“EXCELLENT CAMERA AND MUSIC PLAYER”

★★★★☆

written by jovin on 21/09/2012

I have had this phone for the last 3 and a half years. Overall it is a very good quality phone- well made and good looking. It's first top feature is a camera that can take amazing pics- both macro as well as long distance and panoramic shots. The picture quality and sharpness is amazing. I gave up the idea of buying a compact and has used my SE 810i. But night shots aren't that good, but that is a problem for all mobile phone cameras. Next, the sound quality of the music player is extremely good-it is clear and sharp and you can hear a lot of instruments which are playing even faintly in the background. Also, the bass sounds also come out very well. The built in speaker volume is low, but music lovers generally prefer head phones and the hpm-64 that comes with the phone is superb. Don't change it for another model. Since I am in my early 50s I dont play games on the phone, and so I never had problems with its joystick. Battery life was initially 3 days with normal use. After 3 and a half years it has dropped to 2. It has a good browser though it stands no comparison with the ones in the new smart phones. Overall a well designed and well made phone. I feel lucky that I bought it!!

“Sony Ericsson K810i ”

★★★★★

Sony Ericsson K810i

I'm a teenager and I've had this phone for 4 years, and it's never let me down! It's very easy to use, and has simple short cuts which you can adapt, depending on what you use the most; e.g. imbox, create a message, taking a photo, images, music, contacts.

Why I like it

The camera works well, and gives clear shots in day light. It does have a flash but the only problem is sometimes in VERY dark conditions, the shot will not come out.
I personally find the keypad easy to use and not too fidderly.
Bluetooth works quickly and efficiently.
The speakers are good and clear, and the noise is projected well.
I don't play on games that often, but when I have there's been great variety.

Things not so wonderful:

The video call has never worked for me, but it might just be a fault with mine.
I've also never used the phone for internet,as the connection is too slow.
Some of my friends recon that it's quite chunky, but I like the size, and it does fit in a pocket well.

I've dropped it hopeless amounts of times, and this has never faulted it. It seems to withstand water too. So very sterdy overall!

I definitely recommend this phone as it's served me very many happy years and I am very sad to be finally saying my goodbyes but it's time for a change.

The Sony Ericsson K810i has a really good camera but is spoiled by the screen being too small. Also you can hardly see what you are reading if you access the internet.Sony Ericson have gone out of the norm and used the M2 sd card. This makes it awkward if you want to transfer files to your old phone as most phones nowadays use the ordinary mini sd card. Also after 1 year the abc jkl and tuv buttons stopped working and I had it in for repair on numerous occassions at a lot of expense and they cant seem to fix it.
It would have been good if the people I bought the phone from had shown me the screen on internet mode so I could see the screen in full use.
I bought the phone unlocked from a small mobile phone shop.

Sony Ericsson K810i Review - Overall good phone compared to all these touch sensitive ones which delete stuff if you hover your thumb too near the wrong button.

Doesn't take too kindly to being dropped (see bad points)

People say the battery only lasts a day, I'd say two.

Has a habit of signing onto the internet even with keylock on, last time it was on for 4 hours before I found it!

Quite heavy too I guess.

This is the 5th Sony Ericsson phone i have had now and it would take a hell of a lot to get me to change to another brand. The previous one i had was the K800i but it was sometimes troublesome paring it up to bluetooth devices, i am now glad to say that this problem has been fixed with the K810i. This phone is simple to use, has a great picture quality and has crystal clear sound. The only bad thing about this phone is that i am lucky if i can get 3 days out of it between charges. I would recommend this phone to anybody as i need a phone that is simple to use and very reliable as my business depends on it.

When inside your pocket this gets opened and switches the camera on. They have stopped fitting this to the latest K850i. Great phone only negative is the sliding door over camera lenses.

“I purchased this phone via O2-UK on a contract and...”

★★★★☆

written by DeclanTM on 20/02/2008

I purchased this phone via O2-UK on a contract and could not be happier with it.

I had always went for Sony Ericssons as I find their firmware and menu layout the best in the market, it clearly has a lot of thought put into this and all the features of the phone are very easy to find and use. Not only that but they manage to make all the GUI look good and easy to theme.

I had always went with Walkman branded phones before this one but the camera was never up to much and with the recent purchase of an Apple iPod Touch 16GB I did not feel the need for a music orientated phone so went with a CyberShot branded one which gave me a 3.2 Megapixel camera with a proper flash. The quality of the pictures from this phone varies so much, one minute it gives you very nice looking pictures the next grainy mess. I believe this has a lot to do with lighting, in good lighting this phone produces good results but in low light even with the flash all your pictures will come out incredibly grainy.

