“Very Bad Service”

Written on: 25/12/2016 by Brisa1979 (1 review written)

So 22nd December I visit Russell and Bromley Marble Arch to purchase two hand bags for my Girlfriend, after taking the bags to the till I’m served, I pay out the nearly £600 for the two bags, when I’m handed my receipt, I ask for the gift receipt, only to be told that the sales person could not issue one now, was then told we can do a refund but it would take 3-5 days for the money to go back on my card, but then I can pay for the items again which they would take the money straight away… Read Full Review

“confusing and unhelpful service”

Written on: 23/09/2016 by Poohla (1 review written)

I purchased shoes and wore them. Within a couple of hours I had bloody blisters on 4 toes. I asked to return them and they said they had to send them to the home office. Since I live in another country, I said I wasn't certain this would work. They assured me they would return the shoes. They have decided, despite the significant injury to my feet, that I need to keep the shoes and now they want to charge 35 pounds to return them to me. Do not purchase expensive shoes from them. They do… Read Full Review

“Complete waste of money”

Written on: 02/09/2016 by ngCole1974 (1 review written)

Will certainly never be purchasing another pair of shoes from r&b again. After spending £185 pounds on a pair of loafers my feet were left with blisters covering practically my whole feet!! Very painful ! I took the shoes back to the store in hope of a refund and was rejected and told that it was my fault for choosing the wrong size even though the staff recommended the size I bought was the perfect size for me. It was nothing to do with the size but the material ! Been over a year since… Read Full Review

“Worst quality for your money ever”

Written on: 22/04/2016 by TaliaBradley293 (1 review written)

I bought a pair of boots which cost 400 . A pair I wanted for months and finally persuaded my husband they would be an 'investment' I have worn them to work only but something plastic which is inside the toe area to reinforce had obviously crushed and pierced a hole through the boot! I was told to send them into the head office which I did and received a really rude and nasty message telling me this was damage I had caused ! I work in an office based job. I do not kick things and would always… Read Full Review

“Quality sadly declined”

Written on: 04/02/2016 by Tyresed430 (1 review written)

I have often bought R&B shoes and used to reckon them a very good mid-price manufacturer. The leather quality was always good compared to cheaper brands. However, my latest buy has changed my opinion. In January 2016 I bought a pair of Guildford style Chelsea boots. The styling and fit are good, but the dye quality of the leather is very poor. They noticeably scuff overnight almost by looking at them and require constant polishing. This is not what I expect for £165 when I could buy a very… Read Full Review

“Please AVOID this brand”

Written on: 04/01/2016 by Michelle180291 (1 review written)

I have been wearing flat shoes for 12 years almost and 2 weeks ago i bought a pair of flat shoes from them. I tried to soften it before wearing but after 20 mins wearing it outside. It hurted my heel and started bleeding as too uncomfortable material. I returned it to the shop and explained to them. They even dis not look at it and insist on that was my fault not choosing the right size. I told them that u bought it for myself in the store and tried it on before buying so it cant be not my… Read Full Review

I agree their shoes are the worst I've ever worn! You could find better in Primark. The quality compared to the price is awful and I was left with blisters, bunions and corns all over my feet. I will not be buying another pair from Russell and Bromley. I thought thier shoes would be good quality but even the lining in their boots seems to stop half way.

“Wish I knew!”

Written on: 11/09/2015 by svWaugh267 (1 review written)

I have to buy Russell and Bromley shoes as they are the only shoes that fit me well. They are over priced, but there are plenty of styles to choose from. Sizes vary greatly within different materials of the style. Well, I now want to buy a couple of pairs of waterproof boots, one long one ankle, and Russell and Bromley Canterbury and Bluewater seem to have a good selection of Aquatalia boots. I don't need just another pair of boots - I need a pair that I can wear if I get caught in the rain… Read Full Review

I used to work at this store many years ago. Staff are not allowed to say a shoe is waterproof as if any water does get in they will be at fault to telling a customer that they are waterproof (although they generally are). Do you expect them to have a leaflet on every shoe? And the ordering system on the computer is not a web browser so they cannot check online

“Rude. Worst Customer Service EVER!”

