This Amp Properly Matched With A Good Book Shelf S

This amp properly matched with a good book shelf speaker ( I'm using a pair of Mission 700's) sounds like a tube amp. Very difficult to push over the edge. Solid imaging deep soundstage, and plenty of power begs the question of diminishing returns when spending more. Great amp to do blind tests on audiophools who need to throw away money on over priced so called "high end" amps that sound different but no better.

The Cambridge Audio Azur 540a Is A Really Exciting

The Cambridge Audio Azur 540A is a really exciting amp and for 250 quid its a bargain too i would recommend a neutral warmer sounding cd source such as nad or marantz

It gives great sound quality. Change over from speaker to speaker is easy. The design is beautiful and I like the blue LED's. Quite expensive but it is a beautiful amp and has great sound quality.

The Cambridge Audio Azur 540a Has A Bright Sound C

The Cambridge Audio Azur 540A has a bright sound compared to NAD. Tone controls hardly make any difference in sound(direct button disengaged) I kept trying different speakers and CD players in an attempt to control brightness Polk LSi7 and Pioneer Elite PD65 work pretty well.

Cambridge Audio Azur 540 is NOT high-end audio, despite what you may have heard. First example was defective, second only fair. Would not purchase again.

Can Not Recommend To Anyone Based On Quality Issue

Can not recommend to anyone based on quality issues. Perhaps they had Lucas Electric do the wiring.

I Bought The Cambridge 540a To Go With Mission Boo

I bought the Cambridge 540A to go with Mission bookshelf speakers and was immediately impressed by the quality of the sound. I use it for listening to CD's in a normal home environment in a medium size room.

A few months ago I decided to upgrade to floor standing speakers and bought some KEF XQ5 which were on special offer. This relatively small amp powers them beautifully and the sound is amazing - it seems to match the KEF speakers very well, very clear treble and mid range and enough power for good solid bass.

The remote control is of very high quality, better than on amps of over twice the price. It also controls the other Azur products, but the only thing it won't do is switch off the unit and there is no "standby" on the amp.

For the price I can't recommend it highly enough.

Not a Hi-Fi just a stereo. I found that the Cambridge Audio Azur 540A were good enough for listening to TV but poor for music.

You say you don't like the amp but don't explain why. What area of it's Sonic abilities don't you like and why?
