“Awesome Game! This series just get better each time!!”

I play GTA since it's first version and I never missed any version so played all of them and there's no doubt that GTA IV is the best so far! It's the amount of effort on the small details that makes this game so good, you can really feel it. The only "downside" to GTA IV if you can call it a downside is the system requirements..they take your system to its limit..and then some, I would recommend playing only on a gaming computer, otherwise you have to take down details of graphics to let it run smoothly which ruins the experience for me.

took out everything that was fun about san andreas and didn't really replace it with anything, also most of the missions are boring and repetitive.GTA 4 has an absolutely horrible story with a completely unlikable main character. also a really bad ending (or a lack of any ending at all)

“I cant understand how people dont give the GTA 4 game...”

★★★★★

written by ragstorich on 16/03/2009

I cant understand how people dont give the GTA 4 game 10/10! if u compare what you're getting for £40 with gta 4 to what you get with other games its no contest at all.
Even without any game content the game is a work of art. i do some 3d modeling and i can tell you its not easy to do a great building with as much detail as the ones in LC let alone a whole city with great atmospherics etc.
Personally i wouldn't say there was a lack of missions. weather it had more or less than GTA SA i couldn't say because i dont count them. Also i don't rush through them just so i can say i've finished the game 1st... i have a life! i'd rather take my time, play a few missions and then i tend to leave it for a while and just mess around. not many games give you that freedom and thats why GTA is hard to get bored of. Most games only let you play the mission in hand and when you die you spawn back at the begining of the 'set track'. by set track i mean there's pretty much only one route you must take through the level but with GTA you can tackle alot of missions from different angles if you find it hard. So each time you do the same mission it can be slightly different.
A great new feature i love in GTA4 is when it gives you a choice of who to kill or whether or not to kill someone. it makes you think and decide which character you prefer. also if you start the game again once you've finished you can make the opposite choices and the game will be a little different 2nd time round.
There's only 2 dissapointments i've found with GTA 4. the 1st is that there's no airplanes that are flyable. i know they left them out in respect of 911 but i'm still dissapointed.
the 2nd is that there's not any 'FUN' cheats to play with. GTA SA had lots of cheat codes to mess with, most of them had no point other than to entertain and that was great because at the end of the day thats what games are all about right, entertainment? my personal favourate in SA was the 'jump 100ft in the air on a push bike' cheat. loved hopping around the map onto buildings it was great! Oh that reminds me there's no push bike in GTA4 which is unfortunate! (skatebords and/or rollerskates would be cool for future games).
I love the whole media aspect of the game.TV and the internet are awsome features and of course they've added about 10 new radio stations which gives alot more veriaty.
Dating is good too but can sometimes get a little too much with everyone ringing you to hang out. i still wouldn't get rid of that feature though.
Anyway all in all i think the game is amazing! Value for money is phenominal! To be honest if you take in account what you get from a video game and compare it to GTA 4 you've got to wonder why all games are priced the same. Rockstar are breaking bounaries with every GTA release they produce and hopefully they'll never stop. they just keep getting better. I think the people who give the game bad ratings are unrealistic and had really high expectations because of rumours they read on the internet. well it met all my expectaions because the only thing i expected from GTA4 is that it would be awsome... and it is!

“GTA 4 - When i first played this game i was truly...”

★★★★☆

written by boroboyben on 21/01/2009

GTA 4 - When i first played this game i was truly disappointed with the overall outcome of the game. I was expecting hundreds of missions wider range of vehicles and more freedom. The side missions are pretty rubbish doing errands for people might as well of made the character a 13 year old boy! Rockstar have really let there quality slip, i thought when i got this game it was going to be the best yet, sadly GTA San Andreas is still my favourite game from the GTA Series!

Despite its bad points it has a number of fun missions, The Bank Robbery in which you get shot at and chased by the police and escape down the subway and run down the train line and come out at the maintenance entrance/exit and have to get Niko and the guys back to the house.

