I've been using it for 10 years and found it to be a great machine that's easy to use with ease of program selection for the type of clothes you're washing, and additional programs for flexibility. Just make sure you read the manual to get the most from it. I use it mostly at the reduced 30C temperature setting and it cleans just fine, while doing a wash at 60C once a month to reduce mold and smell build up as recommended in the manual!

Well I've had this machine now several years and have nothing but praise for it, it has done what it should without fault or problem and NO I DONT work for or have any connection with Hotpoint. In common with any mechanical device they tend to work better when given a little attention from time to time. If it develops a problem (although honestly mine hasn't) it needs to be fixed, ignore it at your peril. Would you run your car for years on end with no attention, well yes admittedly some people would, and then complain afterwards. In reply to all those complaining about mouldy smells, the soap drawers on every washing machine I've ever had have tended to develop mouldy patches and even fungus over a period of time, its not really surprising giving what gets put in them. The remedy is surprisingly easy and obvious, CLEAN IT

Really hate this machine it doesn't even rate 1 star in my view Nothing but problems Have had to have drum replaced New motor, new filtration electrics fixed, new door and seal, front face of machine going rusty and repair man coming out yet again tomorrow as when I switch it on my house lights are tripping Will never buy anything made by Hotpoint again a complete waste of money.

I brought the Hotpoint WF541 a few years ago after my 15 year old 2nd hand Zanussi retired. I thought the machine was a decent brand, good spec, simple to use and looked o.k. However, it's never been as good as the old machine. And then there was the lights! About five and a half years after owning it, all the lights started flashing on the front of the panel. I looked in the manual - a few different things mentioned about certain lights flashing to indicate problems, but nothing about all of them. So I rang the "help and advice" line number that was stuck inside the door. It read me a long message and then asked me to call another premium line! After talking to four idiots, being on hold for a total of about 40 minutes and also cut off twice; they say that they will NOT tell me what the lights mean - I have to call out an engineer to diagnose the lights! The lights actually tell them what the problem area is, but they would not give me that information so that I could look for myself. I would have to pay to find out what part I'd need - after paying to spend an hour or so on a premium rate line being passed around departments. Don't buy Hotpoint or Indesit - they're rubbish and the included 5 year parts warranty is worthless anyway (even though I no longer had it), because you'd have to still pay for an engineer to tell you what part you'd need.

Did you find out what was wrong with it as my one has started to do the same all lights flashing for weeks now today completely gone off no lights at all so not working

A small electrical component had burnt out, that's probably worth less than a pound... I decided to by an LG in the end - they're Korean and probably much better than anything made in the UK. I only found the part that had burnt out though, when I took the machine apart to remove the stainless steel drum, so that I could use the drum as a log burner on the patio. And my advice is that you do the same - because after further investigation I'm informed by others that have had the same problem; you'll likely need to have the washing machine re-programmed anyway by an engineer once you start messing with the circuit board. Hotpoint and Indesit = absolute junk.

I bought my machine 6years ago with a 5yrs guarantee and I've had it fixed twice.. Now my warranty has expired and that same problem has happened again.. Where do I stand?!! Get new machine! Very unhelpful staff me member then called me stupid and my machine my problem. As my mum has had a machine for the last 15yrs(not hotpoint) I thought that was how long they lasted for..not a short 6years! Very unhappy will not use hotpoint again!!

Similar to other reviews, the front housing is also rusting on our machine. We've also just been told that the door latch needs replacing and also some internal "mother-board" or similar. Have had unit for 5yrs, but the rust has been apparent for at least half of that time. Not what you'd expect from a washing machine. You'd think that they would be built for a certain amount of contact with water...

We bought a silver Hotpoint Aquarius a little over 2 years ago and it has rust spots all over the front housing above the door. This looks awful and not what you would expect from a reputable company like Hotpoint. Although it is only cosmetic and does not stop the machine from functioning normally it is very unsightly. As the machine is out of warranty Hotpoint are unwilling to investigate

Bought this washing machine three months ago . Been using this machine daily with no problems until last week. The machine had washed the bedding and was spinning when there was a terrific bang. The glass door had smashed into the machine. The engineer said I must of had something in the machine - yes sheets how was that my fault. Has any one else has this happen????