Written on: 09/07/2015 by upPerry403 (1 review written)

Beware: they will not even exchange sale goods: I made the mistake of buying a pair of shoes in the Russell and Bromley sale. I bought what I thought was the right size but when I got the shoes home they were too tight. I have been told I am not allowed to simply exchange these for a larger size. I found the staff in the store intimidating, the way they challenged me and looked at me like I was a shop lifter. Customer Services is totally not interested in resolving problems or promoting… Read Full Review

“Work brogues that cost £225, but can't deal with rain?”

Written on: 05/05/2015 by iluvyoulongtime (1 review written)

The toe leather on my pair of £225 Oxford F work brogues bobbled after being exposed to rain and then dried. No problem I thought; they present themselves as a quality brand so their customer service should be good...? Unfortunately not. Apparently their shop staff reject the idea that it rains in London and that the water damage to my regularly treated, polished and cared for shoes was somehow my fault. Escalating the problem to their head of customer service (Jason Bleasdale) didn't help as… Read Full Review

Exactly the same thing happened to us last week. We were laughably told by 'customer services' that my son should not have worn the shoes in the rain and that they suggested he carry wellington boots around just in case. We will never shop in R&B again and I am telling all friends and colleagues too.

“Rubbish quality”

Written on: 02/05/2015 by EdithDowling101 (1 review written)

Bought a pair of shoes for £255 but after a few months they split, came away from the soles and the sole wore through. I took them back to Bromley branch and was told 1)that they looked like they hadn't been properly looked after (they had) 2)that they'd been worn in the rain (they had - but surely that's not unusual for a pair of shoes They've been sent back to Head Office now - goodness knows why. The sales assistant was unhelpful and verging on the rude. I'd expected better from a… Read Full Review

“DONT BUY FROM R&B”

Written on: 26/01/2015 by Dontusedrussellandbromley (1 review written)

oh my goodness me, go to clarkes but don't go to r&b. £215 for a pair of shoes that were worn from the house to the car, from the car to a restaurant and then same in reverse to be left with chunks out of the sole. my daughter took them to the BLUEWATER store to ask for a refund, was told NO, this is normal wear and tear. She was then offered for the shoes to be sent to head office for them to be examined. H/O apparently deemed that this is fair wear and tear but as a gesture of good will… Read Full Review

“Don't Complain to Russell And Bromley!”

Written on: 22/01/2015 by AydanHalsey20 (1 review written)

There's a pattern emerging. Unsatisfied customer returns expensive shoes to R&B store. High-handed staff reluctantly agree to return shoes to Head Office for test - if you stand your ground. In my case, the 'test' comprised of a R&B colleague wearing my shoes, without my permission and declaring them fit for my use. HQ reinforce the decision of the in-store staff. In-store staff advise any appeal to go to Head Of Customer Service. After considerable delay, Head Of Customer Service sends… Read Full Review

“Abysmal experience at Russell & Bromley store ”

Written on: 12/12/2014 by LitzyMcKinley471 (1 review written)

I've had a terrible experience at Russell & Bromley store in Oxford Circus by Bond Street Station. I purchased a pair of Highland Stuart Weitzman boots, for which I paid £600. On wearing them to work the next day I discovered that they were not staying "up" and despite the laces they were bunching around my knees. I telephoned the store where the sales assistant agreed to put away a "brad new pair that haven;t been tried by customers". When I returned the shoes the following day the staff… Read Full Review

Similar experience, different shoes. Bought 2 pairs, total cost £290, court shoes and loafers. Loafers were fine indoors. First time out, the right insole was v uncomfortable under my foot. I take extremely good care of my feet and have no problem areas. My chiropodist, whom I visit quarterly, explained that walking indoors does not test footwear. The stride and pressure walking outdoors is different. She told me there is nothing wrong with my feet that would result in the discomfort from the right shoe. Ditto your experience of high handed attitude from sales staff at R&B in-store in Fenwick's of Newcastle. I ended up surrounded by several staff, they had no customer in the 20 minutes or so that I was there. One member of staff, took the right shoe, without permission, put it on her foot and paraded around the sales area commenting that the shoe was fine. Just received a letter from Jason Bleasdale, Head of Customer Service at R&B, defending their position and advising me that out of thousands of people wearing the same shoe that I have a problem with, I am the only one to complain. Maybe the other thousands are too feint hearted to face the Russell and Bromley staff!

