When confronted with Sue Townsend, the first thought that comes into most people's minds are the highly prolific diaries of 'Adrian Mole'. However, 'Number 10' is a refreshing surprise as it is completely detached from prepubescent teenage boys and in fact revolves around the political world. Throughout this obsure and inventive novel, Townsend is continually humourous and outlandishly wacky, whilst also keeping the serious undertone of political corruption and family turbulance.
