... You have a recipe card that arrives with the box /to go in the lovely folder, that arrives weekly after about three weeks with the box. Some veg came as a surprise / things I have never included. This has ended up as an incentive to try new recipe ideas. I would reccomend this idea. It has changed my life style and made me realise how good things taste , cooked from scratch. This does not mean you need to slave away for hours. I have developed organisational skills , gained a feeling of well being & realise re reading supermarket labels the slow incidious way we are harming ourselves. Give it a try. It encourages eating less, but better quality. As it arrives I wash it and put it all athe bottome of the fridge or a cool dark place . Love it. Best of all my mini veg & dairy cost no more than the suprmarket version .... & free from toxins.

We've had Riverford every week for about 18 months and it's wonderful. Eating seasonally makes mealtimes more interesting and we've been introduced to a number of types of fruit and veg we'd have otherwise overlooked. Plus, it saves us money. I know they regularly check their prices against the organic ranges of leading supermarkets, but there's another slightly less obvious saving to be made. The once a week veg top up means we avoid going to the big supermarket up the road almost entirely. And that saves a small fortune - you know how it is, you pop in for a bag of pasta and come out having spent £25. Really enjoy Riverford. It's like a very useful present every Friday morning and there's always a nice surprise in the box.

I am totally new to the whole fruit and veg delivery thing. I didn't actually eat much fresh fruit and veg but as a way of getting me and my partner to eat more and a bigger variety I decided to the it a try. I tried a different company first but was not impressed with the qualify. I was told to try Riverford by a friend and I have not been disappointed. I have only been a customer for a few months but I'm in love and eating a lot more fruit and veg. I really recommend giving riverford a go. They have not disappointed me so far. So hassle free! Thank you.

I was a customer of another vegetable box company but felt they were an Supermarket in diguise of a veggie box company. So I tried Riverford Farm Organic and I've never looked back. Yes the box contents vary in size and shape and that's the appeal. I peek in my freshly delivered box with anticipation and I'm always delighted. If the vegetables where always the same size and the boxes consistently perfect I would feel I was buying from a supermarket. With Riverford I feel contented to the farming world that I knew little about but with Guy Watsons newsletter and recipes I am learning some wonderful things about how and where my veggies come from. I have contacted Riverford on a number of occasions with questions of importance, feedback or advice on products and they are really great to deal with, whether I contact Riverford or my delivery man. The fruit and veg are delicious and fresh and can be bought regularly as staples or seasonal or custom boxes. I was inspired to write this review today because I got a call from my 1st veggie box supplier with special offers to lure me back but the cut price deals from their ever so nice but pushy sales team can't compare to feeling part of something special where Organic food shopping is concerned.

We have had three boxes so far and the freee fruit box. All produce was delicious, you do have to plan in advance to eat things quicker than the super market stuff but the taste is worth it. The wet garlic was a treat, never tried this before - one nice thing about these boxes you do get to use vegetables you may not normally try. Highly recommended.

Hi Annikar
Thank you for your comment about my review.
The produce I have received from two separate attempts to shop with this company have been disappointing and lead to food wastage due to poor quality. This is unacceptable to me - organic food needs to be fresh and in good condition. I grow and freeze produce in my garden and also shop at my local market garden stall - This way I can afford to feed my family. I would suggest that high air/shipping miles also = high prices/sub standard products that are tired and lacking in nutrients due to their long journey.
