“Not as bad as people make out?”

★★★★☆

written by ireekofgeek on 15/09/2011

My Husband, Cousin and I (Aged 23-27, Male, Male, Female) all stayed at this hotel for a long weekend in the sunshine. Booked last June when the reviews were all pretty good. By the time we went in September the hotel seemed to get a bit of a bad rap. People stating that the pool was dirty, drinks were tasteless and staff were rude. Not the case at all - We spent two whole days in the pool which was absolutely spotless. Every morning there was staff out cleaning it. The only 'rubbish' that ever ended up in there was the plastic cups that all inclusive drinks were coming in blew into the pool. Hardly the hotels fault... The staff, could have been friendlier, saying that - we witnessed a young couple (around our age) screaming and shouting at a receptionist because their rooms weren't ready yet (around 12pm) so can't really blame them for being a bit miserable. Bar staff weren't much better unfortunately and stuggled to make eye contact and ignored the 'British' for locals and friends at the bar. Great selection of all inclusive drinks behind the bar (wines, spirits, san miguel on tap) and the food at breakfast was great. Lunch and Dinner not so great - Fantastic little chinese buffet down the road though that was all you can eat for about 6 euros. Our hotel room wasn't great (broken fan in bedroom, no air conditioning) but felt safe enough throughout the weekend. Bath, shower, small kitchen and balcony. Beds were a bit hard too. We didn't pay much for the weekend away hence why we don't have much to complain about. If you're staying for a week or more it might get a little boring though.

“Late last year we went to Fuerteventura and stayed in...”

★★★★★

written by mabdevil on 28/09/2004

Late last year we went to Fuerteventura and stayed in Aparthotel Teguise Golf, which was OK, so not expecting too much. What a surprise, as the self-catering apartment was very clean and so much space. Just the 2 of us, but there were 2 large sofas, lots of room in the bedroom (twin beds pushed together), clean & large bathroom with soap and clean towels. Kitchen OK, with 2 electric rings, but no toaster or kettle. These can be hired from reception. Don't know how much - travel kettle!
Main part of the pool a little on the small size and is 1.35metres deep over whole length. It was never packed and you can get a decent swim. Next to this is a 1.4 metre deep 'plunge pool'. You can bob around in this, I guess? Third section is toddlers' paddling pool that is sloped, so ideal. Didn't see any lifeguards or lifesaving equipment. Sunloungers unlocked at 9ish, but if you want a parasol, you do need to go and get one as soon as they are put out or put up with roasting in the sun! Food from the pool bar is simple but freshly prepared and tasty. Usual stuff, like sandwiches (fried, not toasted!), burgers, chips baguettes, etc. Not too expensive, either. Staff friendly, and although I tried the language, I am not very good, so helped by their good grasp of English!
As a holiday is what you make of it, there is as much or as little to do as you want. On site the staff organise games during the day (archery, shooting, darts, pool, etc.) and there was evening entertainment for families. We wanted a nice, relaxing holiday, so chose not to join in with the games and, as we were self-catering, we chose to go out each evening for our meal.
Note that the resort is a fair distance from the town itself, but at only a 20 minute walk, this is ideal after a meal! Taxis are easy to get and at around 2-3 Euros per trip, it means generally, a nice quiet resort. There are supermarkets and a couple if restaurants within a 10 minute stroll, so a pretty good location for the price.
A good choice of restaurants in the town itself, without too much of a rush. Food good and freshly prepared. Even the steaks were good! Nice touch with the honey brandy when you get the bill! Usual array of electronics shops selling cut-price camera, etc. Don't be fooled by their promises of cheap goods. I checked the price of a particular camera on the Internet before leaving (£75, with memory card) and the shop's best price was £90 with card. I think the stuff is OK, but it is a long way to go to take it back. Also, they add money on if you pay with on plastic, so the bargain starts to disappear!

“We booked the Teguise Golf for a sun holiday in March....”

★★★★☆

written by NicHall84 on 03/04/2004

We booked the Teguise Golf for a sun holiday in March. Unfortunately the hole week it was cloudy and one night there was thunderstorms which led to powercuts. Beware of the wind also, we found the balcony was nicer than the pool. However, the staff were nice, the entertainment was varied for a small hotel and the food was excellent (although you have to go to the nearby Lanzarote bay for lunch, although all inclusive bar snacks are avaliable.) all in all it was a good holiday, clean large rooms, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and did get a tan despite the weather!

I agree with the review on the whole. However regarding the bar closure...there is a bar and cabaret at the nearby lanzarote bay hotel which stayed open considerably later and also provided midnight snacks...all included in the all inclusive option...despite the different venue...the small walk back after helped clear your head from all that free alcohol and the nights were balmy...
<br>generally excellent value for money...and a quieter location than the lanzarote bay...