I had my eyes on the K800i before this came out but this phone is not only smaller but it looks much better and the circle metal buttons have made texting a joy but the joystick could be more responsive especially the click.

Overall a very good phone that could have a better camera picture in low light but a firmware upgrade may sort this and since the phone can now do this over the air its easy.

“I love my sony ericsson k810i my partner brought it...”

★★★★★

written by on 20/02/2008

I love my sony ericsson k810i my partner brought it for me as a present and its the best present I've ever had, the 3.2mp cybershot camera takes super photos i love how the pics are crystal clear even if the camera or someone is moving the picture is never blurred you can also change the amount of megapixels you set the camera to use so if someone you know has a phone and they don't have very many megapixels if you set your phone to a lower amount and they can still receive files from you, previously on other phones i couldn't do this and when trying to send a photo to someone if their phone was not so good it would say the file was too big and their phone couldn't open it which was really frustrating so thankfully this has solved that problem i say its better quality than my digital camera, in fact since i got this phone i don't use my camera just the phone as the quality is excellent, it also has a great mp3 player with track ID which i love.
I also love the new round buttons too as it makes texting much easier being quite far apart however i do tend to keep catching the internet button on the top left hand side of the keypad as the buttons at the top are so small and close together so i have to keep pressing cancel as it connects to the internet everytime the button is caught but a small price to pay for an excellent phone i love it. My family and i usually chop and change my mobiles quite a lot were quite a picky lot so just through boredom or wanting something or just something small on a phone that we don't get along with new but i can see myself sticking with this one for a long time to come. My partner has a W610i and my stepson the K800i we all have had lots of different phones but we all now swear by sony ericssons through the quality, they are simple to use yet have great features, im very impressed with it, my best phone yet!

written by KERIandANDI on 19/02/2008

My partner brought me this phone as a present and its the best present i ever had, I really cant fault the phone apart from that little button but that's nothing a very small price to pay for such a fantastic phone! I love having a 3.2mp cybershot camera, it is better quality than my digital camera in fact since getting the phone i haven't used my digi cam there is no point the picture quality on my phone is far better and with it being cybershot i get a crystal clear photo everytime no matter whether the camera is moved or the person im taking a picture of does, there is never a blurred picture, what i also like is that u can change the settings for the amount of megapixels you want to use, i like this because previously when i took pictures on other phones and wanted to send it to someone if their phone wasn't as good as mine or vice versa when the file was sent the the other persons phone would not be able to open the picture as it would say file was too big, which was a shame because i love sharing pictures and that would annoy me but this setting has thankfully solved that problem. Several other settings on the camera i like also such as the flash can be set to red eye reduction, there is also bestpic allowing you to take one photo but it takes lots of frames and you can chose the best one to save and autofocus. I love the new round buttons i think they make it much easier to text being further apart very comfortable to use the toggle menu button can sometimes get a bit stiff but thats nothing i cant cope with the screen is really big and clear and the phone is very simple to use yet still has some great features. My husband has a Sony Ericsson W610i and my stepson a Sony EricssonK800i and we all have had several different model phones but all now swear by sony ericssons through sheer quality and how nice they look and simple to use also have lots of other excellent features we all have had a lot of mobiles through getting bored of a phone or wanting something newer and different but i can honestly see myself sticking with this phone now for a long time to come i love it!

I think the Sony Ericsson K810i is very similar to the k800, just updated. Good camera quality, easy to navigate menu- the real plus for Sony Ericsson's. good quality screen. As with all sony ericssons its bulky and the buttons are stiff - thumb ached when texting - a real put off!! had a w850 and loved it.

written by C0nfused on 20/10/2007

Really like the phone and it already feels like it will last the length of my contract, unlike the Motorola that I had previously (which I had replaced so many times they eventually swapped it for a Sony Ericsson which worked no matter how many times I dropped it!).

It also came with a demo of Monopoly which I have now downloaded the full version of. Very addictive.

I also appreciated how it was virtually already set up with the best options for use (in my opinion). I didn't have to waste time altering how the phone numbers are listed and any of the settings. Much more user friendly.

Battery life is good. Would be better if I stopped playing Monopoly!

I see some people raving about the battery life with the Sony Ericsson K810i; personally I didn't like it. It's definitely a 'charge every day' phone, although I am quite a heavy user.
Like any phone with a big screen it's subject to becoming grimy and covered with fingermarks, hey ho, that's just the price you pay for such a big screen I guess.
Other than that it's a good phone that I can't really fault.