I have had this machine for just over 4 years and the bearings have gone which means it can't be repaired as we would have to buy a new drum. I had a Hotpoint machine previously which lasted over 10 years and thought it a good make. But how wrong I was. There is awful mould on the rubber round the drum and also I have noticed a bad smell like other reviewers. I still feel this is a new machine and am very angry to be forking out more money just after Christmas. Shame it says 'made in Great Britain' on the front as it's so bad! It's about time British manufacturers woke up to the competition and stopped making shoddy half engineered products that rely on cheap plastic imports. We need Britsih made machines to be well built as in the past. You can do better Hotpoint!

I hate this machine! It leaves my clothes dirty, unrinsed and sometimes with dry patches. Its all very well being ECO friendly but it lets minimal water into the drum so how can it clean my clothes? Utterly useless, I am now searching for a machine that will actually wash my clothes.

Same here, hate this machine if I put a kilo of clothes I may if I'm lucky get fresh ones out. Absolute garbage, less than 18months old and I can't even give it away as I wouldn't wish it on any one.
Written on: 20/08/2015
Mine is the same , I have to add 6 full kettles worth of water to even get the clothes to wash properly . It must be a design fault that doesn't let enough water into the drum. The lack of water level at the door causes the seal to stay dirty and go mouldy. I'd feel bad selling it to my worst enemy .

I bought this machine and have had this awful smelly and disgusing odour it can be quite embarrasing. The front door is rusting I also bought the dryer at the same time this broke about 1 year ago as the door would not close I would never buy another Hotpoint.

Smells like a sewer when washing & laundry never smells fresh. Door seal is covered in mould & gunk no matter what I do & retains water. Although the door is left open when not in use because it is still coming into contact with the seal it might as well be kept closed! (Have checked other brands & this does not happen) Judging by other reviews this is a common problem that has been going on for some time - come on Hotpoint - sort it out! Front cover(silver finish) is also going rusty. Have decided to dump it & buy a new one - not a Hotpoint!

Exactly the same as many other users have posted on here. I had to have the drum replaced 6 months ago. Then got the problem with the flashing lights, ive had to have 2 engineers out within a week, had the circuit board and motor replaced(which failed within 24 hours). Will definately not touch HOTPOINT again, and would advise everyone possible to stay well away from this machine!!!

Having only bought hotpoint appliances for the last 30 years, I am bitterly disappointed with this washing machine. The front panel started to rust within a year - Hotpoint said it was cosmetic and would do nothing about it. The rubber round the door is covered in mould which won't come off. There is a continuous build up of mould inside the soap drawer, regardless of how often I clean it. It does not wash properly. I can't wait to get rid of it. I won't be buying anything from hotpoint again.

In common with other posters, same kind of experience - power board gone, with lights flashing and impossible to turn on the machine. Mould building up in the machine and smells of mildew, despite regular use. I have just been quoted '180 (I'm in Ireland) for a replacement power board and programming card, PLUS labour and callout charges. Needless to say, it's been poor value for money and I am going to dump this machine and buy a new (NOT a Hotpoint!) machine rather than throw good money after bad by paying for expensive parts and repairs. The worst buy I have ever made. I will never buy a Hotpoint appliance again. It would seem from other reviews here that there is a general problem with the power board - so the question has to be asked - is the part fit for purpose ? Is it fair to consumers to sell a machine with an expensive part that seems bound to fail after a couple of years ?

I will never buy hotpoint again this washing machine is the worse buy ever, have bought cheap washers that wash better, and last longer when you phone hotpoint all they want to do is sell you tablets for cleaning the pipes wish I had more space as this is replacement machine same machine but sligtly different wash instructions so hotpoint know there is a problem DO NOT GO NEAR THIS WASHER... Omg where to start after having another hotpoint washer i thought i would buy this one, The worse mistake of my life, i have had nothing but problems with it, i have had the bearings done 3 times, the heater, the circuit board and even had whole new insides of the washer,
The lights flash when trying to do a 30 degree wash so i have to bang it to stop them flashing.
Well its gone again my huuby said we will repair it i was like no im paying a new one i am so fed up with this one. it has really put me off hotpoint

Thank God I`m not alone! I bought this rubbish just over 2 years ago thinking if I pay a bit more for a so called good brand it would last me. What a joke! Apart from the fact that it didn`t wash properly and the clothes stank after a wash it has now broken down and due to the crafty manufacture of this appliance is now irrepairable unless I pay £200+. This is due to the drum being encased in a plastic mould that cannot be replaced. I`ll never buy a hotpoint again and definitely will not recommend it to friends.