“Small problem immediately sorted, great service.”

Written on: 17/10/2014

My previous Russell and Bromley mens zip up boots are still going strong after over 8 years, so I decided to buy another lace up pair for work in the office. Unfortunately, upon wearing them for the first day it became apparent that the tongue had been sewn at an angle so as the leather softened it ended up slipping down to the side. I phoned up the shop and they had already got in the replacement for the pair I bought and put them to one side for me. When they saw the problem they apologised… Read Full Review

“Terrible customer service ”

Written on: 19/08/2014 by 371McFarland (1 review written)

I recently purchased a pair of shoes from this store. I've been a fan for a long time although I've noticed the quality is a bit poor compared to other stores. To cut a long story short, I purchased these shoes and the store refused to give me my money back. I found their customer service extremely unprofessional and unhelpful so if you want to avoid problems in case you want to return shoes, stay away from them… Read Full Review

“Fab shoes and customer service”

Written on: 21/07/2014 by Handbagsandshoes (1 review written)

After wading my way through all the negative reviews felt I had to write a slightly more positive one! I have owned lots of R and B shoes and boots over the years, all bought in the sale, and they are all still going strong and I love wearing them. My suede boots have lasted years and still look good despite weathering some heavy downpours and getting soaked. The staff in the Bath shop are always helpful and friendly and my experience of customer service has been good. I recently bought… Read Full Review

“Fantastic Service and Quality”

Written on: 12/06/2014 by Corinne380 (1 review written)

Fabulous quality shoes and great prices. My suede ankle boots are awesome and the only complaint i have is that some glue on the sole which hides the seam (nothing important) had come off, i took them to the store and they had them fixed for free and delivered too! Never had such service even at harrods or Selfridges! On the same quality tier as other expensive brands such as Prada but slightly below in price which is great! Defiantly worth paying a visit to!… Read Full Review

“Poor quality and appalling HQ customer service”

Written on: 13/11/2013

Having purchased a £150 pair of ankle boots which after just 1 wearing had such horrendous lines in them and looked awful, I for the first time ever returned them to the local Richmond store- within a week of purchase. The manager on duty agreed with me re the unacceptable lining (probably as too soft leather for the style) but they then got sent to HQ for inspection. Over a month later of arguing with their HQ, they have now rejected any grounds for a refund or exchange, have waited until my… Read Full Review

You should contact asap the Citizens Advice Service. They deal with anything like this and and under the Consumer's Act, you are entitled to either a refund or exchange. The CAB will give you advice as to the exact type of letter you should send to their Head Office and how you should proceed during any protracted argument with R&B. I have had occasion to use the CAB several times over products where the retailer initially refused to give me a refund or exchange and so far, with the CAB's help, I have also succeeded in getting redress, ie either my money or an exhange.. It is absolutely appalling that you have been treated in this off-hand manner. Remember the caveat: 'Buyer Beware"! Best wishes and very good luck.

“Poor poor poor”

Written on: 19/08/2013

Wanted my shoes re heeled as they were worn in.. Both pairs were repaired poorly.. I was made to pay £40 for 1 pair incorrectly re heeled. I disputed this in store and was told by the rudest store manager in existence that he would call the police and keep my shoes if I didn't pay and didn't keep quiet. So I paid even though one of the heels is wonky. I just didn't have any more energy to peruse... The other pair were returned as the suede was not glued on to the heel properly.
