“Cheap but poor customer service”

I do recognise that Compila are very cheap - and this makes them very attractive to the vast majority of people who want some basic webhosting; in this respect, I can't fault them, and I have no doubt that they are one of the market leaders in the UK (however, there is an alternative argument in the web-hosting market that says that 'virtual' systems, such as the number of the MySQL databases a customer wants, should always be free [increasing the number of databases doesn't cost the host anything], and the customer should only pay for things that actually cost the host money - namely bandwidth and disk space; based on this, given that the bargain plan gets 20 MySQL databases, but the business plan gets 100, Compila would score quite weakly). Where Compila have fallen down in my experience is in terms of their support. Having read most of the reviews on the site where they have been praised for their support, it has been for relatively simple fixes - and the support guy is very good at these, and does reply to emails promptly. However, I have had relatively complex issues; working in the IT industry, I have always done some research in advance to make sure I know exactly what I am asking, but the support guy often ignores the fact I know what I am talking about - even when I send links to official documentation - and implies that he knows best. It then takes me several emails over the space of a week or more to get the problem fixed (which is often a simple configuration setting on the server). In every single case, I have been vindicated, with my original research providing the correct solution to the problem. In short: cost is very good, but if you want to be able to have a sensible technical discussion, then unfortunately Compila are unlikely to be for you

“Speed of support”

I have to say that any requests for support are acted upon very quickly by the support team at Compila. From the mundane to the more complicated they action their service tickets with amazing speed. Nice in this day and age! I have a number of domains hosted by Compila and use different hosting packages with them. Whatever the package they action service requests very speedily.

“Compila stand head & shoulders above other hosting...”

I have now used Compila for 10 years and seriously cannot find fault with their service whatsoever. I have used them for personal use, commercial use and as a reseller account and do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is looking for a first rate hosting company. One of the major selling points for me is that Compila’s prices cannot be beaten for the range of hosting packages and the services they include. However, add those to the excellent level of technical support you’ll receive and you’ll find they stand head and shoulders above any other hosting service. The hosting servers and support are both based in the UK which is a real bonus when explaining technical issues. Let me clarify, before it starts sounding like their servers are full of technical hitches, this is not the case. I maintain many websites and occasionally there will be an issue of a client IP from overseas being blocked, a simple case of asking Compila to whitelist the IP, or a customer may be having problems setting up their email client and struggling with the process due to their companies inhouse server firewall settings, the team at Compila go above and beyond what I’d class as their support remit overcoming problems which in a manner of speaking, is someone elses problem. In the 10 years I have used Compila I can recall only once that I didn’t have access to my website, which lasted in total no more than ten minutes. That’s a fantastic average! Ten minutes out of a staggering 5,258,880 minutes. I’m presuming the calculator I used took into consideration leap years ;-) I use a multitude of services with Compila and I don’t believe I have even touched the sides of what they offer and are capable of. When next looking for a web hosting service take a look at their website. Generally I recommend their Bargain Web Hosting plan to the average small to medium sized company, if more is required it is a simple process to get the hosting plan upgraded.

“Brilliant One-To-One Website Hosting”

The Guys at Compila are great. The Service is excellent together with the pricing and most importantly they answer the phone if you have any problems and resolve them immediately. Compila came recommended to me and it was the best tip I had. If you need web hosting I recommend using Compila

“Brilliant after sales help and advice”

Second time l've used Complia as my business hosting service (once as a caravan park owner) and now as charter fishing, and l must say the service is brilliant, To say l'm not a website or hosting literate person is an understatement,(if computers were operated by steam then l might have a chance), and l got myself into a right old problem setting things up, but the back-up lads at Compila were very helpful, nothing seemed to phase them, and they replied to my emails very very quickly, even on Sundays, tell me another BRITISH hosting company that will do that for you.- And you could understand everything they said to you. Their patience was astounding, having suffered a stroke in the past, not everything is as easily understood by me now, but Compila helped all the way through. Everybody l spoke to was helpful, and understanding, got me sorted, and then checked over my changes, altering them where needed, superb service, and just what l needed to get my websites on the 'net l cannot recommend Compila high enough.

“Terrible support”

Don't go near this company. Their technical support is unhelpful, obnoxious and slow. As many of the other reviews have stated trying to get any problems resolved is hopeless. You will experience numerous downtime for your site / email and then even more pain trying to get it working again.

Seems to be true for me, too. Just purchase 2-year starter package, but cannot get started. No response to support queries.

Support is rubbish, and sometimes you never get a response back. Avoid at all costs! They're slow and their VPS service gets used as mail spam. Oh and they like to overcharge too! Avoid, Avoid!

