There Is A Well Known And Well Documented Design F
There is a well known and well documented design fault with this model's alarm module which Ford are aware of; nevertheless if it's just a week out of warranty you will be charged over £500 to have it fixed!!! Do not buy this car

On The Face Of It. The Ford S Max Is A Great Car.
On the face of it. the ford s max is a great car. It is practical, Good to Drive (When it starts) and very flexable. Been on holiday with 5 kids, 2 adults and all luggage. That's all the good things
The Garage (Trentham Lakes, Stoke on Trent) have had the car more than I have. The center Consule is a very bad design and in 3 years i've had 4 now. Bad heater air flow, Doesn't start (Fault not found !!), Windows got stuck shut, New shocks make a racket, Very poor customer service from Ford. They have to have the carto see what's wrong, then have to bookit in again to attampt to fix it. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it......
Will never get another one, let alone another Ford. STAY AWAY FROM S MAX's

I Have Owned My Ford S-max 2.0 Lx For Just Over A
I have owned my Ford S-Max 2.0 LX for just over a year now, generally reliable, but build quality average, doors dont fit flush, interior rattles, notchy second gear, noisy ventilition with clicking noise from heater system when you first switch on, trip computer exagerates, this was supposed to be a concept car, pushed out onto the market whith to many faults, bought new from allen ford swindon, i find them rude, dont call back when promised, cut you of whilst transfering your call, generally not customer focused, they jump up and down when make a sale, but after that, every thing else stops. service department cant fix your car unless you you make several visits with the same problem. im changing my car shortly with a dealer who cares,
if you wish to buy a ford dont go to allen ford SWINDON your better of with a small family run main ford dealer who will give you a good service.dont make the same mistake i did, allen ford are all over the net for poor sevice, (named and shamed) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I Pretty Much Love My Ford S-max. It's Really Good
I pretty much love my Ford S-Max. It's really good to drive for a car of its size (in fact it doesn't feel like a car of its size!). I have all the power I need when I need it (2.0 TDCi).My family has loads of space, from the front passenger seat to the middle row where the legroom feel limitless. The first back row seats slide and tilt independently, which is great and the middle one can be folded flat like a table when not in use.The second back row is very usable and proved really helpful when on a holiday with my wife, two kids and my sister-in-law and her husband. It meant their car could stay at the and we could travel together on days out. There was still plenty of room in the boot space for two buggies, bags and more.In terms of equipment, even the basic spec LX is well provided for, with a good stereo (including MP3 connector), air con (also fed to the back), clever storage and steering wheel controls, etc.I also love the styling, from the clever layout of the interior to the somewhat sporty appearance. And when I have a load to carry, dropping all the seats flat give a cavernous space that has yet to be defeated by any piece of furniture or trips to the tip with garden waste.BUT - I'm disappointed by a string of technical let-downs. I took delivery of the vehicle brand new but had to go straight back because the tracking was way out, or so it seemed. It took about five returns for this to be corrected. It was okay for a couple of weeks then a new issue with the steering arose and it turned out to be a broken track rod! On a vehicle just a couple of months old! This was replaced by the dealer but then the car developed a string of other issues, including a clunking sound and feeling of movement in the steering wheel. This turned out to require some tightening in the steering column. Could have been a safety issue in the meantime?!Other little things, like front armrest/storage bin lid falling apart were also annoying. It also has a tendency to lower its front windows when I'm not around (most recently during a heavy rainstorm - badly wetting the interior). The electric windows also tend to lower themselves back down while you're trying to send them up. They go part way then return to the bottom. It can take four or five goes to get them all the way up.The dealership has investigated this twice and won't do anything because they say they can't reproduce it. They 'greased' some runners last time, thinking that might solve the fail to close issue - but it hasn't.So, on the quality front, I'm very disappointed. It's my first Ford and thought I might get better than that (having owned a Peugeot previously, which I would never go back to!). It's a great concept, let down by poor execution in some areas.
