These walkie talkies have so far had good reception. Our daughter has been using them to keep in touch while playing out. Gives a bit peace of mind. We have also used them for when she is in bed, so that she is not getting out of bed a lot of times for silly reasons (I'm sure parents will relate to this). She can just stay in bed now and speak on the walkie talkie.

At less with £20 you could do a lot worse than the Binatone MR250.

Bought for my six year old son's birthday and he loves them. Cheaper than letting him loose with a mobile phone. The Binatone MR250s seem pretty sturdy and everything in the box was ready to go. Sound quality does vary but I would expect this on a two-way radio. Paid £20 for the pair which is not bad for the handsets plus neat pod style charging unit. I have seen them for the same price without the charging unit but including vox headsets. We felt that the charging unit was preferable. I would say you could also use AA batteries if you don't have the charging unit available as they are the normal size.
