This Unit Sounds Nice And Has Goos Battery Life, I

This unit sounds nice and has goos battery life, if you put in a high-capacity camera battery, but that's about where the good bits stop.

This is one of the most counter-intuitive things I've ever had on my hand. Usually, I can pick up a device and figure out how to work it in two minutes or less. With this one, I would be lost without the manual. I consider that inexcusable for somebody like Sony.

Ok, the whole MD system is obsolete by now, and it never caught on in a big way, largely because of Sony and their stance on DRM and copy protection. Even without that, the units were just too expensive. The format never achieved any sort of ubiquity, so there were no players around that would take your MD and play it in a different environment. Sony hoped that this would be the new replacement format for the CD, but this was never going to happen, not while the hardware was so expensive.

So, for me, this is yet another reason to avoid Sony products altogether. The company is capable of making good products, but it has arrogance and agendas that get in the way of it ever putting the customer first.

The Sony Mz-r700 Is Not A Great Player. Operation

The Sony MZ-R700 is not a great player. Operation is clunky and the design of this unit is terrible. The battery department is located directly underneath the lcd display so during charging the crystal display gets cooked like a turkey. I also noticed fragments of dust creeping in underneath the same display which should be sealed. 12 months on, the characters on my screen are extremely faded and very difficult to decipher, especially under direct sunlight. The inline remote is extremely nasty, lacking any display feature and feeling very cheap. The buttons on this remote are so small it's practically inoperable by adults. Also, the fixing pin is comparable to a Bic ballpoint pen/weak and breaks easily. Although the sound quality has been very good with an adequate variation of bass/treble control, I don't feel this md is typical of Sony quality. Within the same price range, there are were/are much better md units with mp3 transfer features and less noisy operation. I had the opportunity of using this at a rock concert and found the high-def external mic picked up more noisy player interference than the actual concert

In no way was this worth the money that I paid for it.

Although Being Quite Costly, The Mz-r700 Is An Ama

Although being quite costly, the MZ-R700 is an amazing recordable mini-disc player. With its inline remote, saves you going to the mini-disc player to change songs or even record songs. It's longplay function lets you record up to 4 CDs length is great, that means you are getting 320 mintues on a 80 min mini-disc. Its really small, stylish, compact and does not have a big bit sticking out for the battery, it is put in really well. It is simple to use and is one of the best out there, so I really recommend you buy the MZ-R700 because there isn't much better than a SONY

I love my MZR700 which has replaced my MDS-510 full size mini-disc deck as my preferred recorder since it supports MDLP so I can use it to record overnight radio broadcasts as much of the music I like is transmitted during the early hours.

It has massive battery life, 52 hours playback, and uses a rechargable battery. As with all sony products the MZ-R700 phone looks stylish and is small and lightweight. Quality digital sound and in-line remote makes it easy to use. Good value for money, and well worth buying.
