My Gas and Electric contract came up for renewel and Sainsburys through British gas come up the best deal. So i thought i would go for it. Two months in and they want to up my monthly bill from £79.50 to £125.50. And I gave them the correct figures from what they gave me as i was with them last year. “Avoid homecare like the plaque. I worry about our safety”

I had a service and a breakdown call out on tuesday. The engineer without covering his shoes walked up my stairs and put mud up them. When he left, he shoved the covers on his shoes into my hands that he eventually put on. He told me to give them to the next person that came in. “Poor billing process”

I switched suppliers so wanted final bill. Found out they haven't been taking readings for 9 months as promised and didn't let me know, put original readings back, so far sent 3 enormous bills which are still wrong. “Took money fraudulently from my bank account”

I am not a customer of British Gas yet they set up a direct debit from my bank account and TOOK MONEY FROM ME. I called them and they hung the phone up on me. I emailed and was told they would do nothing without my british gas account number (I AM NOT A CUSTOMER). I persisted and was told british gas had done nothing wrong when they set up the direct debit as they don’t have to verify it is correct. Worst incompetent service I've ever seen. Avoid at all costs. 1. Signed up with British Gas, gave them meter serial numbers. 2. Account got opened with neighbors meters assigned to it anyway. 3. Neighbors changed energy suppliers, somehow that screwed up my account. 4. British Gas fixed that by creating another electricity account for my flat. I now had two accounts, and didn't know that. 5. Absolutely horrendous experience . Many completely different bills and no one had done meter reading . We got a bill for 4 months for 2500£ !!! It was estimate !!! We have been getting least 5-6 different bills for different numbers . Customer service is useless over the phone . They just kept coming out with random different numbers . British Gas provide me with unbelievably clear bills and always give me an update if they offer a cheaper tariff. Whenever their engineers come they are always efficient, polite and tidy in their work. They always give a convenient appt. time and call to say they are on their way. “Disgusting customer service ”

I've been with British gas for nearly 20 years. Always on pay as you go meters for both gas and electricity. Having rung them last week to go to paperbill they declined saying I had low credit score. When I questioned this I was told to get score from experian and they even gave me telephone number. So I did just that. I've now found that my credit score is very good. PENSIONERS BEWARE!! DO NOT USE BRITISH GAS I have been a British Gas customer for 4 years. My usage has been roughly the same each year. I have personal experience of British Gas's appalling billing procedures, where I moved into a new home and it took months for them to get my address right - and then, two years after moving out of there, I was being contacted by a debt collection agency as, in amending my address, they had actually registered me for two different ones and was chasing me for the one I hadn't been paying. You must be one of the lucky ones. Have been trying to arrange an annual boiler service for two months. Engineer did not turn up the first appointment, nor the second appointment am waiting to see whether they turn up the third appointment. “Central Heating Maintenance Contract”

I have had a maintenance contract for my central heating with British Gas for 8 years. My heating went wrong last night so called for an engineer this morning at around 8.30 am. Moved to my new property.British gas were the suppliers. Phoned British gas 4th Nov 2016,I was told an engineer would be out within4 hours. 7.30pm I received a call from the agent to cancel. I called British gas again, explained the situation, another engineer was booked. I phoned British gas asked about the low user rate as i got it last year, they said i used to much gas to qualifie to receive it. I called British Gas regarding the position on my pay as you go meter "as it was two high", I found out that it was over 6 and a half feet high making it a health and safety issue. I spent almost 2 hours being transferred to a total of five different advisers, I had repeating the same story and issues due to staff not following handing over procedures. The first free were unable to help "providing conflicting information", the forth adviser disregarded the health and safety issue at hand and gave me an appointment to have the meter moved in a months times. The fifth person tried to do the bests she could to rectify the others mistakes but was unable to book an appointment for a nearer date.