I was also very disappointed by the lack of clothe shops, it San Andreas you had a large varieties of clothes and clothe shops.
Maybe these are some of the things they could improve on in later games, i'm not sure whether they had to leave the good things out to make space for the other improvements, which is most likely the case. When i read online that Niko could make prank phone calls to companies advertised on billboards i thought it was quite a good feature although when it came to trying it, much to my disappointment it didn't work. Then again being able to phone the police, fire and ambulance up i found pretty cool, also being able to use the internet was really cool. Either way i do recommend you get this game its really fun and full of typical British humour.

Not a 10/10. I would like to give it 8/10 but I can see that the developers have tried their best and there are some things in the game that are truly awesome. Should I give it a 9/10? Only if 8,5 isn 't allowed. Behind the hype is an exceptional game with some problems. The biggest for me was the story or should I say the structure of the story. It was repetetive.
Gaming has gotten to a point where the idea, the setting and the style of the game is what really matters. Someone might give a certain game a 10/10 and some other might give it a 7/10. I would say that this was a game where the idea was great. But the setting and style was not for me. Anyway: This is a good game.

“Where do I begin! First of all, never ever buy this...”

★★☆☆☆

written by ae86touge on 21/10/2008

Where do I begin! First of all, never ever buy this game. Rent it, complete it, get the achievments then take it back. Seriously, after the 5 day rental time you'll be BORED on this game anyway in my opinion. The complete lack of content gives this game one of the shortest life span of any game I have ever played. After the missions, there is nothing to do but watch tv in a game your watching on tv or go to the comedy club and watch ricky gervais (Why?). The blurr between story lines and free roam is more like a towering wall I feel. It is still the strict mission based structure of all the previous games. The missions are repetitive and require you mainly to drive/fly/boat somewhere and kill/deliver/scare/rat out someone/drugs/guns for another game character. That is seriously the formulae for the missions. Gone were the days in san andreas when you could do anything. Here is a small section of missing content: planes, more than 2 helicopters, more guns, jet pack, ability to buy houses, modifying ca4s, gambling, ability to change nikos HAIR, the general feeling of freedom you get with the GTA franchise of games. This has killed off in my opinion the traditional over-the-top fun, adictive and never-ending freeplay of well structured missions and side missons. No longer can you recruit 'homies' and tear up the streets. There are NO sidemissions or fun games AT ALL. You get no feeling what so ever for the characters at all, not like previous games. The city is more like a cardboard box city I feel. Ok so times square is smart at night with all the logo lights and neons - but that isn't gonna make me want to buy the game! I personally think its boring, bog standard run of the mill 2 week MAX game, unlike the immortality of san andreas, vice city and gta 3. I could name the amount of guns on ONE hand. Therefore do not recommend GTA 4.

This game is a must-buy, you may have read other reviewers syaing this game 'sucks' or that it is a 'waste of money and time'. I had second thoughts too about buying GTA 4 after reading many harsh reviews but in the end I bought it, and I admit I am a hardcore gamer I have played many games like GTA 4 and I have to say GTA 4 outsands them all.

Graphics-9/10
Story-9/10
Gameplay-10/10
Value-10/10

It had a good story but it was much too repetitive. The intro was goo. The new features were good such as the cover system, the fighting was said to be more natural yet thre was no grappels to make it look real, it was still good though. Rockstar said they were trying to blur the line between missions and free roam and make them influence each other, but the mission structure was the same. At the start Niko is in desperate need of money but later has far too much money.

When I first played the game, I got wowed by the graphics. But as the game goes on, it shows it is lot different to the previous GTA games. I found the cars are much harder to handle, always veering to the side even if I steer it straight. The combat system sucks, take more bullets to kill a person, even with a M4. That's no good. And a lot of stuff they copied from San Andreas but LC is much smalller than San Andreas, not much to do. The markers are too small to see. What happened to fluorescent markers they used in previous games.

Gta4 is in my opinion the best game ever rockstar have taken a few things out that were in san andreas but have put in better things instead, the countryside in san andreas was boring and in gta4 the city feels real I am addicted 2 it but the only ting I do not like is the way cheats make the game act funny however I well recommend grand theft auto 4 for the xbox 360.

