“Dreadful Apple Product ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by TyburnField on 27/09/2014

I have had this iMac for about three months, I nearly took it back after two days and I regret not doing so now. I have nothing good to say about this expensive product. Among its faults, but not all of them are constant freezing especially in address box, you may be able to open website if you can get that far! Be prepared for more expense for external hard drives and other devices. There is not facility to load disks etc. I photo is reasonable but difficult to view photos read if exported. Unable to connect Kodak printer despite Apple saying you can, I have tried about seven or times but It will not allow anything unless from Apple. There is much more wrong with this expensive trash and nothing to like about it. Apple support is non existent, hours on the telephone resulting in a big bill without actually getting an support. I will avoid anything to do with Apple in the future. Absolutely awful company, despite what they promote off themselves! Awful company, awful product. The worst piece of technology I have ever bought. Best to avoid.

What a lot of rubbish this reviewer has written. I suspect it is a malicious anti Apple rant. Or someone who is trying to connect hardware that is causing problems, not their Mac.

For a start, Apple support lines are 0800 numbers so are free. Then there are the free geniuses in Apple stores. Finally there is a huge amount of support online. Shops such as John Lewis, Curry’s and PC World also offer free technical support.

Apple computers connect using USB to any USB drive on the market. plus the incredibly fast Intel Thunderbolt bus will also connect to Thunderbolt and FireWire drives as well.

As long as your Kodak printer isn’t obsolete and you have installed the free printer drivers, you will be able to connect to any printer on the market. Apple supplies most drivers in their free operating systems and more are available for download. Apple stopped making their own printers about 20 years ago.

iPhoto can save in every current image format, as can Preview, included free with your Mac. There are also free applications available that will save your images in any format you need.

Finally, Apple has an enviable reputation around the world for the quality of their products, their level of support and ease of use. They were, after all, using windows, icons and pointers, colour monitors, networking, WYSIWYG fonts, USB, stereo sound… while PCusers were still having to bang rocks together and only got close a decade later.

“Time to go!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by techknott on 17/12/2012

I'm using a 2011 imac that I've had for around a year now and i'm absolutely fed up with it. I've been running windows on it solely for the past 3 months because osx is just so backward and my wife hated it. Just simple things like closing programs down with the cross(doesn't actually close them)- whats the minimize button for then? The magic mouse swipes and gestures are just too much and accidental zooming is frustrating. The PC constantly drops its connection from the network as does the keyboard connection. It wont boot up unless my usb hard drives are disconnected from the back. USB items spark on the metal case when inserting them. Using the lightning connector to output to my tv randomly stops working on osx but is fine on windows - and despite what I was led to believe - regarding Macs being more stable - horse s..t! I have more crashes on this thing using 3d rendering software than I ever had on my windows machines. Also have to pay extortionate 'Apple tax' to upgrade the hard drive as its a none user servicable part now. Like they're not expensive enough. I bought into the Mac rubbish once - never again.

This computer is my first mac, what has to be pointed out about this is the common mis-conception that macs cost more than other computers, if you tried to find another computer with a built in web cam, mic, Bluetooth, a remote control and all of the powerful software you get you will find that this computer is great value for money, you also get the most powerful and safe operating system on the planet. OS X has to be seen to be believed! ONCE YOU GO MAC YOU WILL NEVER GO BACK!

A great computer, the best I've owned yet, (I have had 5 macs so far). As I said above, there are fewer software titles for the Mac but the ones that are available are among the best and most of them come with the Apple Mac. The "newer" models mave an "Intel" processor so you can install "Windows" on the computer and run it natively (without an emulator like "virtual pc") as well as the Mac OS (so, if you already have a large software investment in Windows this will make the transition easier) in all the time I've owned Macs, I've never had the kinds of problems my "Windows PC" friends have had - lost "drivers/devices", viruses, "crashing" etc. Plus, with this latest Mac I got a little suprise, when we needed to share a cable modem connection, We only needed to plug-in a "wireless' router and my Mac automatically found the transmitter and "poof!", I had a wireless "internet connection" and I didn't have to do a thing! I love this Mac!!!
