The show was aired on the BBC in the later part of the 1980's and enjoyed a very successful spell on the BBC. The show could usually be found about 8.00pm on a Sunday evening and provided about 40 minutes of real entertaining mirth. The show was the brainchild of successful comedy writer Carla Lane and this return to form is arguably her most "famous" work. Bread was a under-rated BBC situation comedy written by Carla Lane. Bread first hit our screens in 1986 and ran for 7 series, In total 74 episodes were made.
This comedy was about a family called the Boswells from Liverpool, they were experts at "working the system" and "getting by" in spite of the fact that on paper none of them are employed. Can you remember what the family dog was called in Bread? Even the dog was funny. Great times!!

the dog was named 'mongy', short for 'mongrel'. hope that helps :)