★★★★★

written by 03cburge on 17/07/2008

I have been a huge fan of the GTA series since GTA3, and this game is a welcome addition to the series. The graphics are far better than many games on the next-gen consoles and the physics engine is amazingly intelligent.
People say that this game is rubbish compared to San Andreas because there are less things to do, but the reason there are less things to do is that in order to have IV as big as San Andreas they would have to remove the online modes and the physics engine, as well as strip down the graphics.
Overall, this game lives up to the hype and is worth your money.

Not a lot of cars, difficult at times. Super realistic though, a lot of missions, good characters, good story line, suspenseful. Your a really busy character in the game with many friends, a girl friend had a lot of missions so its not hard to lose cash but the whole game is definitely a buy!

“I LOVE this game! ”

★★★☆☆

written by Liebermann on 13/07/2008

I LOVE this game!

GTA4 is an amazing game. It is a truly innovative product with the greatest entertainment value in any game so far.

Unfortunately, as great and amazing the game is, the XBOX 360 is the worst possible platform for it. I have never been so frustrated playing any game ever before! For every hour of playing time, I have at least an hour of staring at the screen ' LOADING' . As if that wasn't enough, the game forces you to always replay the boring initial parts of any mission you fail, which means that you will have to do an awful lot of BORING driving in this game. Driving and racing is part of the fun, but the fun diminishes after a few hours and you will be left with total boredom!

I really love the GTA concept and this time the radio shows are the best ever. If it weren't for the great variety of radio stations and the rich content, the driving would be unbearable and I would have thrown the game including the stinking console through the closed window halfway through the game.

GTA4 gives you the most amazing graphical environment I have seen so far. I would really like to know how they do this. The city looks so real, so alive; sometimes I thought I could smell the hot dogs. I wonder how many hours it has taken to do all the drawing for this game. It got to be measured in man-centuries rather then man-hours! The repetitions in the buildings are hardly noticeable. Only the NPCs are limited and you might wonder why there is the same guy in almost every taxi cab in the city, even if you just pulled him out of one and knifed him. But that's fine. After a while you won ' t care about the taxi driver anymore, except when he hits your fine luxury cars in the dedicated parking space in front of one of your houses and you just got to take care of him..

The sum of voice acting talent in this game got to be the best ever! Even the people on the streets, little phrases here and there, are very realistic and with very little repetitions. The people on the radio are shockingly new and fresh and it's worth buying the game just to listen to WKTT, Integrity or PLR. I couldn't believe that Karl Lagerfeld, the famous fashion designer, works as DJ on K109. He is a very popular talk show guest because of what he has to say and the way he says it. Nevertheless, his comments on K109 are amazingly unremarkable to say the least. He still has some humorous value because of his gruesome German accent.

There are many aspects that make GTA4 a great game, but the one that had me endure all those many boring LOADINGS and replays is the generous amount of humor in this game. Actually, I think GTA4 is probably the ONLY seriously humorous game on the market today. Not only the radio shows, but also the cut scenes and even the dialogues are something to look forward to. For the humor alone, I would give the game 20 out of 10!

The axis of the story line is Nick B. and his hunger for revenge. I liked the character initially, but I found it very hard to identify with his motives, because he doesn't seem to have any. He (and me and you with him) acts like a mindless killer robot without any values, any goal and any reason. The game doesn't really give you any choices either. You have to kill hundreds of people just because. That is something I really don't understand: if you pay millions for graphic talent, voice talent, comedy talents, why can ' t you find a decent story writer?

GTA4 is (again) a linear shooter. Although there seem to be plenty of choices, you don't get any. Yes, you can kill some innocent people and get away with it. Yes, you can drive like a maniac and police doesn't take notice. Unfortunately, there is no way to even marginally feel like a decent guy. You are an utterly worthless murderer and you have to work for the worst people. You are scum. Even Chenej and Bosh seem like honest people next to you!

Fortunately, we don't have to care about the story in a computer game. What counts for us is killing, racing, having (virtual) sex, and ' grand theft auto!

For me, the total bore with the ' LOADING' on the XBOX 360 somehow balanced the total awe of the actual game. Here is a game with the potential for 20 but on the Xbox it only gets a 5 from me!