“superb value for money - A1 all round”

I've been with Compila several years now, first with a Bargain account and now with my own VPS with them. The uptime is very good, no complaints at all, and when I have any technical issues they are resolved very quickly and without fuss, even at 4am! The guys on the phone are senior staff, people who commission and maintain the servers with years of experience in the internet. So you'll always get a quick meaningful answer to questions instead of a load of waffle. Very good in my opinion. I'm sticking with them.

“Questionable Integrity !”

I have been with Compila for about 10 years but mysteriously our domain was ‘hacked’ (I am the ONLY administrator of the domain and take security very seriously) and all of the email accounts were deleted . I sent a support ticket and they reinstated all of my email accounts without explanation. Ever since our whole domain has been getting severely spammed. This didn’t used to be a problem but when I looked at my cpanel, I noticed that spam assassin and box trapper had been removed. When I enquired what had happened, I was told I had to pay extra to have the anti spam facilities returned. To be hacked is one thing, but to then be told to have to pay extra for something that you used to already have... well. To say that I am not impressed is an understatement. I used to recommend Compila but not now. Unreliable and would certainly questions their integrity when it comes to security.

“Fantastic Customer Support!”

I have been reading some of the reviews on here and am wondering if they are talking about the same company? I am very new to website design and blogging and have to say that I found the entire process very daunting when deciding to finally bite the bullet and get online, posting about my travels around the World. From start to finish, from sales to support, I have found them to be very patient and very helpful in everything that they have helped me with. I was going to choose a more expensive plan, but sales suggested a cheaper plan for me as the more expensive one had lots of features that I would never use. Then it came to the creation of the blog. I found that they offered WordPress for free, which made my life easier as I didn’t have to worry about installing it myself as it was already in the control panel. The guy on the end of the phone walked me through installation and even gave me a "heads up" on how to use the dashboard. The most impressive thing I found about them was their response times. As I said I have been using this site to blog about my travels around the World for friends and family to read, so was often in different time zones. No matter what time I sent a ticket in, I usually had a response within 1 hour which made my life easier as internet cafes abroad are normally very hot and sweaty :) So thank you again Compila, for all your help and efforts. I know of at least 2 other people who I have recommended to you and each of them are as happy as me, not only on price but also the help we receive. Keep the good work up!

“Bad support”

If you want cursory unpersonal and unhelpful customer support, this is the place for you. At least they are quick answering tickets via email, even late into the evening, but the replies are terse and seem to come from a position of smug superiority rather than being helpful. As a customer I don't feel valued - just looked down upon like some sort of irritation. Not impressed at all.

“Very bad customer/tech support”

I'm a professional web designer and have been hosting all my clients sites with compila over the past 10 years. As I know what I'm doing I need very little support but when it comes to server technology and in particular PHP settings on their servers the guy on the tech support desk is clueless and less than helpful. He set up standard response emails which are beside the point and take about 24 hours to come through. Thus a small job on his side can easily take 2-3 weeks while a shopping cart or a mail reply form does not work and hundreds to online customers can't buy or get in contact. Plus calling the premium rate number will cost you dearly and if you think getting your problem solved quicker - don't even try it, you'll end up screening down the phone in frustration! Cheep but most frustrating and hugely damaging!

“Best Hosting Company In The UK”

I have been a customer of Compila for many years now and their service has been excellent. There have been very few problems and where a problem has come up they have been very responsive and helpful and dealt with my issues in a very professional and timely manner. The staff are always courteous and know what they are talking about. I have hosting accounts with other companies across the world and I never get the same kind of service from them. In the future I will be hosting all my websites with Compila. I have recommended their services to several of my family members and friends because they deserve it. A very good company to deal with and long may it continue!

“So bad with customer service”

They are really bad, please do not use them. I have two websites with them, the first was ok so I just went with what i knew, now the 2nd keeps dropping off and I have raised 5 tickets over the last 2 weeks and NO response. I have called support and sales both no answer. Really bad. can't wait to leave

“Tecnical support”

Rubbish, now been waiting 31 minutes at 10p per minute. Second time in a week. Cannot even email complaint as its our emails that do not work. This is a common problem with Compila and we must now seriously look for another provider. Now at 9.35 am I am getting a message that their Tech support is now closed and they have cut me off. Customer Service does not exist with this company

“Very bad at answering their phones”

I have tried to call their technical helpdesk on a couple of occasions. Once I was waiting for 25 mninutes and gave up, the second time it is 15 minutes and I am still on hold. if you are looking for a prompt response you may struggle.
