I recently join home care for my central heating all i can say is why didnt i do it earlier I have had two visits on my system where the two engineers were excellent they would not leave until they had solved the problems. Gas card provided after a new meter did not work, They have sent me to several shops costing me money to get to with a code that does not work every time i ring them they tell me the code is right and working when it clearly is not they have refused to provide a new code and took 14 phone calls for them to send and engineer out basically Never trust these jokers bags in 3 months of being with them i have had to call them over 30 times due to different issues… Read Full Review

“Fantastic service from boiler engineer ”

We had been let down by Scottish Power who cancelled our boiler cover because they had been informed by an engineer from a company called Rightio that our five year old boiler should be condemned. British Gas came out to look at the boiler as we didn't trust Rightio. Immediately the engineer spotted the simplest of problems. A fuse not properly seated on the PCB board. Once reseated the boiler fired up and our heating system was restored. No new parts were required at all. Fantastic service… Read Full Review

Was a customer for 3 minutes. To a service plan out and then wentto book a service and they exepct you to wait in 5 hours for a slot........

Absolutely furious sick of contacting them joined when I moved home had smart meters installed was fine at the beginning very small one bedroom flat £32 a month direct debit for gas and electric was pre pay now £10 isn’t even lasting 24 hours chap in the phone thinks this is great and constantly advised he was putting things into perspective and that’s just the electric side has as previously stated was £32 a month all of a sudden get a bill taken out my bank of over £100 nothing had… Read Full Review

“Totally Incompetent ”

Recently moved house and needed pay as you go meters put in. Was nothing but hard work to get them to organise that. After they'd actually eventually did it, they put a debt on the gas even after I paid off the final reading which has affected my credit score. Every time I phone them about it, you get a very rude and nigh on abusive attitude on the other end giving you wrong information, making out like you're the one who's made all the mistakes. I came away from bgas when they took 2 lots of direvt debits out and when i phoned to say what they did and asked for them torepay me they saidvit would 4/5working days to get money back so o told them to come a fit prepayment meters which they tried to talk me out of several timez but i stood my ground and told person on end of the phone i will never go back to direct debit again as i want to be in charge of what money i put on meter so as soon as i got my money that they owed and got meters change i went to EDF nut am now with Utilita much better and good customer service

I had massive problems with British Gas in 2002; I had sent in the reading from the meter when I moved house and requested a monthly direct debit. It took nearly 3 months before they finally did this but I was in debit by an amount which I found difficult to pay [I am a pensioner]. I wrote several times [with no replies received] as I was unable to get through to anyone on the phone. In the end I changed to a company call Atlanta [or Atlantas] and had excellent service from them. The strange thing was that as soon as I changed, they found the time to write!!! In 2012 I moved into my present accommodation and the gas supplier was British Gas with the Electric from Eon - I quickly changed to a dual account with Eon [I had had Eon for my Electric since 2003 and had received excellent service] and I am really very happy with this Company - they may not be the cheapest, but I have certainly had excellent Customer service over the years.

“long wait for engineers and complaint handling”

I have appliance cover and as time passes by it goes from bad to worse. The BG states: ""An appointment that suits you. You can book online to get a time that fits around you.". Well they fixed (?) a dishwasher that showed te same fault after 24 hours. You called them and there is appointment slot for 11 days and no appointment at all on Saturdays.... 1. Not enough staff on phones . Long wait to get through and then long holds to different Dept's . 2. Jobs will be catagarised as up grades so you will have to pay - lots - despite being with home care . 3. Those amounts of money will change with every person you - eventually - speak to . 4. My Gas and Electric contract came up for renewel and Sainsburys through British gas come up the best deal. So i thought i would go for it. Two months in and they want to up my monthly bill from £79.50 to £125.50. And I gave them the correct figures from what they gave me as i was with them last year. I had a service and a breakdown call out on tuesday. The engineer without covering his shoes walked up my stairs and put mud up them. When he left, he shoved the covers on his shoes into my hands that he eventually put on. He told me to give them to the next person that came in. Found out they haven't been taking readings for 9 months as promised and didn't let me know, put original readings back, so far sent 3 enormous bills which are still wrong. “Took money fraudulently from my bank account”

I am not a customer of British Gas yet they set up a direct debit from my bank account and TOOK MONEY FROM ME. I called them and they hung the phone up on me. I emailed and was told they would do nothing without my british gas account number (I AM NOT A CUSTOMER). I persisted and was told british gas had done nothing wrong when they set up the direct debit as they don’t have to verify it is correct. Worst incompetent service I've ever seen. Avoid at all costs. 1. Signed up with British Gas, gave them meter serial numbers. 2. Account got opened with neighbors meters assigned to it anyway. 3. Neighbors changed energy suppliers, somehow that screwed up my account. 4. British Gas fixed that by creating another electricity account for my flat. I now had two accounts, and didn't know that. 5. Absolutely horrendous experience . Many completely different bills and no one had done meter reading . We got a bill for 4 months for 2500£ !!! It was estimate !!! We have been getting least 5-6 different bills for different numbers . Customer service is useless over the phone . They just kept coming out with random different numbers .
